Possible Spoilers

Looks like even after the summer’s over, things will be sizzling hot when LOST comes back on the air in October…

According to a TV Guide Interview, show producers have confirmed that they will be adding actor Rodrigo Santoro to their fall lineup of LOST cast members. He has been dubbed a “Brazilian Tom Cruise”, and has acted in such movies as Love, Actually and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

“We don’t really want to be at all specific about what we’re doing with the character or what he’s going to play,” Cuse told TVGuide.com. “Part of the surprise and the enjoyment of watching the show is sort of getting a chance to meet a new character and see how his role is going to unfold in relation to the rest of the cast.”

Another actress, Natasha Henstridge, separately confirmed that she will be joining the LOST cast in a recent exclusive with the Philadelphia Metro. No details known about what role she will playon LOST, but there are rumors that it is one of a strong-willed mid-30s lady who will challenge Jack’s authority.

Where’s the complaint dept around here?! (Includes Major Spoilers from Comic Con)

Yup, I said I wasn’t going to post until Monday, but sadly here I am.

I just had the most harrowing time, as they cancelled my flight to San Diego, and long story short, the one they put me on would have made me miss Comic Con, so I decided to stay home (they screwed up royally when they booked a ‘connecting’ flight that didn’t connect with my first leg, and by the time they told me, it was too late to get on one that would make it there in time). US Airways, I will rant against you here, because after 2 trips to the airport, 3 hours of waiting IN the airport, and 4 hours of waiting on hold/transfered between 6 different lines (none of whom seemed to know what they were doing)… I didn’t end up getting on a single plane!

However, I do have my spies on the Comic Con floor, and we have some mild spoilers and a not-so-mild spoiler/rumor as a result. These are mostly courtesy of my friend John (AKA ’sculpey’ on the forums) who attended the panel at 10:30, who I just got off the phone with; he gave some good details about what they said, including major spoilers for S3. To give people an idea, the panel this year includes Damon Lindelof, Carlton Cuse, Bryan Burk, Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin). The ‘wildish’ spoiler at the end is from a friend of a friend who attended the DVD party, and I am not vouching for the reliability as much as the other stuff, but I’m posting it, and you can be the judge. Please click “Read More” below to see.

EDIT 7/22: Adding in yet more details and goodies provided by ‘WndrBr3d’ of LOST-TV–worth a read! Some good stuff in there.

Bad Twin writer revealed

I got a mail from Variety today. Turns out they have found out who the real writer of ‘Bad Twin’ is.

The book was published under the pseudonym ‘Gary Troup’, a fictitious character who died in the crash of Oceanic flight 815, but the real author is none other than the noted ghostwriter and thriller author Laurence Shames. Shames is perhaps best known for his bestselling Mafia title “Boss of Bosses”.

Some fans have speculated that the Lost book was written by Stephen King since Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse have compared some aspects of Lost to his book “The Stand”.

According to Variety, Lost execs have not been entirely happy with Shames’ story. If this has had any impact on the Lost storyline or The Lost Experience remains unknown.

Cecilia posted a ‘Bad Twin’ review last week, so if you haven’t read the book, you might want to read our review.

Is Michael lost forever?

Possible Spoiler

According to Seattlepi.com, actor Harold Perrineau who portrays Michael on Lost is no longer under contract and is free to pursue other work. Perrineau told Scripps Howard News Service that he won’t be back when Lost returns in the fall.

“As of so far, I am not back next season. I am not off the show, but I am not back next season … and I may not ever be back.”

Perrineau also said that he was aware of a story line in which Michael tries to get back to the island, but according to the actor, this is not planned for the next season of Lost.

Even if this was expected, I’m a bit sad to see Michael disappear. I felt that he was a very strong character with much potential left.

I certainly hope that this doesn’t mean that we have also seen the last of Walt, since I believed that he was one of the most important characters of Lost. There is still much mystery surrounding Walt’s time with The Others and his strange “powers” that needs to be explained.

If we never find out why the Others took Walt.. let’s just say that I will get pretty pissed.

Lost on Thursdays?

According to Sci Fi Wire, ABC might be planning some changes in their Lost schedule. First of all, Lost might get moved to Thursdays and second - it seems like they have started listening to the fans:

The network could also decide to air Lost in two blocks of original episodes—one in the fall and one in the spring—with a hiatus midseason. This would eliminate the current on-again, off-again schedule of new episodes and reruns, while giving ABC a midseason opening to air a new show.

Also, USAToday hints at that Lost Season 3 might start to air in October.

Update: ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson has some more info according to Zap2it:

“We really wanted to just say to the audience, ‘Listen, it’s going to be on for this block here and then we’ll bring it back and it will run straight through’. So yes, the plan is that ‘Lost’ will come on in the fall in the first or second week of the season, run for seven episodes and then ‘Day Break’ will launch into that period and ‘Lost’ will come back in January or early February and run straight through for the remainder for the season.”

Beware of Possible Spoofed Phone Calls from “Hugh”

For those of you who follow the webmaze (read below), some of you have left voice messages for Hugh McIntyre (it allows you this option, message says he will call you back). One of my friends was recently given a call back from someone claiming to be this gentleman, and even logged the conversation in a transcript.

However, it now appears that these phone calls may be hoax. Someone from thetailsection.com talks about how someone from Michigan (586 area code) hacked into Hugh’s voicemail, and has been calling people on the phone list. Someone else even called him back through caller ID, and he answered in character, but there were a number of holes in his story which would be consistent with that of a hacker/hoaxer. Just be aware of this issue if you get a phone call back after leaving voicemail.

‘Lost’ producers lobby for scheduling change

According to Digital Spy, Damon Lindelof is trying to persue ABC to change Lost’s schedule to decrease the amount of reruns.

“We’re lobbying ABC for when the show is on, it’s on, and when it’s off, it’s off,” exec producer Damon Lindelof told E! Online. “So, we want to air it in three acts next year. You know, blocks of seven, seven and eight. But in order to do that, we have to roll the show out in October instead of September, and hopefully that will work out.”

Hopefully the studio executives will listen to Damon and all the Lost fans who have gotten tired of the massive amount of reruns.

Aronofsky will not direct Lost episode

According to Entertainment Weekly’s Popwatch, indie filmmaker Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream) will not be able to direct a LOST episode this season.

Aronofsky, who besides being hard at work on his latest science-fiction drama “The Fountain“, is expecting a child with actress Rachel Weisz.

The director has respectfully bowed out of helming one of the current season’s remaining episodes due to scheduling conflicts. “The timing didn’t work out,” Aronofsky tells us. “I’m expecting a child.”

I was really looking forward to Darren’s LOST episode, but I’m sure he was looking forward to directing it too, since he is a great fan of the show. Hopefully we will see an episode directed by Aronofsky next season.

Rodriguez rumors false according to Lindelof

TV Guide’s Ask Ausellio column took a closer look at the whole “Ana-Lucia is getting killed off because of Michelle Rodriguez’s behavior on an of the set” rumor. According to LOST executive producer Damon Lindelof, the rumors are nothing but speculation.

“It’s all huff and puff and speculation. Not a word of it is true.” He goes on to say that if he were going to whack Ana Lucia — and that’s a big “were” — it wouldn’t be because of Rodriguez’s behavior. “Lost’s story is the star, and no actor would ever be killed off for any other reason than supporting the story.”

I’m glad this turned out to be just a rumor.
