Michelle Rodriguez tells her version of the story

When actress Michelle Rodriguez who played the now dead Ana-Lucia during Season 2 left the show, there were many rumors that her departure was caused by her then recent alcohol related run-ins with the law.

Michelle has now decided to tell her version of the story, and if what she is writing is true, I feel pretty sorry for her:

I was at the mall when I checked my messages and found that I was invited to watch Eve’s episode at her home. I had bin working on the show for about 6 to 7 months and hadn’t really had many moments to get to know some of the cast because some of us barely worked together, so I thought this would be a good opportunity. Being that I was going to spend christmas and new years off the island i thought ‘why not buy a nice bottle of champaign and chocolates’. So I did and I left the mall and made my way to Eve’s house…

I get there we watch the episode, eat some food, drink some champaign, talk about our holiday plans, and I decide to go because I’ve got an hour drive home to the north shore where I lived. Eve tells me I’ve had a drink and should probably stay over if it’s getting late. I thought to myself: well what if I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and I pee too loud, or what if I snore, sleep walk, or talk in my sleep.” I didn’t feel like I knew her well enough to embarrass myself in her home, let alone sleep over. My first inclination was Hotel. Then my friend and fellow cast member whom I had bin working with every day says: ” stay over my house I’m five minutes from here.” I thought to myself, I feel comfortable around her, she wouldn’t be surprised by anything I do… So I decided, five minutes away, at 15 miles an hour, never killed a pot head… So my dumb ass followed her home. I guess a drink or two can make you reason like a teenager or an insecure dork.

We get stopped driving like 15 miles an hour down a 35 to 40 mph road. I cry, this sucks ass, I get over it take pictures with some cops at precinct on their camera phone, take a breathalyzer and go home a couple of hours later. I hire some lawyer from hawaii, loose my 28 acres of land and my home in jersey paying him off, just so I can get the same treatment I would have gotten from a public defender. I realized my payday in movies was way better than T.V. at that moment….

Tonight’s new Lost episode, which is the first of the final four episodes in Lost Season 2, is titled “Two for the Road” and this is the official description:

Spoilers if you have not yet seen “Two for the Road”

Jack and Kate bring an exhausted Michael back to the camp, and with him, news about “The Others.” Meanwhile, Ana Lucia attempts to get the prisoner to confess, and Hurley plans a surprise date for Libby.

As always, feel free to discuss this Lost episode in the comments.

Also, remember to keep an eye open for any clues to the interactive Lost experience.

Update:
Wow, just wow. “Two for the Road” was probably one of the best and most shocking Lost episodes of this season. If the final 3 episodes are as intense as this one then, well… most of the cast might get killed.

Rumors about Ana-Lucia’s death have been circulating on the net for quite some time, but I don’t think anyone was expecting Michael to shoot her. The real question though is what brought Michael to shoot first Ana-Lucia, then Libby and finally himself (in the arm).

Judging from the expression on Michael’s face when he shot Ana and Libby, it was not something he was very happy about having to do. My guess is that The Others told Michael to act as their mole and free Henry, or they would kill Walt. I don’t believe that he has been brainwashed and I don’t believe that the others are using some form of mind-control on him, he simply wants to get his son back alive.

I agree with the commenters who believe that Michael shot himself in the arm to be able to tell Jack and the other losties that “Henry” got hold of the gun, shot Michael, Ana and Libby and escaped. I felt that this was pretty clear at the end of the scene.

I wonder if he shot Ana-Lucia because he was specifically told to kill her, or if he shot her because he needed to free Henry and at the same time keep the losties believing in his story and that he is on their side. If he just needed to free Henry, he could have told Ana to let Henry out and then escaped with him since he was in control of the only gun in the hatch. The fact that Michael killed her seems to point to the fact that he couldn’t afford to be revealed as a mole.

Aside from the shocking ending, there where several other things of interest in this episode.

“Henry” said some interesting things, but more on that will be posted in it’s own post since this entry would get to long otherwise.

Jack’s father, Christian Shephard reappeared in Ana-Lucia’s flashback and so did Sawyer. We found out that Christian Shephard apparently has a daughter with a woman living in Sydney, so Jack has a half-sister. Could this unknown sister be Claire, or maybe the young girl who was among the tail section survivors?

Those of you who have found it strange that so few of the lost castaways have had sex on the island also got what you where asking for. Ana-Lucia and Sawyer ended up doing it in the jungle, but it was probably just Ana-Lucia’s way of getting Sawyer’s gun. No pun intended.

I’m sure there are other things that need to be discussed but most things are pretty well covered by our visitors in the comments of this post so keep on reading, and stay tuned - a follow up post discussing Henry’s revelations in the Lost episode “Two for the Road” will be posted within the hour.

Rodriguez goes to Jail

According to people.aol.com, Michelle Rodriguez who portrays Lost’s Ana-Lucia pleaded guilty to DUI charges in Hawaii on Tuesday. The judge offered her a choice between 240 hours of community service or five days in jail. Rodriguez chose the jail time. She will also pay a $500 fine.

The 5-day sentence started the same day so Michelle will probably not miss any Lost scenes.

However, according to the same publication, she still faces up to 18 months in Los Angeles County Jail for violating probation stemming from a previous DUI and a hit-and-run in Los Angeles.

Rodriguez rumors false according to Lindelof

TV Guide’s Ask Ausellio column took a closer look at the whole “Ana-Lucia is getting killed off because of Michelle Rodriguez’s behavior on an of the set” rumor. According to LOST executive producer Damon Lindelof, the rumors are nothing but speculation.

“It’s all huff and puff and speculation. Not a word of it is true.” He goes on to say that if he were going to whack Ana Lucia — and that’s a big “were” — it wouldn’t be because of Rodriguez’s behavior. “Lost’s story is the star, and no actor would ever be killed off for any other reason than supporting the story.”

I’m glad this turned out to be just a rumor.

Rodriguez told to get Lost?

According to ninemsn, Lost producers are planning to kill off Michelle Rodriguez’s character Ana-Lucia. Diva-like behavior and the bad publicity brought on by the drunk driving arrest has, according to the source, made Rodriguez a nightmare to work with.

“The producers are fed up with the fact that she barely shows up on the set and is always in a bad mood. They said she was getting killed off as soon as they could write it in.”

Michelle’s spokesperson could not discuss her future in Lost but said that “Michelle is very proud of her work”.

I don’t know how much I believe this. I have no idea how Michelle is to work with, but killing of Ana-Lucia right now seems like a bad idea. She is becoming a character with more depth and the Jack/Ana-Lucia relationship has started to take off. I think Ana-Lucia has great potential to be an important part of the deeper Lost story, she has even started to gain popularity with the viewers who hated her furiously throughout the first few episodes.

But to be fair, who expected Boone to die? Not even the actors themselves know if their character will live to see the next episode, and in my opinion, that’s part of what makes Lost so exciting.

Michelle Rodriguez talks respect

Michelle Rodriguez who portrays Ana-Lucia on Lost, is on one of four celebrity covers of People en Español magazine’s “New Hollywood” debut issue.

Besides making the cover look great, Rodriguez talks about Hawaii, Lost and her respect for other people. Michelle says she treats people with respect unless provoked.

“My family taught me about ethics and the importance of respecting everybody, but, if someone is disrespectful to me, then we have a problem.”

“New Hollywood” will be in newsstands February 6th.

On a side note, I’m starting to like Ana-Lucia as a character. Not that I ever hated her like it seems everyone else did in the beginning, but the writers are making her more and more into a likable character. My guess is that some people won’t like Jack’s newfound friend as much as he does though, so wear a helmet and watch out for the drama.
