I’m glad to see so many nominations for Lost, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Heroes takes home a lot of the awards due to its current status as “THE show to watch”.

Michael Emerson and Elizabeth Mitchell really deserve to win though, and Josh, Matthew and Evangeline have been great in Season 3 so it would be fun to see them take home some awards.

We will have to wait until May 10 to find out who the winners are, but until then, who do you think should win?

Lost cast at Golden Globes

The Golden Globe awards are currently under way and sadly, Evangeline Lilly who was nominated for the best actress in a television drama award didn’t win. Instead, the award went to The Closer’s Kyra Sedgwick.

Even though she didn’t win, Evangeline deserves an award for looking as radiating and happy as she always does.

We are now keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that Lost takes home the award for best television drama. It’s going to be a tough fight since Lost is competing against 24, Heroes, Big Love and Gray’s Anatomy, but with a little luck…

If you aren’t watching already, the Golden Globe Awards can be seen on NBC (January 15, 8 – 11:00 p.m. EST)

Update: The best television drama award was won by Gray’s Anatomy.

Nominations for the Seventh Annual Weblog Awards are now open.
The Weblog Awards is a non-profit project created to award the best blogs.

If you feel like nominating The Lost Blog, I would suggest nominating the site as “best entertainment weblog”.

The way it works is that you enter the name of the blog under Nominee (The Lost Blog) and URL should be http://www.lostblog.net, provided that you are nominating this site. For your nominations to be valid, you need to nominate at least three different blogs in total among all the categories.

I know some of you guys haven’t really liked Evangeline’s acting this season, but I think she is doing a great job, so congrats to both Evangeline and the rest of the cast and crew. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

The “Lost” Emmy Nominations

The Associate Press writes about what they call Lost’s “surprising lack of presence among this year’s Emmy nominees”.

“My first reaction to it was, `Good.’ I don’t want us to become that show that becomes so righteous, so above everything else, that we’re untouchable,” said Evangeline Lilly, who will serve as a presenter at the Aug. 27 Emmy telecast.

“When we started, our big question was, `Will anybody even watch this show?’ And then when people started watching, we were thrilled. And then when we got recognized critically, we were beside ourselves. So, when we didn’t get nominated, all we had to do was remember where we came from.”

Lost executive producer and writer Carlton Cuse continued:

“Were we disappointed that we didn’t get a nomination for the show? Yes.” he said. “But the show has been so blessed: the attention, the success. We’re not going to focus too long on what we don’t have.”

Now I don’t know if I am misinterpreting the list of nominations, but from what I can see, Lost is nominated for the following Emmy Awards:

Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series
Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series
Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series
Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series
Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing For A Series
Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series
Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series

While Lost isn’t nominated for the outstanding drama series award which it won at last year’s Emmy awards, the above nominations shouldn’t go unnoticed. There is much work behind a show like Lost and these nominations are all very well deserved.

Congratulations to the entire Lost cast for winning the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards yesterday!

Terry O’Quinn, who plays the mysterious John Locke spoke for the cast when recieving the award:

A friend of mine always says, if you don’t have something nice to say about someone, let’s hear it. [laughter] So, about our cast, I’d like to say that this is the saddest collection of climbing, grasping, paranoid, backstabbing, scene-grabbing, losers and schmoozers, [laughter] that you ever saw on your stage in your life. [applause] But we love each other very much. And we want to thank our fellow members of the Guild for recognizing us as an ensemble. And we would like to take this singular opportunity to express our gratitude, to J.J. Abrams, and Damon Lindelof, for creating what is clear an ensemble piece.

Once again, congrats to the Lost cast and crew. If you want to check out the rest of the winners, head on over to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
