Lost News Update - July 3, 2007

-According to the LA Times, Lost is officially one of the top ten finalists for the Best Drama Emmy, as submitted on the basis of “Through the Looking Glass”
-Although the Emmy nominations will not be officially announced until July 19th, the Teen Choice Awards nominations have been released, and Lost basically cleaned house:
-Top Drama Series
-Dramatic Actor (Matthew Fox)
-Dramatic Actress (Evangeline Lilly)
-Choice TV Sidekick (Jorge Garcia)
-Choice Villain (Michael Emerson)

-Kristin from E! Online is reporting that there will be at least one new character cast for Season 4 and that no official word has been released yet about Harold Perrineau coming back.

No offense to Will for linking to Kristin’s “scoop”, but she always rubs me the wrong way. For her to portray this info as inside information is a bit disingenuous. I don’t think it’s news to anyone that there will be a new character on the show - D&C have said that Jacob will become more prevalent in season 4, and in one of their podcasts they had said Jacob hadn’t been cast yet. Personally I’d expect to have many new characters on the show, especially if there will be a rescue and/or “flash-forwards” showing what happens after they’re rescued.

I just finished watching Season Two with my daughter, who came late to “Lost” (she didn’t start watching until mid Season Three, with only a few Season One episodes under her belt).
Re-watching the departure of Michael and Walt, I was struck with the thought: you would think their story would have to be re-visited in the future. Did they indeed get rescued, and did Michael indeed keep his mouth shut because of the murders he committed on the island? Some closure is really needed on this.
