A new official Lost audio podcast was just released!

Henry Ian Cusick talks about the challenges of playing Desmond. And Executive Producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse answer the question, did Desmond really travel through time? They tease “Stranger In A Strange Land” (2/21/07).

  1. Funny guys. Good banjo playing. Wish there was a little bit more content.

  2. I agree - with all their podcasts I wish there was more content.

One thing that confused me - Henry Ian Cusick said he was hired for just a 3-episode arc, which I assume would be the first few episodes of season 2, up to the point where he ran away from the hatch. But the response that Damon and Carlton give to the question about how far ahead they had planned Desmond’s story implies that they knew they’d need to use the fail-safe key. This indicates that they knew they’d bring Desmond back at some point - otherwise, how would the Losties find out about the fail-safe key? Or were Damon and Carlton lying about having a plan for the whole story, and they are making it all up as they go along (as many critics have suggested - personally I doubt this is the case)? Or, did they originally tell Henry Ian Cusick they only needed him for 3 episodes in order to minimize any giveaways to the storyline? Any thoughts?
