Rousseau is the little girl that gave Ben a birthday present in this week’s (5/9/07) episode. She gave birth to Alex, making her the missing link on the show. The Others current mission is to solve this whole giving-birth, but dying thing, and Alex, birthed by Rousseau (and possibly fathered by Ben) is how the Others will solve this problem (which is why Rousseau won’t go near Mikhael- sorry about the spelling, or any of the Others without them being trapped- she doesn’t want to be found out and tested…)

If Alex and Locke passed through the fence, it must have been turned off first, so while it was turned off, Rousseau passed throught it too.

Whether she saw Alex inside or outside the fence, she still escaped the sonice fence without detection. The question still remains, how did she get out?

Actually, it’s possible that at that point she was beyond the perimeter of the sonic fence. They were close to the water, and Locke went all the way down to the water to access the sub. I don’t think the fence is present in the water, so at some point the 3 of them (Locke, Alex, and Rousseau) must have passed through the fence.

That is certainly possible, but (as usual) I see it differently…

At the end of TMFT, or really any time Rousseau sees Alex by herself, she couldn’t exactly walk right up to her and say, “Hi, Alex, I’m your mother”. Why on earth would Alex believe some crazy looking woman who appeared out of the woods all of a sudden? D&C alluded to this in a recent podcast, saying Rousseau had some issues to work out before she could approach Alex (not that we have to believe what D&C say in this instance – they certainly don’t want to give away anything crucial about Rousseau).

As far as Rousseau’s attempt to exchange Aaron for Alex – in that case she would deal directly with Ben or one of the more senior Others as opposed to Alex directly. I doubt Ben would go for it, not wanting to give up Alex, but Rousseau doesn’t know that. What she does know is that in the past they took Alex from her as a baby, and they kidnapped Claire because they wanted her baby. So in her mind, it’s babies (and Aaron in particular) they want, so it’s worth trying to offer to exchange
for Alex. What does she have to lose by trying?

This makes me wonder why she didn’t approach Alex when she had the chance. If she really thought she could “exchange” for Alex, she wasn’t worried about any issues with a reunion a month ago (their time), so why would she hold back now? I contend because she is not allowed. The others have an agreement/ban with her.

Danielle is not CURRENTLY an other, but that doesn’t mean she wasn’t at some point. I never bought her story about the scientific exploration team marooned on the island 16years ago. However her story about the sickness seems to ring true to me somehow. I maintain that there’s a possibility that Ben IS Alex’s real father and that the husband that Rousseau says she killed is someone entirely different. Her story has too many holes and she’s a little too crazy to believe everything she says.
