Naveen Andrews in Grindhouse

Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid on Lost is currently starring in Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s new double-feature “Grindhouse”. In an interview with wbaltv.com, Naveen talks about the film and reveals that director Quentin Tarantino is a big Lost fan:

“I know that Robert was aware of ‘Lost,’ but Quentin was and is a big fan of the show. He said to me at the read-through of the script that my character and Josh Holloway’s character, Sawyer, were his favorites on the show. That was incredibly flattering. It kind of surprised me. You don’t think you’re a part of popular culture when you’re an individual that’s involved with it.”

Naveen also says that initially he didn’t get the grindhouse phenomenon:

“Growing up in England, fortunately — or unfortunately — we didn’t have the grindhouse phenomenon. The nearest thing to it would have been the Hammer House of Horror films,” Andrews recalled. “I’m 38, so I grew up seeing them on TV when I was about 9 or 10 years old. It would consist of cheap and cheerful, repressed English movies where Peter Cushing would run around, trying to kill a giant moth.”
