To hell with the numbers;
I want to know how the hell Freckles was able to get off from the crimes the Police were chasing her for?
All this numbers theory stuff is so boring.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
From lostpedia:
Her mother was to be the "star witness" against Kate. Kate's mother was weakened by a terminal illness: she explained that she did not want to testify, and would not if she was allowed to see her "grandson". Kate refused, but Diane still did not testify. ("Eggtown")

After this development, the prosecution offered Kate a deal: 10 years of probation and confinement to the state of California.

If it had been recently moved to where we know it there would be no way for the seeds and such of tropical plants to get there and germinate and to grow so large. That's a very interesting idea - the island moving to a different climate. Maybe that's how the polar bears once survived on the island. If it did move someplace cold how would the people left on the island adapt to that?

Also, I thought pushing the button in the hatch was resetting time.

Cindy, sthe stewardess gave Jack 2 bottles of liquor. One he pored into his drink and one he put in his pocket. On the island he drank some and then saved the rest for his wound.

Desmond turning the key made the island "visible" for a while. It led toWidmore finding it. Moving the island made it "impossible" for Widmore to find again. The two things are different but related.

I think that the hatch was like a storage bin for power (electromagnic) created by the island. They had to push the button every 108 minutes to "let off steam" from the tank so it wouldn't overload. When Locke broke the computer Desmond had to turn the failsafe key to prevent the storage tank from building up too much energy and destroying the island. Turning the key "blew the hatch" on the tank and released all the currently storred power. The release of this power is how Penny's men were able to see the island for a moment and then track it down.

When Ben moved the island he drew on some of the same island energy but concentrated in a different way. This also released energy causing a purple sky but since the island is now somewhere else that won't help Widmore find them again.

The person moving the island ending up somewhere else seems like a bouncing effect of some sort. Like a rebound or the kickback when a gun is fired. My question is why can't you go back once you move the island. Is it because you can't find it anymore? or because you could be tracked there or harm the island in some way?

Can you send those links again? They didn't work when I tried them.

Jack didn't use the liquor directly, it was a few scenes later.
My apologies. I'll try it again. If it doesn't work, it was comment 373 from the last thread. Just click on Archives then TNPLH part 1.

Is that it? It’s hard for me to tell. The opening scene of Ben’s FF did remind me of Jack in the pilot episode, although Jack didn’t puke like Ben

I am looking forward to Monday's this fall. Aside from the fantastic show Heroes, LOST will be airing on Sci-Fi. For more info look under the "Fantasy League" thread.

As for the liquor bottle being the same, not sure about that. Did he pull the bottle from his pocket and then directly use it? Or was it another scene later in the episode? I can't remember, but the plane would have been full of mini-liquor bottles.
Bailey,

I saw on another blog something that might one of the things that was relevant about the first episode. Keep in mind, the name of the first episode is "Pilot". Frank said he was supposed to be the pilot of 815. The actual pilot was killed by Smokey for no apparent reason. We have learned this season that Smokey has rules, which is why Smokey didn't kill all of the mercs. Smokey may have killed the actual pilot because it was not his "destiny" to be on the island.
I think this was mentioned on this posting before, but it's been awhile. Someone mentioned before that there is some sort of relevant information in the pilot episode. I rewatched that episode recently, and the opening scene is the close-up of Jack's eye when he is laying in the jungle. Then he also finds a bottle of liquor in his jacket pocket. Then at some point Vincent ran by. When the showed his flashback to when he was on the plane, the stewardess (I'm drawing a blank on her name) came over and gave him a free bottle of the liquor - which I thought he poured into his drink and drank it. Well, he later used that bottle to pour on his wound to disinfect it. Anyway, I think that this was a very key moment. Any thoughts on this??
It has been specualeted before that the baton Ben used was lying next to Jack in the opening scene. This is from the thread TNPLH part 1.

That didn’t work to well. But take a look at these 2.

That is from Ben in the desert. Take a close look at the baton. Now take a look at this screencap from the PILOT episode.

Is that it? It’s hard for me to tell. The opening scene of Ben’s FF did remind me of Jack in the pilot episode, although Jack didn’t puke like Ben.

As for the liquor bottle being the same, not sure about that. Did he pull the bottle from his pocket and then directly use it? Or was it another scene later in the episode? I can't remember, but the plane would have been full of mini-liquor bottles.
