I don't think we have enough information to determine that yet. But with what we do have, I'd say either Michael or an unseen as of yet character.

If you have Season 3 dvd, there is an Orientation film, the Orchid, on the Bonus disc which may shed some light on some questions.

SPOILER (not really, but sensitive types might think so)

First. I am pretty sure that this is a hurley centric episode, not jack like implied in the original post.

Second in a podcast with damon and carlton last year. They revealed that "the coffin" scene was originally shot (or intended to be) with locke in it. However, they later decided not to reveal this. Maybe they changed their mind. But, either way, i think locke should be a top potential for consideration.

I know this isn't really the correct thread. However, with the "begening of the end" tonight, i cant help but think that the end might just come too soon (8 episodes short to be exact). So, here is my question: many think that the writers strike could end within a week or two. If this happens do you think that the LOST crew will be able to get it together in time to finish the season out? When do you think the writers strike need to end to finish out the season? Does anyone have any information about this? By my logic, if it ends by episode four, they should have have enough time. but, who knows.

This isn't info about anything I've heard, just a lost theory I usually think of. Referring back to the "Whose in the coffin?" question, if I had to guess, My best guess would be Jack's ex-Wife (cant remember the name). Jack has been seen very depressed (even on the verge of suicide) in his flash-forward; he might have still cared for her and the reason why he wanted to get off the island might have been to see her again, but the news of her death ruined his goal. He then realizes that he had found a better life on the island and tries to get back to it many times (possibly some of his friends decided to stay there). doesn't explain how kate knew about his ex-wifes death but hopefully questions will be answered soon :) maybe even in a couple of hours...

o god, i can hear the heavens opening up and the halleilujiah chorus (and i just spelled that wrong).

- who's in the coffin? i say either michael or walt. michael's to easy to guess, and walt is a bit more shocking. most likely michael tho, i think.

- it's not jack's wife antoni g. his wife was at the hospital after jack almost jumped off the bridge. i guess she could be in the coffin, but i doubt it. very, very unlikely.

- and i think the real reason why he wanted to get back home was so he could go to the hospital and fix people, but then he didn't have enough to fix, and/or he messed up really bad his first time getting off the island (leaving people behind? letting them die? killing them? they're all unhappy when they leave the island?)

- less than 2 hours till the show begins!!!

I don't think we have seen the person in the coffin, but i think it is someone who can get Jack back to the island. Why else would he be crying over someone he says is not family or friend. The guy has links to the island that Jack needs if he ever wants to get back, and he is emotional because that link is now dead. (thats what I think at least).

to me, it makes the most sense to be ben or locke. The other losties aren't at the funeral because they are glad to have gotten off the island. However, jack is crying because he realizes he "has to go back." So, he is upset because they told him he didn't really want to leave.

Fantastic start to Season 4!!! A perfect blend of intrigue and of course, some comic relief. It is incredibly sad that Charlie died, however, as always, the show does not really "let" anyone die. Even Ana Lucia came back in a way!

I did not realize it was John Locke's eye that popped up in the window to Jacob's house...aah! So cool! He's been chilling with Jacob...I guess Jacob gives him orders now instead of Ben.

I am wondering why Hurley said he was sorry for going with Locke. What happened to those with Locke? Are they in further danger? I believe that must be the case. I think Jack and them feel guilty for leaving their friends in peril.

The Oceanic 6: Hurley, Jack, Kate...and three missing (could Walt and Michael be two more?)

Overall, wonderful episode. This ep obviously predates the flash forward of the finale of Season 3 since Jack was not yet obsessed with going back and gave us the clue of him wanting to grow a beard.

The question is: what sparks Jack's sudden frantic need to go back? Does Charlie appear to him, too?

Awesome episode...really excited to see next week!!!

Tip: If you can watch this with DVR, do it...pausing and rewinding makes it a much more pleasant experience!

Why not Ben? All of the others are pretty much dead, he killed his dad on the island, and none of the people on Oceanic Flight liked him. This all explains why no one would have come to the wake. Jack may have developed a realtionship with him later, explaining his reason to go to the wake.

However whoever is in the coffin has to be one of the 'six' that left the island (per Hurley's commment). I figure 4 of the six are: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer. not sure who the other two are. With that said, Ben most likely didn't leave the island so that would keep him from being in the coffin. I just negated my original theory. :P Now i'm back to square one.....I have no clue who is in the coffin. Gotta love LOST!

YAY! LOST is back!

Ok, my thoughts

At the beginning, when Hurley was in the car chase, we saw Jack drinking. i think he is already wanting to go back and was lying to hurley about being back to work

also, i think jacob's house moved when hurley saw it maybe b/c locke broke the ash circle around the house. i know everyone talked about that ben maybe kept jacob trapped there with the ash, and locke is now fulfilling jacob's request to "help me"

finally, what the hell did charlie mean when he said, "i'm dead, but i'm also here"? where is here?

also, one question, i don't have dvr so i couldn't rewind, but when hurley has his first visitor in the mental hospital, the "oceanic atty", what did the man whisper to him right before he left? i think he said someone wasn't dead, but i didn't catch it. thanks for the help!

that was awesomely amazingly lost!

- begining...awesome!!!! loved it! jack to hurley. hurley's freakin out again.

- yeah jack, is already drinking, but i think he goes down slow. i think he knows he has to go back too, but he doesn't want to admit he's wrong so he's in denial.

- this show is starting to get depressing. depresing past, depresing present, and depressing future. not much to look forward to. but it's SO depressingly addictive! =]

- nobody else said this: jack is a would be killer!!! he pulled the trigger to kill locke!!!! luckily it wasn't loaded, but jack is not Mr. Nice Guy anymore now is he?

- i've decided the last episode ever of lost will have the oceanic 6 back on the island (crashed, landed, however), jack (or whoever) will say "we're home." they're meant to be on the island...and i believe in happy endings. first ep of the fourth, and i'm already predicting the end when there's a writers strike!

- so if hurley decides to stay on the island, how does he get off??? why does he leave locke's group?

- what can't they (oceanic 6) tell? what are they lying about? what happened to the rest of their group? where the island is? what happened on the boat? everything that happened on the island? WHAT????

What an awesome way to kick off Season 4! So much to digest here - just a couple of random thoughts:

1) Anyone else notice Christian Shepherd in the rocking chair this time? I'll post a screen capture at some point tomorrow, but I am about 100% sure that is who Hurley saw

2) Charlie showing up nearly blew my mind - except that we all know Hurley is crazy

3) Hurley's apology to Jack about siding with Locke throws another wrench in the puzzle as it relates to what happens

4) How intense was it when Jack pulled the trigger - Lost rules.

finally, what the hell did charlie mean when he said, "i'm dead, but i'm also here"? where is here?

I am not sure but I think it has something to do with Echo, And that other guy who Lock spoke to when he was in the tent working on some potion... that time he couldnt speak... anyway. When they all came, they had a message. SO I guess they come when its important. OR Jacob can transform into anyone who has died? OR Jacob helps them come back when needed?

Maybe "not out boat" means only a select few can go?

what are your thoughts?

The scene when Hurley broke down crying as he had to tell Claire that Charlie had died just had me in tears. Really fine acting job Jorge!! For some reason I thought Hurley had seen Locke sitting in that chair in that shack. Season 4 will not disappoint!!! Best show on TV by far.

Great episode, but after cramming in all of Season 3 in the last week or so, now it will be hard to readjust to waiting a week for the next episode.

I agree – looked like Christian sitting in Jacob’s chair.

To Becky – I don’t think that was Locke’s eye in Jacob’s cabin – Locke has blue eyes, this eye was darker.

After seeing 3000 commercials for it, I don’t think I will ever give Eli Stone a chance.

Interesting that Ben truthfully told Jack that Kate took the phone, as opposed to playing mind games. Or perhaps this is the set up for future mind games – if he occasionally tells the truth, people won’t think he’s always lying.

Nice touch by the writers- Jack told Hurley he was thinking of growing a beard, and Hurley says he’d look terrible. I think this was an acknowledgement of the numerous complaints about Jack’s fake beard in the season 3 finale.

“Oceanic 6” – it will be interesting to see if other Losties choose to stay (probably Locke, Rose & Bernard) or if they got killed. Or maybe some got off the island but have to live under a new identity or in a sort of witness protection. I’m thinking specifically about Kate – she was wanted for murder. I can’t imagine she’d be allowed to go free upon returning to the US. Maybe this is part of her agreement – she’s set up with a new identity in a new location in exchange for keeping whatever secrets need to be kept.

The first man to visit Hurley in the psych ward...I think it was Yemi, Echo's brother who died in the plane crash. Anyone else notice that? It would seem the "island" has followed them back to civilization and is encouraging their return.
Also, second comment now about the "lies".Jack said it and now Hurley. Maybe in order to be rescued they had to lie about something..other people left behind, the island location????Whatever it is, it's driving them crazy!!

Totally rocked my socks, and the oceanic teaser thing was useless since it's the same video's we've been watching for a while.

a couple of observations that i don't think are that impressive, but may prove to be so. The island/jacob seems to be pretty adept at manifesting forms that interact with our losties. i am under the impression that hurley's conversation with charlie was in fact with a manifestation of the island. to broaden this a bit, after hurley's conversation, he tells/asks jack to go back to the island. I betcha that we're gonna see jack talking to his father about going back to the island, as jack was drunkenly referring to his dad still being around during (what we believe is, previous flash backs may possibly flash forwards) the first flash forward from the finale of season 3.

something else i was thinking about was, what would the point be in running away? so if every stayed in one spot, they'd be killed by dharma people/outside influential people/frigatees. Locke was definitely told that people would be killed if they would stay as this was his goal. so by leaving, locke and gang will be protected? i am getting the impression that the island, four toed dude, or some other force is going to make itself present because i am not exactly sure what else can protect locke and gang from the intruders. or stuff.

ahhh, i forgot, the guy (yemi? really? naw, no way) who visits hurley in the psych ward. I am just going out on a limb and assuming he's associated with the frigatees/dharma (assumptions here, totally free to different opinions). he asks a question that seems to imply that the people left behind are secured in their island bubble. does dharma/frigatees lose and vacate? does the island force them out? something even crazier? this character is pointing to plot points that i think are much farther into our future viewing than any other question one can get from the episode. IMHO of course.

I'll take a crack at what's going on with Hurley. I think Charlie was a figment of his imagination. I wonder if the guy who said there was someone staring at Charlie was also a figment of his imagination, or just another psycho was inadvertently playing into Hurley’s delusion. You would think that if Charlie was a real flesh and blood character, he would have shown up on that store’s video tape, and the detective (Bull Randleman!!) would have shown him video of different people who were in the store, to see how Hurley reacts to seeing those people.

It seems that on the island he is starting to become delusional – he really did see Jacob’s cabin, but he witnessed some creepy things there and may have thought he imagined it all. Then his mind plays tricks on him and makes him think he’s seeing the cabin in a different location. He closes his eyes, and the cabin’s gone, so he’s sure he’s starting to go crazy. This is one instance of Lost where it makes perfect sense that one character (Hurley) doesn’t tell another character (Locke) what he saw (Jacob’s cabin).

My guess is that he feels guilty about whatever happened on the island, and feels guilty about lying about it, and this is contributing to his mental breakdown. Charlie represented his conscience, telling Hurley that he has to tell, and “they need you”. Maybe some people are still held on the island against their will? Or maybe Charlie’s referring to Losties who got killed, and he’s saying that justice should be served.

I also wonder if Hurley denying knowing Ana Lucia is part of the cover-up. Can’t talk about murders, can’t risk a full-blown investigation.

Sorry for being so wordy. Thanks for reading, if you made it this far.

"oceanic atty" definitely NOT yemi

but i still need to know, who did he tell hurley was not dead?

also, i feel like the writers paralleled hurley's interaction w/ oceanic atty and charlie: in both, someone walks up to hurley and tells him someone wants to talk to him/is staring at him

i know the writers like to trick us, but it may be that they are actually suggesting that charlie is really there, not just a figment of his imagination, b/c we can probably believe the nurse was truthful that the atty was really there to speak to hurley

or, i'm just reading too much into this, hmmm

I have a question -

How did Locke know that Charlie wrote "Not Penny's Boat" on his hand before he died/not-really-dead-died?

Remember? When Locke finds Hurley (Hugo! Why is everyone calling him Hugo now?) right after Hurley sees Jacob's Moving House? Locke offers "Not Penny's Boat" before Hurley says anything.

Did "Only-Mostly-Dead Charlie" visit Locke too?

Oooooo....

I want to puke...just got home to watch it on DVR. Direct TV DVR took a shit...it's in the To Do list as "not recorded"...banging my head against the wall.

Does abc.com still put new eps on the site the next day?

also, one question, i don't have dvr so i couldn't rewind, but when hurley has his first visitor in the mental hospital, the "oceanic atty", what did the man whisper to him right before he left? i think he said someone wasn't dead, but i didn't catch it. thanks for the help!
The Oceanic attorney asked Hurley "Are they still alive?".
I really don't think he's Yemi. I think that's a big stretch.

Surprised it hasn't come up already, my 9 year old caught it.....when Hurley and the "Oceanic attorney" were talking...the chalkboard behind them had drawings of:

an island
a shark
a raft

Aslo, the drawing Hurley was doing before guardian angel Charlie showed up was of an igloo with a person (S2 finale shoutout?)

Not only was John Terry (the actor who plays Christian Shepard) credited in the episode, he was given credit on IMDB. Both mean he was in the episode. i think it's safe to say Jacob is being played by John Terry. The resemblance is more obvious after this episode. Whether Jacob is Christian Shepard or not is yet to be seen. (Jacob could just like to take forms of dead people).

One thing I noticed while DVR pausing the cabin scene: There's a painting in the cabin of a dog that looks like Walt's.

Oh, and the freaky eye was definitely not Locke. Possibly could've been Mikhail.

How about Kate and Juliet both staying with Jack. Catfight anyone?

How about Kate and Juliet both staying with Jack. Catfight anyone?

i agree that i think the person in jacobs house in the rocking chair was jack's dad. But we just watched it again in slow motion and i think the person whose eye we see looking out that scares Hurley is in fact Hurley! If you watch in slow mo, you see the man approach and you can see he has big brown hair (can't be Locke)and his eye looks like Hurley's.

One more thing...i heard this on a talk show this morning for a preview of this season. Apparently they will find a plane that says Oceanic Flight 815 at the bottom of the ocean and there is people inside.

I feel like there is something to do with 'mirror' images of people. In the future Jack is the opposite of what he was on the island, same for Hurely. Locke is opposite on the island then what he was in the past flashbacks.
Interesting how they kept saying that everyone who crashed had all 'lost' their faith in some way but regained it on the island....

I don't think that just cause he was in the credits means he's in the episode, cause Harold Perrineau (Michael) was also listed in the credits, yet he did not appear in the premiere.
Regarding Hurley's comment about Ana Lucia, I don't think it had anything specific to do with her being dead or anything...I think that Oceanic 6 for some reason have to lie about how many people survived the plane crash, ie. only the 6 of them did. For some reason, whoever ends up letting the 6 off the island, they choose only them. I don't think that whoever is left chooses to stay, because Locke is pretty much the only person who would actually want to stay on the island.
Also, they don't have new identities...they are celebrities, which can be seen when Hurley asks Jack if he's followed everywhere(or something along those lines) and Jack just says he has to sign autographs sometimes. Somehow Kate avoids capture yet again....surely the US authorities would notice that she's back in the country and arrest her, so who knows about that.
I believe as well that Christian was the guy in the rocking chair in Jacob's cabin, and that Locke couldn't have been inside because the eye shown was the same one from last season's episode "The Man Behind the Curtain".
Anyways, great start to what looks to be an amazing season.

Hey, did anyone catch what was on the wall durring Hurley's interogartion? before the water came in... there is something on the wall... what is it.

ALSO, when Charley is swiming to the glass right before it breaks, his movement through the water looks alot like the movement of the smoke and blows up trees and stuff... the spirit of the island so to speak... whatcha think?

To the person who asked why are they calling Hurley...Hugo. That is his real name. I love Hurley..he is adorable. When he realised that Charlie was gone (I won't say dead because that remains to be seen!) and had to tell Claire I started crying. I have thought for a long time that Lost is entirely Hurley's imagination...remember he was in a mental institution before. As to Hurley not admitting that he knew Ana Lucia...that is just common sense. Think about it...you have just comitted a myriad of felonies and a detective is riding your ass...and then he asks you about someone you know is dead (and why they are dead) would you admit it?
Another thought...I always wonder why everyone trusts Desmond so completely and quickly? Isn't he the genius who blew up the hatch?
I am very sad that Charlie is gone..I still think Walt will be an important plot twist...(and what has happened to Walt's dog?) and I love the whole Rose and Bernard thing. They are so sweet. Sayhid(?) is hot, hot, hot! I would love to be stranded on an island with him!

It seems pretty obvious to me that the Oceanic 6 knowingly left other people behind on the island and lied about being the only survivors - hence why Hurley lies about ever having met Anna Lucia, why the Oceanic atty asks him if 'they are still alive,' why Jack asks if Hurley 'has ever told anyone,' and why Charlie tells Hurley that 'they need him.'
I think that they left people behind on the island, and that they will try to go back later to help them - like Jack told Kate on the phone at the end of season 3

Whoa, I am still reeling! Does anyone else think it significant that Hurley saw Jacob? Don't the Others revere Locke because he has such special powers? It seems that all the Losties have special powers!

Remember what Kate said to Jack? "This isn't going to stop." I imagine that means all of the Oceanic Six are being called back by the "eyeland". My question is whether the person in the coffin is one of the six, or whether Michael never makes it back to the island but dies trying after the six return home.

Hammer sorry to hear about what happened. I think abc.com puts the episodes up within 48 hours.

Time to do some research!

whoa, losties have superpowers? cool idea. never thought about that but yeah, the only other person before locke who could see jacob was ben, and now hurley can see him. only suposedly special people can see him!

desmond blew up th hatch because locke wasn't gonna let him press the button (4,8,15,16,23,42,execute).

walt could be the person in the coffin. he's a person everybody remembers even tho the kid left in season 1, was seen for a couple minutes in season 2, and barely a minute in season 3. he could have been doing whatever to make nobody else want to come to his funeral, or he could've been trying to convince them all to come back to the island and he knew how to get to it and so once he died jack thought his chance was gone.

i didn't think the eye was locke's either. i thought at first it was jacob's. if it's mikhail i'm gonna get sick of him never dying. it could be hurley's like us looking back at him.

yeah, i noticed hurley's drawing of the igloo. reminded me of s2 finale. didn't catch the chalkboard thing tho, will be payin closer attention when i re-watch!
um sawyer! he sided with locke over kate? isnt he like head over heels for her? is that a future conflict arising between the love birds and the rest of the losties?
i think he did it just to make jack mad. besides she's just been using him to make jack jealous.

Why is everyone calling Hurleys visitor an attorney for Oceanic. He obviously isn't. Hurley asks to see a business card, which Matthew conveniatly forgot at home. Then he asks if the others are alive. If he actually worked with Oceanic, he wouldn't ask this, as it is Oceanic who is covering up the whole mess.

I think thats ben in the coffin, because no one showed up to his funeral and remember he had no family, he killed everyone on the island including his dad. did hugo really win the lottery or is he just some escapee from a mental institute, and crash landed on the island. I think desmond is really an other and was recruited a long time ago. sahid needs to step his role up and take command of this operation. that guy that visits hurley is actually, luitenent daniels from The Wire...isnt that odd, maybe there is a connection with the drug trade in baltimore and the island....

We don't know that he isn't an attorney for Oceanic. He may be. I think it unlikely that if he is an attorney for Oceanic that he is a run of the mill airline attorney who makes sure the company doesn't get sued in the event of the crash. I think there must be some connection between Oceanic the company, the Widmore Corp, and the Dharma Initiative. I wouldn't be surprised if Oceanic was a front company to a certain degree.

The "attorney" lets just call him that for the sake of argument, makes reference to getting Hurley "an upgrade" offering him a private room in a better facility among other things. Taking this line of thought with Hurley's outburst to the arresting officers "I'm one of the Oceanic 6!" I wonder if when the 6 (whoever they are) returned from the island, if an elaborate story was concocted by Oceanic and its partners that painted the 6 as some kind of miraculous survivors. Clearly they have some kind of information that Oceanic doesn't want getting out to the public. Besides an "upgrade", what else did Oceanic & its partners give to the survivors? Fame, fortune, unlimited flights? new identities?

Curious...

Why is everyone calling Hurleys visitor an attorney for Oceanic. He obviously isn’t. Hurley asks to see a business card, which Matthew conveniatly forgot at home. Then he asks if the others are alive. If he actually worked with Oceanic, he wouldn’t ask this, as it is Oceanic who is covering up the whole mess.

We don’t know that he isn’t an attorney for Oceanic. He may be. I think it unlikely that if he is an attorney for Oceanic that he is a run of the mill airline attorney who makes sure the company doesn’t get sued in the event of the crash. I think there must be some connection between Oceanic the company, the Widmore Corp, and the Dharma Initiative. I wouldn’t be surprised if Oceanic was a front company to a certain degree.

The “attorney” lets just call him that for the sake of argument, makes reference to getting Hurley “an upgrade” offering him a private room in a better facility among other things. Taking this line of thought with Hurley’s outburst to the arresting officers “I’m one of the Oceanic 6!” I wonder if when the 6 (whoever they are) returned from the island, if an elaborate story was concocted by Oceanic and its partners that painted the 6 as some kind of miraculous survivors. Clearly they have some kind of information that Oceanic doesn’t want getting out to the public. Besides an “upgrade”, what else did Oceanic & its partners give to the survivors? Fame, fortune, unlimited flights? new identities?

Curious…

First off, great episode. The opening scene wasn't as great as the previous seasons opening scenes, but what can ya do.

The cabin Hurley saw contained Jacob (the same eye we saw at the end of s3) and Christian Shepherd in the rocking chair. We know this for sure because, not only was it plainly him, but he had the white sneakers on like he had in Jack's visions AND in the "missing pieces" episode we saw (which conveniently brought our attention back to him).

Also, while the guy who met Hurley CLAIMED to be an attorney from Oceanic, he clearly was not. I think, as others have posted, that he's got something to do with the Dharma Initiative and/or the people who are looking for the island but are "not penny's boat". It appears that the "oceanic 6", in order to protect their friends who probably chose to stay on the island (like Locke, Ben, probably Rose since it cured her cancer, and Bernard.. I think Walt would want to stay, and also Michael because of that), they've kept it a secret that there were any additional survivors. What I'm curious about is why Hurley is now sorry that he went with Locke instead of staying with Jack.. I'm very excited to find out what happens next on the island!

Also, my guess as to who is in the coffin... We have to think of who has been an enemy and would want to get off the island. Michael comes to mind, but I think Walt would want to stay and I don't think Michael would leave without Walt (unless something happens to Walt). Ben wouldn't leave and Locke wouldn't leave. It's possible it's Juliet, but she'd probably go back to Miami. I don't know, I think it's someone we haven't seen yet. Maybe one of the rescuers.

Great episode though, I'm so glad Lost is back!

In going along with everyone on the island being "special"... I think each of them has something, for instance, Michail is nearly invincible, Richard doesn't age, Walt can appear to people among other things, Ben has seen his mother (who is dead)... I think that Jacob is also somehow dead, which is why he's trapped within the circle and why Ben can see him. I think it's interesting that Hurley also saw Jacob AND Christian and now Charlie too (also, who knows, maybe Dave wasn't imagined, but someone who has died).

I was wondering that myself, unless he was only referring to the tape he'd gotten that he gave to Sawyer. It seems weird that he wouldn't have been filled in on that though, unless he's really in the dark and no one even told him about blowing up some others and all that stuff. That's possible, I mean, Locke has been a busy guy, what with trying to sabotage radio contact and throwing knives at people... oh yeah, and getting fake shot by Jack. What's up with that?! Needless to say, I think things are gonna be pretty awkward between them from now on... =)

It seems the coffin topic is once again up for debate, but if i remember correctly doesnt jack admit to thinking it was kate? She has to fake her death to escape conviction charges...If thats not the case then it probably as simple as a memorial for all the people that died on the island. Whatever happens i feel that people should be aware that the way in which the lost writters contribute their storylines their will most definetly be many unanswered questions at the end of the series. I think the whole series will end with a cliffhanger of sorts. Be forewarned dissapointment eminent..some might even say it needed.

As to who is in the coffin: Read the article Jack has about it. It says that it's a MAN (so not Juliet or Sarah(who by the way it can't be because we see her AFTER he reads the article)) who is from New York (so it can't be Ben since he is from Portland) and has a teenage son. My guess is that it's Michael or a character we haven't met yet.

No. Remember, Locke is the one who told the losties that she isn't who she said she was. He stole the tape recorder from Ben that had Juliet saying Sun was pregnant and she would find out if the other women were as well. Locke never knew that Juliet is supposedly on the losties side now because he wasn't at their camp.

My theory is that Desmond is working for the boaties. Probably be proven wrong quickly, but he may have made contact when he was out sailing trying to escape. He blows the hatch, hoping it will help the boaties find the island. Then, he helps turn off the jamming equipment, also to help the boaties. He lets the losties know about Charlie's message because he doesn't want to them to get hurt, but he could care less about the island. All as part of a deal to get Des back to Penny.

Also, I see a lot of people making comments regarding Michael and Walt, I thought they left for rescue during last year's show? Did they come back and I missed it somehow?
They did leave, but that doesn't mean they were able to leave for good...
For all we know Michael and Walt were picked up by the freighter and are being held captive.

i was thrown off when ben was talking to danielle rousseau as if he really knew her. and we find out that alex is not ben's daughter. i think that rousseau and ben have been in cahoots for years and SHE is that "traitor". it really kind of fits, as she was the character that acted the strangest throught out the whole series thus far (IMO).
That would be awesome! My two favorite shows, tied together. Although I don't think I could deal with the previews.... "Next week, a very special episode of The Wire".

Good luck tracking down Marlo, Omar!
It seems that those who appear as visions to warn the survivors both on the island and off, i.e, Charlie and Echo's brother, are dead. Bringing up the question, "Instead of having super powers, is Walt dead?" He does appear to Locke in the season 3 finale to stop him from killing himself.
