Good luck Andreas. I have already noticed that your attention is waning as far as commenting in the threads. I fear that this blog will lose “what it is” when a person with a different vision takes it over. All good things must end, I hoped it would be when Lost ended.

Hammer, thanks. It’s true that I haven’t had as much time as I’d like to take part in the discussions but I’m trying to read as much as possible, and a lot of times you guys have already said the same things I was thinking about.

I understand your concern, but I really hope to find a new owner who can bring something new and interesting to the table. Change doesn’t have to be bad and I really hope that the site keeps running with high quality until Lost ends, with or without me.

Andreas I have missed your comments these last few months and hope that when you find a replacement that person keeps the blog as tuned in and intelligent as you have over the years. I am also interested in the overall site analytics, such as page views per unique, overhead costs for site maintenance (hosting/bandwidth), and monthly revenue via adsense/other outlets. Please feel free to send me an email.

Andreas, its been 2 weeks since i found this place and i already love it and as you can see everyone else does too. You have brought many lost fans together to discuss the show and that should be applauded. I hope you can fulfill your dreams and ambitions and im sure whoever takes over your position will be great, but you will always be greater.

Respect is hard to earn, but you have earned mine for doing one simple thing. You have brought fans together for broader views on the show. Enjoy your life after this and i hope to chat with you sooner rather than later

I’m glad to hear that you appreciate how I run the site, it means a lot to me.

The Lost King - I can only hope to one day be involved in creating shows or movies of the same caliber as Lost. The producers haven’t asked me to direct an episode yet though ;)

If you’re putting in more than 20 hours per month, you’re making less than minimum wage.

Plus, when the season ends, what kind of numbers do you expect. Unless you could provide a stategy for gaining on the competing blogs (like getting scoops from ABC), I’d rethink the asking price. Just my 2 cents.

Suggestion: enlist group authorship. I know it’ll mean splitting the take, but if you’re not confident the blog will grow, why would it be worth someone paying $3,000?

Bizzy, it is irrelevant if the site’s revenue is less than minimum wage since running a website like The Lost Blog can’t be considered a full-time job. If you’re only interested in the site for the money, I’m sure the revenue could be increased.

Like I wrote above, $3000 is a figure that I would be happy with considering among other things, the site’s popularity, brand and the time and work I’ve put into the site.

Only the design would cost $1-2000 if you asked a designer to design and code it as well as customize plugins to look good. A lot goes into creating a popular website which isn’t apparent at first glance, so yes, I do feel that the price is justified, if not even to low.

With that said, I might very well sell the site for a somewhat lower figure as long as I’m confident that the buyer would take good care of the site.

Well that is bas news …

I gotta say I never understood how you ran the site, how much time does it take you per week ? I don’t know anything about computer engineering or site management.

Why do you really want leave it ? what about working on it with some other fans (in a wiki style), it could still be yours and thus you could check if it’s good.
Why wouldn’t you select some good readers to write interesting posts (like you did for Cecilia or Job) and take care of the designing thing ?

Anyway Andreas, I want you know you did a huge thing for the Lost community and Lost producers should be a bite more grateful towards a guy like you.
Official Lost blogs are boring, and only yours is regurlarly updated with interesting posts. As you might know, I also enjoy 24 (which become a bite boring this year) but I never found any good blog about it … Is it because of Lost specifity as a show or because of you ? The only thing I can say is that this blog is my favourite one on the internet (well among others written by famous French people here … that you surely don’t know though !)

Thank you for this blog and as a French proverb would say about your ambitions in fiction : “it’s much better to live your dreams than to dream your life”.

Have you thought about using the blog (and the traffic it generates) to further your personal goals? The two things may not be as contradictory as they seem. Look at how the “Aint it Cool” guys parlayed their site into gigs in the movie business. You do this well and it seems a shame to throw that away.

I have to agree with Matt here.

I would instead think of your blog as a huge reference and portfolio. It has probably allready showed directors and screenwriters that you are interested in their field of expertise. It really shows that you are motivated in writing and that you like to present what you write in a good way.
