One of the worlds largest game studios, Ubisoft, the company behind titles like Splinter Cell and Far Cry today announced a long-term worldwide licensing agreement with Touchstone Television to develop and publish a video game based on Lost.

According to comingsoon.net, ABC are pretty happy about the deal:

Bruce Gersh, senior vice president of ABC Entertainment said:
“This deal is another example of how truly powerful the ‘Lost’ brand is. We are excited to work together with Ubisoft to create a gaming experience that will allow fans to further immerse themselves into the mysteries and intrigues of the series.”

Lost executive producer Bryan Burk said:
“Many of us on ‘Lost’ have been hardcore gamers for years and the chance to work with Ubisoft, a company behind some of our favorite titles, has excited us to no end. With the ability to tell new interactive stories within the ‘Lost’ universe, we’re giddy to be developing a game that, once completed, will be as engaging and fun to play as it is to create.”

It will be interesting to see what kind of game they develop. I think it was JJ or Damon who a while back compared Lost to an adventure game where you explore the environment and find objects that when combined, or used in new ways help you solve the mystery. I could also see the Lost game becoming something similar to the jungle-shooter Far Cry. The new Cryengine could certainly pull off the detailed jungle environments required by a Lost game. Either way, if someone should do a Lost game, I’m glad it’s Ubisoft.

  1. I’ve been playing through Far Cry on my PC for some time now, and the lush jungle and the various mercenary camps and bunkers definetly reminded me of the Lost island. Now, hearing about the Lost game by Ubi Soft, this excites me greatly. I am doing my best to keep from wetting myself. ^_^
