Lost Missing Pieces #6: “Room 23″

In the sixth installment, we get a glimpse of a conversation between Juliet and Ben, regarding Walt, who is obviously being held in Room 23. The dialogue here is fascinating, because you can definitely get a sense that the majority of the Others are frightened by Walt’s unique abilities, as Ben gives reference to Jacob as well:

JULIET: This is your responsibility. You were the one who wanted him here.

BEN: Jacob wanted him here. He’s important. He’s special.

JULIET: He’s dangerous.

BEN: He’s just a kid Juliet. He’s a child.

JULIET: He’s just a child? Come see.

We then get to see a pile of dead birds, which Walt presumably caused via his abilities. The sets up for Season 4 nicely, as we got a glimpse of Walt during the finale, but obviously will see much more of him during the story arch this season. I think it will be interesting to see where he aligns himself within the framework of the show (the obvious answer is with Locke, but we’ll see). If you have yet to see this mobisode, you can find it here.

  1. Interesting. He killed a bird in flashback when he was upset. That bird that called out Hurley’s name better watch his step.

His step dad was afraid of him…maybe he was supposed to be in Heroes. :)

He could be Micahs best friend.

  3. Note that they never once mentioned Walt’s name. That leaves open the possibility that they were really talking about Karl, who we know for a fact was held prisoner in Room 23 (ala “A Clockwork Orange”).

I think it’s pretty clear they were talking about Walt - they mention that his father is looking for him, and there’s the connection of the dead birds to Walt’s previous killing of a bird. Also, during various episodes of season 3, neither Tom nor Juliet seemed “afraid” of Karl, whereas Juliet says they are afraid of “the child” in this mobisode.

Toeknee - I agree with you 100%; I’m just suspicious that they didn’t mention Walt’s name. In fact, it’s almost painfully obvious that they’re talking about Walt, so why not mention his name? Could be a red herring…
