The “Lost” Emmy Nominations

The Associate Press writes about what they call Lost’s “surprising lack of presence among this year’s Emmy nominees”.

“My first reaction to it was, `Good.’ I don’t want us to become that show that becomes so righteous, so above everything else, that we’re untouchable,” said Evangeline Lilly, who will serve as a presenter at the Aug. 27 Emmy telecast.

“When we started, our big question was, `Will anybody even watch this show?’ And then when people started watching, we were thrilled. And then when we got recognized critically, we were beside ourselves. So, when we didn’t get nominated, all we had to do was remember where we came from.”

Lost executive producer and writer Carlton Cuse continued:

“Were we disappointed that we didn’t get a nomination for the show? Yes.” he said. “But the show has been so blessed: the attention, the success. We’re not going to focus too long on what we don’t have.”

Now I don’t know if I am misinterpreting the list of nominations, but from what I can see, Lost is nominated for the following Emmy Awards:

Outstanding Casting For A Drama Series
Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series
Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series
Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series
Outstanding Single-Camera Sound Mixing For A Series
Outstanding Special Visual Effects For A Series
Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series

While Lost isn’t nominated for the outstanding drama series award which it won at last year’s Emmy awards, the above nominations shouldn’t go unnoticed. There is much work behind a show like Lost and these nominations are all very well deserved.

I’ll say it…the best work done is the work that goes unrecognized. :)

  3. Indeed. LOST is defientely one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

And now for an interesting LOST tidbit-

The company I work for subscribes to a magazine called CRN, as seen here: http://www.crn.com/ I was flipping though it while waiting for some stuff, and I happened across and ad for NEC, who makes nice stuff like monitors and TV screens and the like. It was a decent ad, showing off their new big-ol’ screens you can piece together to make an even bigger screen, and it was showing some mock news report across two of the three screens, with the left-most screen being some sort of greeting sign.

    However.

Upon further examination of the ad’s mock news report’s ticker tape, it reads and I quote, ” (cutoff here)pod Nano. Dharma Initiative takes co(cutoff).” I reacted with some surprise to find this in an NEC ad. THEN, I looked to the leftmost screen and it reads: “Welcome our guests:
    Dr. Jack Sheppard
    Kate Austen
    Charlie Pace
    Michael Dawson
    Hugo Reyes
    James Ford
    John Locke
    Claire Littleton”

Either the ad guys at NEC are big fans of LOST, or this might be some sort of clue thing. I dunno.

  4. omg i think you should have an award for hottest doctor on your show!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, Henry Ian Cusic has done a great job portraying Desmond. He has become one of my favourite characters.

All the actors on Lost are doing a great job, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Mr.Eko) and Michael Emerson (Henry) have given us some amazing performances this season and If it had been up to me, they would have both been nominated.

  7. I knew for a couple of weeks that Desmond was nominated, really really really GIVE HIM THE AWARD … this guy was simply AMAZING.

Honestly, his performance in the finale upset me like no other actor ever did. I can’t think of an interpretation of such class in a show … maybe Dennis Haybert (did he get an award, I think so) or Georges Clooney in ER.

God … I am just begging the academy to reward him !!!

I’m still crying about Michael Emerson not being nominated for anything.
