We received a lot of great submissions to the Lost Theory Competition. It’s been tough, but the three winners have been chosen.

Cecilia and I independently read and scored the theories. We then combined our scores and found the top entries, which we discussed and compared against each other to choose the best of the best.

The Winners

1st Prize: “The Numbers’ Noble Lie” by Bigmouth
2nd Prize: “Backdraft of Ben & Juliet” by Pastor2churches
3rd Prize: “Save the children, save the world” by Lesley

The winning entries will be published on the site starting today with the winning theory “The Numbers’ Noble Lie“. The second and third place theories will be published the following days.

A special mention goes out to the theory “Agenda and how the island came to be” by Jaystao, which came in at 4th place. That theory along with a few others will be published on the site next week.

Congratulations to the winners and a very big thank you to all the participants for submitting some great theories!

  1. Thanks to all who participated, and congrats to the winners.

  2. All the theories I’ve read are very feasible. To me we are still at the point where anything is possible. Basically we know almost all of the “effects”, but very few “causes”. But, like all great works of art, the artist must establish an entire background before concentrating on the foreground.

So big ups to all of those that were brave enough to put themselves out there with such extensive theories. Its getting brutal out there.

A bit to late to submit an entry, sorry mark ;)

  5. mark: Sorry, that one is also discredited by the writers…

  6. I like how none of the winners mention the smoke monster…

    Actually, mike, Lesley does.

A theory that among other things discusses the smoke monster will be published tomorrow =)

There were some good theories that didn’t win because the ideas in them were already out there. We wanted some fresh perspectives on Lost, and I think the three winning theories all have that.
