The ending was so... not that interesting. No matter who was in the casket.

The fact that they were willing to put three different people in the casket shows it didn't matter who was in there because the character is going to continue to be on the show. Although, I think that if it were Desmond they would be forced to answer more questions, like how did he know about the people on the island? If he knew, it meant he went back. How was he able to go back alone?? How does he know where it is?? So, if it were Sawyer or Locke there would be a lot less explaining.

Also, one of the last things Locke and Jack talked about was the idea of miracles. Jack said he didn't believe in miracles, but John responded, wait until you see what I'm going to do (or something like that).

Your initial thought, of course, is he's going to move the island. But Ben moved the island, so what is Locke going to show Jack? His resurrection? It's a miracle, isn't it?

I am thinking that at this point, Locke believes that HE will somehow move the island (like maybe Ben will tell him how?) because Jacob told him to do it. Maybe even still, he thinks he did it.

I don't get it, is Jack's dad still alive? He keeps appearing in random places. For example, in the finale, he said, "You can go now Michael." It could be that whole time travel thing, but I'm not sure.
Just curious who likes Locke's character????
I like Locke's character. I watch the show because of all the mystery. When I think about whether someone likes Locke, I think also about Jack's character which is the total opposite. I do not like Jack's character too much. I like the whole idea of this being fate and everyone was brought there for a reason. Locke's flashbacks represent that the best. He really was MEANT to be there. I like how he lets the island guide him. I think it's what makes the show so unique. JMO:)

Locke is a good character in my opininon. For those who don't like his character some of the scenes with Ben would be lost (sorry for the pun). He adds more mystery to the show and you have to admit, the show with the scene of young Locke and Jeremy Benthem was a cool, trippy one.
On another tangent. Most of my friends do not 'get into' LOST. Sheesh, they are caught up in all the reality based stuff thats out there. I feel like I'm the only one in my area that's hooked.

Locke & Bentham, one and the same?
Anything's possible; this show is a game.
Think about the video, the vault, cloned rabbits...
Don't you think Locke would try to have a go at it?

the island used michael and then let him die when it didn't need him anymore, right?

maybe jack's dad isn't the real one, only some messenger of the island, like when he came to visit jack. another messenger is charlie who is visiting Hugo.

and maybe claire is dead also, since these messengers are usually replicas of dead people and claire was sitting with christian in jacob's cabin...
Just curious who likes Locke's character????
Locke has been my favorite character on the show ever since I watched the 4th episode of the show. Any of the regular readers here who've read my posts have seen me argue for Locke's goodness time and time again. I think he's a wonderful character who's been through more hell than any soul should ever have to bear, and the more recent flashbacks we've seen only reinforce my view.

I've never considered Jack much of a hero, and when it comes down to it, I have a lot more respect for both Locke and Sawyer. Time has already proven me right regarding Jack and Sawyer. Jack has, as I suspected, let his desperation to leave the Island drive him into making some terrible decisions and Sawyer has grown into the hero I very much suspected him to be.

Locke on the other hand, strikes me as one of the kindest characters on the show. This became clear to me the day he made a dog whistle in order to find Vincent, and then after finding Vincent, he did not return him to Walt himself, but rather allowed Michael to do so, letting Michael grow in his son's view rather than take the credit himself. He also helped Claire build a craddle for Aaron when she was feeling down over Charlies' failings. The main gripe people have with Locke is that he seemed to be sabotaging the Losties means of leaving the Island; the radio he sabotaged, the submarine he supposedly blew up, the communications station that he destroyed, etc. In all those cases, I have trusted his judgement. Otherwise, the main concern has been that he caused Boone's death - I never considered this true. Boone was with Locke on a quest, and he died. Locke did not force him to climb up to that plane, nor could he anticipate that it would lead to Boone's death. People simply blamed Locke for it because of his explanation of Boone's death as a 'sacrifice that the Island required' - but not liking his explanation does not mean he wanted nor intended Boone's death.

Considering what Locke has been through, and the multiple times he's been betrayed by people he trusted - it's incredible to me that he remains a kind person. The ONE thing I hold against him is that he pulled a gun on Hurley when he needed him to find Jacob's Cabin. It was simply unnecessary. Yet, I find it absolutely ridiculous to believe that he would've pulled a trigger on a fellow Lostie. He no more intended to shoot Hurely than he intended to shoot Jack when he pulled a gun on him. This is why when Jack pulled a gun on Locke, Locke simply didn't believe - I repeat - couldn't believe - that Jack might actually pull the trigger. He said something like "You're not going to shoot me Jack, anymore than I was going to shoot you." - and then of course, another betrayel - he saw Jack pull the trigger...

In any case, yes - I like Locke.

A lot.

Sadly, seeing him in the coffin means - well, I expect that we'll probably see the circumstances of his death sometime around the end of the next season - so at least I guess we'll see a lot of Locke DURING the season, and until he's killed. Sadly, this ALSO means that we'll probably not see that much of him during Season 6 - assuming that he gets resurrected sometime at the end or latter half of that season...

Anyway, that's my guess - based mainly on the notion that they BETTER give us a LOT more of Locke :)

Actually, I think they shot the 3 different to maintain an element of surprise since spoilers were floating all over the place for this season finale. They were just trying to keep people guessing. Including the crew :)

the article in the paper said that jeremy bentham was survived by a teenage son. jeremy bentham is a false identity that locke used so that he could contact everyone who left the island. its likely that the identity of jeremy bentham is very well constructed so that in the even he died was killed no one that has not been on the island would ever realize who he was so that the "Lie"(of the oceanic 6) wouldn't be comprimised. the only completely unknown factor is why did he die

It's weird that they decided to off Locke. IMO, he's the one keeping the mysteries of the island alive. I just think that he never gets an answer and is always content anyways.

To answer the who likes Locke. Well I do, without him this show would be another Baywatch.

Btw I am glad that Boone and Shannon both left the show, they were not that interesting.

At this point I feel the writers have to give us something real good. The ending of season 4 was goal No.1 = Leave the island. The other goal would be to explain the mysteries of the island. Now that we know that the smoke monster is machine of some sort and can be controlled by the Ben, that will not be used so much now. It was fun at first to add some danger to the island but now that they have misused it to a point that it is meaningless, it's a loss.

It’s weird that they decided to off Locke. IMO, he’s the one keeping the mysteries of the island alive. I just think that he never gets an answer and is always content anyways.

To answer the who likes Locke. Well I do, without him this show would be another Baywatch.
