I’m rather certain in a recent podcast darlton mentioned the season finale will be 2 hours like other season finales, although whether it would be broadcast in a 2 hour slot or two 1 hour slots was still being discussed because of a clash with the 2 hour finale of grays anatomy. They also said that this finale will be basically 2 episodes joined up just like every other 2 hour episode has been produced with the exception of the pilot.

As I remember it, D&C said that we would have five episodes including the season finale that would be shown in two parts (two episodes) in order to allow Grey’s Anatomy to have their two hour season finale.

This fits with the original plan to air five episodes beginning April 24, with the last episode on May 22nd.

I don’t think the sixth hour was originally planned, though I do suspect that it will be an additional HOUR of the season finale rather than a stand alone episode.

Okay, I went back and listened to the podcast where D&C discussed the season finale. My interpretation of what they said may well be wrong. I think I took IT together with the episode layout (4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, and 5/22) and possibly made assumptions. I will transcribe their words - so each of you can come to your own conclusion until we hear “the real news” from the horses’ mouths:

Yes, they said in LOST magazine that we were losing some of the back stories of the tots (due to shortening the season), so maybe they will put some of that back in. I really hope so. I would be very interested in their stories.

According to tvguide . com, a 14th hour of Season 4 has been confirmed by ABC. I quote Michael Ausiello (LONG LIVE Michael Ausiello):

“I can now confirm what I first teased earlier this week: Team Darlton has sealed a deal with ABC to bring us an extra hour of Lost this season.

With a 14th hour of Lost now a done deal, the show’s finale will swell to three hours. So we now get the sixth hour discussed above. Now the question is… we have been promised 48 episodes for seasons four through six. Does this “three hour finale” count as three episodes or just one very long one? I know I am being greedy, but if it counts as one very long one, then we are only getting twelve EPISODES (spanning fourteen hours). Can we look forward to still getting “back” the two missing episodes? I kind of doubt it, but one can hope!

That takes Jacks mind off Juliet and onto Clair and Locke. I’m getting a bad feeling about Locke and he’s my favorite character. Clair might be the “C” Word.

Very plausible Juliet is off the Island & I would say Ben still has a bit of control over her. He said she could leave the island and she has. He didn’t agree to any thing else.

I remember the beginning of season 3 and how Ben looked like he felt “cheated on” when he was not invited to the book club. Maybe she, at one point, was Ben’s, who knows? Maybe, after 3 years, she had enough of the island and seduced Ben. I wouldn’t put anything past her. We need another Ben FB.
She is not to be trusted, IMO. She had an affair with a MARRIED man, considered a sacred covenant in some religions. She is about as trusting as Michael ( or is ).

From the pages of Lost Magazine comes this reference from Damon Lindelof saying that two characters will be sharing one spectacular kiss at the end of Season 4.

“Romance is always blooming on and off the island. And just for you, I hereby promise you one of the most spectacular kisses you’ve ever seen on the show in this year’s finale.”

Naturally, everyone’s right there with their guesses.

So..HENCE..the speculation. I am now firmly voting for the Ben and Juliet scenario..though the thought of Ben…mmmm..not pretty.

There is a moment in one of the 2-minute mobisodes where it seems as if Michael and Jin are about to kiss, and there were moments of slight flirtation in a couple regular episodes, too, not counting the moment where Michael first approached Sun on the beach about something and Jin ordered her to cover up more by buttoning her shirt up completely.

Though those characters seem predictable, imo, in order for the kiss to come off as spectacular, I would think we the viewers have to have a little something invested in the participants, either because we know something about the future or the moment had been building up. Unless the writers mean spectacularly shocking.

For me, there are 2 main reasons behind a “spectacular kiss”. The 2 people (sorry Vincent) haven’t seen each other for a while, or won’t see each other maybe ever again. Does anyone else have thoughts on the term “spectacular kiss”? Is spectacular also shocking?
For me, Kate and anyone wouldn’t be that spectacular. Been there, seen that. ( Unless it is Ben ).

For me, there are 2 main reasons behind a “spectacular kiss”. The 2 people (sorry Vincent) haven’t seen each other for a while, or won’t see each other maybe ever again. Does anyone else have thoughts on the term “spectacular kiss”? Is spectacular also shocking?
For me, Kate and anyone wouldn’t be that spectacular. Been there, seen that. ( Unless it is Ben ).

I believe the “spectacular” going to be what type of kiss, where it’s at and when it’s happening.

Last4ever- You mentions maybe Ben. I thought that yesterday and didn’t put it up because it sounded a little far fetched at the time. But thing about it, it still sounds far fetch but it got brought up. At the end of season three at the air port Kate said she has to get back that he is waiting for her. When we found out that she had Aaron I assumed she was talking about him. But i watched it again last night and she seemed more scared than concern about getting back to him who is waiting on her. And would a baby be waiting on anyone?

Where i was going with that is that Ben is off the Island and he could be waiting for her.

At the end of season three at the air port Kate said she has to get back that he is waiting for her. When we found out that she had Aaron I assumed she was talking about him. But i watched it again last night and she seemed more scared than concern about getting back to him who is waiting on her. And would a baby be waiting on anyone?

Where i was going with that is that Ben is off the Island and he could be waiting for her.

Oh, that completely turns my stomach, but still DOES make sense. It fits with why she says “he” like “he who must not be named.” When I saw that episode, I really thought it was odd that she said “he” with any emphasis. We, the audience, would have wondered who HE was without her emphasizing that. But once again, euwch! I suppose Ben could be the one waiting for Kate without them being involved romantically.

And to that spectacular kiss, I know you are all sick of me and my speculation that Charlie could have escaped the Looking Glass Hatch. How fabulous would it be if he found his way to Claire? That WOULD BE pretty spectacular!

My vote is for SHOCKING!!!! I think it’s going to be between 2 people that haven’t even been discussed yet. Not people like Ben/Juliet or Jack/Kate/Sawyer. IMO
I also think that it’s going to take place off the island. Maybe Jack/Sara, Sayid/Nadia, Sara/Christian(FB), Alpert/?, Widmore/?, Libby/Desmond, Libby/?
