I agree, that would be too tacky if there was a person hallucinating in a another person's hallucination.

I think they used that episode to let us know that it wasn't the main theory.

That's the best Stephen King can do?
It's been done before! What he proposed is basically the entire plot of "The Usual Suspects."

I like King's idea that everything we see is from the perspective of the eye shown in the first shot. I'm more inclined to believe that it would be the perspective of the character's eye opening each individual episode though. That would be a neat idea, but I think the opening shot of an eye is just an effect to tell us that the flashback in this episode (and in some ways the events on the island) will revolve around this character.

St. Elsewhere had an ending episode? I thought it just went off the air after the hospital was closed. Last episode I remember seeing was Dr. Auschlander(sp?) having an hallucination due to his chemo-therapy that he was a super hero character like Superman.

Darn! I would have liked to see it! I'll have to get it on DVD then.

If it was all in the mind of an autistic kid, really very creative imagination considering all the plot twists and events!!

ps- I agree that King's idea is weak at best.

In some ways, I think, King's idea will be proven right. Most likely by way of the back story of the Apollo Candy Co. Whatever that chemical was that the candy dude was developing has something to do with what's going on. Maybe the hanso foundation used that chemical after they bought Apollo.
