Eight agonizing months later and Lost finally premieres with Season 4 - Episode 1, most appropriately titled “The Beginning of the End”. This episode marks the turning point for the entire series; we will now be counting down from 48 to the conclusion of the show (hence the title of this episode). We will get answers to the myriad questions that are still out there, and I am positive a few more questions will come up along the way. ABC’s official show description:
Warning, possible spoilers!
“Feeling that their rescue is close at hand, the survivors don’t know whether to believe Charlie’s final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets…”
It is difficult to tell based on the information that is out there how the series will play itself out moving forward. My basic understanding is that there will be few episodes where only one character is the central figure, flash forward vs. flash back, etc. I think it is safe to say that Jack will play a fairly large role in this initial episode. Further, I believe you can expect the show to build immediate steam this year, as opposed to dragging along in any capacity or introducing pointless new characters. We know our beloved characters get off the Island - now we get to see how.
We’ve finally reached the best day of the week. Based on the Official Podcast, tonight’s no-flashback episode should answer a number of questions, and I am sure in typical Lost fashion, create quite a few as well. I am excited for all of these reasons:
Warning, Spoilers!
We will find out what Locke has been up to since we last saw him, and supposedly how his father ended up on the Island as well
Finally, the name of the not-so-mysterious parachutist will be officially revealed (AKA Season 3’s Worst Kept Secret): Naomi Doret for the two people that are still unaware, and yes, the name is of some “Dickensonian” relevance. More importantly, we will also get a better explanation of her understanding of what happened to Oceanic Flight 815
The Others - Why did they tuck tail and run with heavy artillery? Hopefully we’ll get that answer as well.
Put your thinking caps on folks, D&C are adamant that the “Purgatory” theories are not an option.
Here’s the official description from abc.com for the new Lost episode “The Brig”:
Locke tries to persuade Sawyer to help rid them of a great nemesis, and the survivors learn some shocking information about Oceanic Flight 815 on the next episode of ABC’ Lost. Wednesday, May 2 at 10/9c
Tonight’s episode looks to focus on Sun and what effects the island may have on her pregnancy; based on what has already happened to Claire and with Juliet in the picture, things should get interesting in this week’s Lost episode “D.O.C.”
Also, we will find out more about the mysterious parachutist, what her connection to Desmond is, and what her role will be.
Caution, spoilers!
The April 20th podcast told us that we will find out who the real father of Sun’s baby is, and it was revealed that D.O.C. is the acronym for Date of Conception. The last few episodes have spent considerable time making us aware that pregnancy on the island is fatal, with the lone exception being Claire.

“D.O.C” - After discovering that all of “The Others’” pregnant women died before giving birth on the island, an extremely reticent Sun allows Juliet to examine her — and uncovers the identity of the unborn child’s father. Meanwhile, Desmond allows an unlikely nemesis to help save the life of a new, mysterious island inhabitant. “Lost” Wednesday, April 25 at 10/9c on the ABC television network.
I’ve decided to start posting the previews of upcoming episodes since pretty much everyone seems to be watching them. From now on, you are allowed to discuss the preview that is shown right after Lost airs, but other preview trailers and clips are still considered spoilers so please don’t discuss those on this site.
If anyone feels strongly against allowing discussion of the preview that is shown after a new Lost episode airs, let me know.
Here is the preview for next week’s episode “Tricia Tanaka is Dead”:
The Lost Season 3 special “Lost Survivor Guide” which is going to air before tonight’s new Lost episode “Not in Portland” is now available online at Yahoo.
ABC once again invites new and avid Lost viewers to take another look at one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed shows. Lost Survivor Guide will explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date — but which current viewers will also find illuminating in anticipation of the return of the second act of the series third season. From the back stories of some of the most interesting characters on television to the mysteries of the island, Lost Survivor Guide will provide an insightful glimpse into the lives of some of the survivors of the doomed Oceanic Airlines flight 815, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 7 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
Hosted by Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof (also a co-creator of the show) and Carlton Cuse, the special will be told in a linear fashion, culminating from pieces of the back stories revealed over multiple episodes in the series, Lost Survivor Guide focuses on the flashbacks of a core of characters — illustrating who they were and what they were doing before the crash, and how the island has changed their lives, for better or worse. In addition, the island itself will be explored culled from events that have taken place which may reveal some of its secrets that might have been missed upon first viewing.
If you don’t have time to watch it on TV or just can’t wait any longer head on over to Yahoo to take a look at the video. Click on “Lost Survivor Guide” in the big video box at the top or follow this link.
