It is not entirely clear that Claire was receiving injections. The syringe was metal - - could be they were taking amnionic fluid from her and doing tests. How else could they know the baby was a boy? (Remember, the baby's room was blue). Claire did not even know herself until he was born. She was asked in the pilot episode if she knew the baby's sex and said no, even though she later mentioned she "felt" he could be a boy.

Good observation about the room being blue, I didn't think about it at the time, but you do seem to be on to something Lesley.

I think that the injections are just emphasized to get the survivors scared, I dont' think that they are anything. They show the injections being taken and talk about the 'sickness' just to get them scared and paranoid. And has it already been ruled out that there's a possibility that Danielle is in with Dharma? That's why her crew got sick. I suppose she could have immagined it and shot them out of her insaneness, she seems to be a nice person and she seems genuinly in pain about her daughter. I argue wiht myself far too much.
