Possible Spoilers
Once upon a time there was a flight attendant who flirted with Jack on a plane. Later we found out that she had survived the plane crash. We got to know her and… then she was lost. But what happened to Cindy?
This is what I remember: The tailies, Michael and Jin where transporting the wounded Sawyer up a steep hill. Cindy was the last person to start climbing, but when the others had all reached the top, Cindy had disappeared. One moment she was there, the next she was gone.
Ana-Lucia wanted to go looking for her, but Mr.Eko stopped her, claiming that if they’d split up, they would be giving “them” what they wanted. Then everyone started hearing whispers in the jungle, they got scared and Ana-Lucia yelled “run!”. Since then, we have not heard or seen Cindy anywhere.
My thoughts on the whole situation are that Cindy was not kidnapped but actually left on her own. I’m guessing that both Cindy and the pilot (who we never actually saw dead), are connected to The Dharma Initiative and/or The Hanso Foundation through Oceanic Airlines, which I believe could be a Hanso Foundation company.
Either way, we will probably find out what happened to Cindy soon enough. In a recent interview, Kimberly Joseph who plays LOST’s Cindy said:
“I’m fairly certain and have heard rumours that I will probably be back before the end of the season. It would be very unlikely that they not tie up that loose end - I’m going to get a phone call at some stage I’m sure.
She’s the only surviving cabin crew member so there are definitely possibilities for her. I don’t know what they have in store and I’ll be the last person to find out.”
Now why in the world would I believe that Oceanic Airlines is connected to Dharma and The Hanso Foundation?
Remember the toy airplanes above the crib in “Maternity Leave”? They all had the Oceanic Airlines logo on them. This leads us to the question - why would the Dharma Initiative place a mobile with Oceanic airplanes above Aaron’s crib? My first thought was that the toy airplanes going round and round, unable to escape from the circular motion was a metaphor for the control Dharma has over Oceanic Airlines.
The second thing that occurred to me was that maybe the planes are used to train Aaron. Provided that Walt actually has psychokinetic powers, enabling him to manipulate the world around him with his thoughts (summoning polar bears, making the rain stop, guiding knives into trees), maybe Aaron has similar powers which he needs to train (making the planes on the mobile spin around with his thoughts). These ideas tie in with the ultimate theory.
My other reason for believing Oceanic Airlines is connected to Dharma is the way in which both the pilot and Cindy, the flight attendant stay around long enough to let everyone know that the plane is lost and that there is no chance for rescue, and then they both mysteriously disappear.
We also need to remember that the “psychic” Claire talked to appears to have known about the plane crash before it ever happened. Did he really see the future, and if so, why did he want Claire and her baby to crash on a “deserted” island? And if he didn’t see the future, he knew what was going to happen because he was part of the “Dharma conspiracy”.
The fact that the Oceanic Airlines flight left from gate 23 (23 supposedly being the most important number), doesn’t really increase my trust in the friendly Oceanic crew.
Just throwing some ideas out there, what are your thoughts?
