Eggtown

I am not sure that “The Economist” can be topped (I am still haunted by Sayid saying “The day I trust this man is the day I sell my soul”), but as the show goes on tonight’s episode centers around Kate – so hopefully we will get more information about what her Oceanic 6 life looks like (perhaps why she is not in jail and who the “he” is she was referring to in the Season 3 Finale).
Spoiler Warning
ABC’s Official Show Description
Kate’s need to get information out of the hostage may jeopardize her standing with Locke – as well as with Sawyer.

Here a few Eggtown sneak peeks also: Sneak Peek 1 | Sneak Peek 2
See you all in the comments tonight. Have Fun.

OK, with close to 600 posts on the last episode and many complaints about repitation I have a suggestion. In order to encourage newbies (I am one) yet train all of us to follow the rules I suggest this.
If someone posts a theory/guess/supposition that has been presented and either agreed on or, more likely, debunked, instead of rehashing it can we send a reply that says:
“Please read all the previous posts before posting yourself. That comment was already addressed.” You can add the comment number where it was addressed if you want.
When we re-answer the question we are training ourselves to not do the reading first. I don’t think I can stand to hear, “I think Michael’s in the coffin.” and then “It can’t be him because the funeral director asked ‘friend or family.’” one more time.
I think everyone would agree that if there is new information or logic to support the “Michael’s in the coffin” theory than it’s not a repeat.
I was one of the first to say it couldn’t be him because of the friend or family question. I now retract my argument after further thought. A funeral director asking “Friend or family?” is like a waitress asking “Cream and sugar?” when you order coffee. Also, Michael could have been married to Jacks sister (not Claire, a hypothitical sister) making them family. I’m not sugestiong he is in the coffin. Just removing that argument against it.

great episode. a few things:
omg! so kate chose to stay. sawyer and kate know she’s pregnant. kate is famous off the island cuz she’s going to court and is one of the 06. her mother is still alive and is the DA’s star witness, and kate’s SON (so i guess that’s who she had to get back to.) is who her lawyer thinks should be there witness. and Jack witnesses for her! kate appears to be going a little nutty off island already. how did she get out of jail if she doesn’t plead guilty??????
why isn’t anybody concerned about why they didn’t get to go on the copter or who the “rescuers” are…..the copter hasn’t landed yet? is that because of the time thing???? we obviously know sayid gets off. so it doesn’t crash and kill em all.
miles is annoying! and the guy who plays him is a bad actor. what did he tell ben? my tv’s sound went out during that scene! dang! and if kate knows they know everything WHY DOES SHE GO BACK!?!?!??!?!?!
ben was right, it is like when they were in the hatch. locke asks questions that ben never answers. locke is bringing him breakfast, ben is manipulating him, and locke is breaking dishes again!
so the story is only 8 survived the crash and 2 people died on the island!!!! they crashed in the water and kate saved them?!?!?!OMG!!!!!! this is so interesting!
truly meaningless things i just wanted to say:
sawyer’s so cute when he reads!!!!
backgammon again, eh?
ah, sawyer back to the same ol’ cons, and locke’s still believing every damn word!

Aaron. Claires Baby. That was a tad predictable from when Claire asks her to pick him up, I just got that feeling that she was going to end up with him.

WHAT was that magic trick mess Dan & Charlotte were doing?? It seems like they had been practicing it for a while so I don’t think this team was just slapdash thrown together.
And WHY would Jack be weirded out by seeing the baby if it’s Aaron??
I need to take a moment to decompress and think some more. I also wish LOST was on 24/7… Is this how drug addicts feel waiting for the next score?

did kate take aaron because claire couldn’t get off, or does claire die? how much longer do they stay on the island or how long does kate’s trial last so that aaron is about 3-4 years old? or is it the time thing? is the time thing why the plane hasn’t landed yet after a day? so many questions!?!?!
Comment 15, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
I’m just thrilled to have an episode that didn’t make me ask 42 more questions than the week before!
Well not yet, anyway. I am sure that I’ll have more questions as I read everyone’s theories. I guess I was wrong on every count in my theories based on last week’s episode. Gotta love the brilliance of the writers and creators!

OMG - great ending! He called her mom too - thought it was sawyers baby when I first saw the blonde hair but then she said “Aaron” and I was like “shut the f up!”
I’m thinking that maybe Claire dies on the island next episode? Because obviously Jack is in on baby thing too.

I was thinking “Eggtown” was going to about all of the fertility issues.

MAybe Claire AND the baby die or the baby dies, and Kate names the baby after Aaron to honor him?
That is probably too deep. It has to be Aaron or they would not have played the music they did. Gosh I was so sure it was going to be Sawyer’s baby, especially after the way Jack was acting. I guess seeing the baby would remind him of something. That is Jack’s nephew dangit! He should want to see his nephew!!!!
Comment 20, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
I hate to complain about my favorite show, but that was lamest twist in a while. I guessed that it was Aaron the second she said she had a son. Not a bad storyline idea necessarily, but still, pretty obvious after she was bonding with Aaron on the island. I wonder if Jack knows that he’s Aaron’s uncle…
Otherwise, Locke with the grenade was really frickin’ cool.

Aaarh! This is what I get for listening to that podcast - I’m a bit disappointed in the episode. In the podcast D&C said this episode had a killer ending. I was expecting something to top last week’s, which is nearly impossible. But like others have said, “Aaron” was predictable. I think going back to the season 3 finale some people speculated that the “him” Kate referred to was possibly Aaron.
I do liked how the story moved along a little. The Ben-Miles exchange was intriguing - I’m guessing Miles is working for
Widmore (Penny’s Dad).
The circumstances by which Kate avoided jail time seemed fishy - I find it hard to believe Kate’s mother was the only witness for the prosecution. What about all the other people she encountered as a fugitive?
And early on didn’t she say something about not wanting her son to testify during the trial? How could a 3 year old testify? Or was the lawyer thinking that by showing the jury that the kid loves his mommy they’ll find her not guilty?
Sorry, don’t mean to complain - those were just a couple things that bothered me. I do consider this the weakest of these first 4 episodes, but still very good.
Can’t wait to see the explanation of what’s taking the copter so long to reach the freighter. And why Minkowski won’t answer the phone.
“You just Scooby-Doo’d me” GREAT line!!
Comment 22, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Kate jumped quick at the plea agreement that would give her 10 yrs probation and keep her in the state, even after her lawyer was going to negotiate….could be a reason for her to say she “can’t” go back to the island/can’t leave the state.

Anyone catch the Xanadu reference: aka Hurley’s video pick.
In mythos… Xanadu is a mysterious city concealed deep within the Himalayan Mountains. It lies in a jeweled valley of unparalleled splendor. Shrouded in myth and believed only to be fiction, the truth about this beautiful place has been veiled from the eyes of the known world for thousands of years.
Only recently has the truth of the fabled city been discovered. Monastery journals, over two hundred years old tell the story of a grand expedition into the Himalayas. The participants of this journey stumble across the sacred valley of Xanadu and record the events in great detail. It is from the story contained within these journals that began the search for further evidence of Xanadu’s existence.
During the search, Xanadu’s pervasiveness throughout history becomes frighteningly apparent.
Within the walls of Xanadu lies a garden of exquisite beauty, that holds beautiful works of art, on display for all its citizens to enjoy.
Excavation suggests the origin of Xanadu is linked to the mysterious destruction of an ancient Sumerian city.
A series of ancient scrolls depicts the legend of a Demon Goddess.
A Codex (book) is retrieved and transcribes writings found on an Obelisk.
An ancient manuscript sheds …. it goes on.

Comment 28, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
so for Kate,no jail time is a little bit of a break compared to the 20 years + they could have given her. Of course, she can’t leave the state for 10 years. Of course you noticed that she called her “son” Aaron at the end. Isn’t that Claire’s son?
And at her trial Jack said there were 8 survivors of the crash and that Kate had rescued them all. That is definitely not true. And Miles wants 3.2 mil from Ben and seems to know that he has that kind of money. So who is Ben. Tonight basically gave us more mystery than answers. I guess the Oceanic six are: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Aaron and the 6th one to be revealed. Interesting. I may wait until next weeks episode to come up with more theories.
And, someone please tell me why Aaron is Jack’s nephew - did I miss something in an earlier season?
I liked the Xanadu connection - hadn’t really paid attention to that one until DocH pointed it out.
There is definitely still a whole lot between the lines. I think I’ll wait until next week to come up with new theories.
So, American Idol anyone………….wait, differnt site :)

I agree with the gripe by ToeKnee and Taylor. But I will say that I am glad that they closed down that soap opera “PLOT LINE” so quickly… now we can get on to the good stuff.
Number question… Kates’ mom said she has been told she has 6 months to live for the last four years. (looks like smokers lung disease). She’d have to have been diagnosed before Kate fled from Iowa. Aaron looks to be about two or just a little more. Timeline kinda fuzzy. She may have spent lots of time fleeing in the US (robbing NM banks?).
Comment 30, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
It worries me to see Aaron being raised by Kate considering the physic’s warnings in season 1 that “great danger surrounds this child” if it is raised by anyone but Claire.
Kate’s mom said that everything changed when she thought Kate was dead and that her doctors had been giving her 6 months to live for the last 4 years… so does that mean it has been 4 years since the plane crash?
I have a theory about who’s in the coffin, but I guess I should post it under that episode.

I’m not sure how much of that scene you were able to hear, lostchicka, but basically Miles asked Ben if he knew who he worked for and why he was there, and Ben said yes. Then Miles said if Ben gives him $3.2 million, Miles would tell his boss that Ben is dead. Ben agrees, Miles says he has a week to come up with the money.
An interesting thing about that scene - Kate destroyed the lock, and they didn’t show anyone going back to fix it or replace it. So if Ben can somehow get loose from his shackles, he could escape.

And WHY would Jack be weirded out by seeing the baby if it’s Aaron??
I don’t mean this in any sort of insensitive or mean way, but am I the only one who thinks maybe the child playing Aaron has Down’s Syndrome? Look closely. If so, not only would Jack not want to see him because he feels guilty about Claire, but he also would feel guilty about whatever happened to Aaron to “change” him.

OK not as great as last weeks “shocking” ending.
Everyone seems to think they heard Kate call him Aaron, which would be shocking and lead us to believe Claire had been left behind or somehow “not made it”.
I listened to it twice (and will now have to revisit) and thought she called him ERIC. He looked to be between 2 - 3 years old to me.
Figured it was Sawyers’ and that’s why Jack didn’t seem interested. HOWEVER, Kate DID tell Sawyer right before she left ‘New Otherton’ that she was SURE she was NOT preggers.

The first questions that come to mind after this episode are -
What’s the deal with the memory card game?
What happened to the helicopter? Where are Sayid and Desmond?
Why is Locke suddenly making all the “rules” that people have to follow?
Is Kate pregnant or not? Does she really take a sip of wine Sawyer gives her?
Why does Kate’s mom change her mind on testifying against her?
Why doesn’t Jack want to see Kate’s baby?
Does Locke have any clue of what’s going on?

It could be that Claire died and Kate is now looking after Aaron. In Desmond’s vision, he saw Claire and Aaorn get on the copter but not safe at home. The helicopter has trouble travelling to and from (as shown in next ep. preview)the island. Maybe something happens when they are flying away from the island. Jack doesn’t want to see the baby because it reminds him that he couldn’t save Claire.
Just a thought.

I would hope nothing is wrong with him. Seriously, I don’t even have a theory for this. I feel like it could go in so many different directions right now….It’s Sawyer’s and she named it wafter Aaron, or it’s actually Aaron which I think is the most likely, OR the baby transported himself from the island to that bed to visit Kate like the polar bears and the rabbits! Thank you - I do vaguely remember that from one of the earlier seasons - I guess the fact that they don’t know yet explains why it is never mentioned. So, the assumption is that by the time they are off the island he knows that she is or was his sister, and that Aaron is his nephew. Maybe that explains why he doesn’t want to see Aaron - painful memories connected to his father etc and if he has lost a sister he only just found maybe that is also painful?

Kate is pretending it is hers or she would not have kept it up with her mother (”I only want to see my grandson”). I am sure that woman would not care about seeing and adopted grandson…
I think Jack had to make some decision which took Aaron away from Claire…I have a feeling Claire is dead..which may have to do with the psychic’s prediction that Claire had to stay with the baby or great harm would come (but I thought it was to the baby, not to Claire)..

Now I am convinced that when Danny boy was watching the discovery of Oceanic 815, it was a flash forward and due to his memory issue he can’t remember why he’s affected. Another thought: The “construction plan” of the barracks has several large tunnels 20′ wide and/or deep stringing out from beneath the barracks compound. Ben jailed below ground is the first time we’ve seem anything basement-oriented below the barracks. Maybe there is tunnel access down where Ben is now… or through another secret panel from Bens’ secret closet?

it was also really interesting to me that there was a “jail cell” of sorts in ben’s house’s basement
is this where jack was kept in season 3?
it is interesting to me b/c this was a dharma house before it was ben’s house. why would dharma need a jail cell down there? it almost reminded me of something built during the cold war as a nuclear bomb shelter

why would miles choose 3.2 million??? i think ben is getting money for “working with dharma” tho i’m not sure if they’d be getting paid that much.

does anyone else think kate’s feelings toward aaron (in the flash forwards) are strange?
she goes from being kind of anti-mommy to caring sooooo much about him: she won’t let him come to court, can’t wait to get back, tells jack they can’t even have coffee until he’ll come see him, cries when she finally gets to see him
these are all things a “real” mom (i don’t mean genetic, i mean someone who has cared for the child for a long time) would feel
but it seems that kate has only had aaron since they left the island
while we don’t know how long that has been, it just seems like a total 180 for her character, so something MAJOR must have happened with claire for kate to feel such connection to/responsiblity for aaron
remember, this is the kate who can’t stay in any one place for very long or have any real attachments
thoughts?

ben has been coming and going off the island for a long time judging by his passports and how much money he apparently makes. i doubt ben would claim to be one of the oceanic 6 as he doesn’t need to be a part of that to travel to and from the island nor would he want to draw that kind of attention for himself if the freighter tots’ boss wants him dead.
kate’s friend (71): no he was kept in the hydra.

Thanks, Skweez.
So the O6 are Sayid, Hurley, Jack, Kate, Aaron and ???
I thought that the baby had Down Syndrome for a second or two, but I think it was just the angle of the camera. And obviously Claire’s Aaron does not have DS. DS is not something you can come down with so, if the baby has DS, then it is Kate’s baby, not Claire’s. However, my guess is that something has happened to Claire and Kate has “adopted” Aaron. I’m guessing that when they were rescued she just said that Aaron was hers.

They think they were on the island 100 days, but time goes slower on the island. It has really been a few years. That is why Walt was taller, and why Aaron is older. They quickly age/grow/catch up somehow after leaving the island.
I think it was Aaron, no Claire and Jack feels guilt. The 6th is either (from manifest) Jin/Sun/Bernard/Rose/Sawyer/Locke/Cindy(flight attendant). But 8 survived in the new story, Claire must be one of the 8.

Lisa - it was 100% Aaron, I’ve heard it over 10 times, the closed captioning said Aaron, and why would there be weird music and a cliffhanger after Eric? It doesn’t even sound close to a k sound and the n sound is quite long and deliberate so having said you listened to it repeatedly, you must get your ears checked.

Ahhh… the twists and turns, questions answered, questions gained. That’s the beauty of LOST. It is a journey.
Speaking of the Jack and Clarie sibling connection, I’d like to know what the story is behind Christian Shepherd and his Aussie love (Claire’s mom)? That would be interesting to know. He obviously left her pregnant or with a baby years ago (couldn’t have met her on the net cuz Claire’s mid-20’s), so why did he come back when she was comatose after the car wreck? Did Claire’s flashback episode really answer that? I can’t remember. Did Christian tell Jack he was going to Australia or were they not speaking and Jack just got a call that’s dad’s dead in Australia. I forgot. I can’t remember if we know anything about Jack’s mom either. If Jack didn’t know why dad was in Australia has he investigated it since he was rescued and now knows his half-sibling connection to Claire? I don’t know. Strikes me that this may possibly be an important story line. Maybe that will give us more info on Christian that we will need since he’s now in Jacob’s cabin.
Yes, I thought the baby did look like Charlie for a second.
I like the Star Wars connections to the scenes. Hey, another connection. Luke and Leah (Jack and Claire) found out they were half-siblings and their father was VADER!!!! OOOHH…. Christian Shepherd, Jacob, VADER!!! COOL!!!!

Kate’s Friend(Comment 82): The only connection I see is Kate delivered the baby.
I definitely agree that something major happened to Claire. “What?” is the question. I think Claire stays behind or dies trying to save the baby for some reason and she gives him to Kate at the last moment and Kate is the only woman that survives so she adopts the baby. Maybe a connection between women dying when they have babies on the island. The vaccination does the opposite effect and causes her to stay on the island or she will die, but knows Aaron is better off getting off the island.
I think it’s ridiculous if Claire is in the coffin. Why would she not have friends and nobody be at her funeral. I would hope that Kate would have brought her Aaron.
Comment 100, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
I don’t really think there’s any doubt that Kate’s “son” is actually Claire’s Aaron. Kate says she’s not pregnant and drinks wine; Jack wouldn’t want to see him because he is haunted by whatever lie they’ve been telling, and by the fact that Aaron has (for whatever reason) been separated from Claire. Aaron is not with her because (a) Claire died, (b) she asked that he be taken off the island for his own safety, or (c) he was taken from her forcibly. Any of those reasons would cause Jack and Kate serious guilt.

Not to get all lawyer-ree.
But technically AARON is not one of the OA Six either. He wasn’t on the manifest. He was born after the crash. (I KNOW THE ARGUMENTS BOTH WAYS ON THIS).
The enhanced version of the “Economist” at the beginning, said we have now seen four OA 6 when they showed said in assassin mode. Ben was after that factoid, and so was Aaron this week. That pop-up confirmed Kate from last season as one of the six. This episode reverified that.
I still believe there are two left. PLUS two more, a 7th and 8th. The testimony in court was that there were 8 that survived the actual crash (Kate + 7 she single-handedly saved). Who says those two died on the island, they could have died leaving the island. Like Claire on a helo - the vision was that she left on a helo. Fine, the helo ditched and she didn’t make it the freighter. Vision true - Claire dead!
What I wonder is if the Kate story is to hold-up, do folks now think she was 8 months pregnant at the time of crash? Tough to save 7 other folks in that condition/
Comment 118, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
I actually wondered if Kate’s attitude about her “son” reflected a specific commitment she made to Claire. When she refuses to bring him to the courtroom, and when she denies her mother the chance to see him, it seems like she is not only protecting him but maybe hiding him. Is this because she doesn’t want people to figure out his true identity?
On the other hand, she almost insists that Jack see him. Why? If they’re all living a lie and trying to hide from the truth, why would she care whether or not Jack spends time with Aaron?
Comment 119, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Come on people… We should all know by know that the Lost writers wouldn’t give us such a predictable episode.
We need to think deeper. My friend and I think that Kate has an older son as well as Aaron. Would explain alot. Possibly from rape from stepfather. Why would lawyer want a 2 1/2 year old in the courtroom? He does say they need him in the courtroom. And remember when Sawyer asked Kate why she was in a hurry to get off the island when all she had to look forward to was jail?? IF lawyer wanted to use “son” for sympathy wouldn’t the jury already know of “aaron” he is one of the infamous Oceanic 6. The lawyer did ask about the internet and papers. The jury would never convict Kate if there was another child from the stepfather.

How about this? Ben takes Aaron safely off-island with him when he leaves clandestinely. Why? How do you think he gets free of Locke?
Sometime soon we loose Claire. Kate takes over the mom role for Aaron (Kate had mommy issues). Ben proposes permanent safety for Aaron, if Kate sells her soul (like Sayid). The deal, she facilitates his escape from Locke, he guarantees Aarons return to her. The only thing, Kate has to leave publicly (as OA Six). This guarantees her cooperation on the other side, giving Ben continued coercion powers.

So, in this episode are the flash forwards/trial scenes in 2008? Jack said the crash was in 2004. Is Aaron supposed to be 4? He didn’t look four years old. Did Kate’s mom mean that it had been four years since the crash? “For four years the doctors have been telling me I have 6 months to live?”
Another question? What do you think is behind Sun telling Jin that she wanted to raise HER baby in Korea? Why would they include that if it didn’t have any meaning?
Comment 132, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Just a quick thought re: Ben & the 3.2 million — remember the “magic box” that can make anything you want appear? I think that ghost-buster dude is saying he knows all about Ben and his special abilities (or the abilities of the island, rather). How does he know? I have no idea!
Comment 133, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Ray — do you remember the episodes around the time Sun found out she was pregnant? I remember there was a lot of speculation on this blog that Juliet lied to Sun, telling her that the baby was conceived on the island. Since pregnant women die on the island, if Sun survived (in reality because Juliet lied & Sun had actually conceived the baby before the crash with another man) Juliet could claim that she had “solved” this fertility problem that Ben hired her to fix & he would let her go home.
If this is true, then Sun may still be thinking about this as “her” baby, not her & Jin’s baby.

Great episode tonight!
I’m thinking that with how old Aaron looked in the crib/bed (2.5-3 years old), that must mean that the Oceanic 6 are not getting off the island anytime soon. The flash forwards are things that happen well into the future. I don’t think they are rescued by the freighter tots. The story line will probably play out a bit longer with Aaron growing on the island, and then we’ll see Penelope’s search party come in to rescue them near the end.
I’m pretty sure Jack didn’t want to see Aaron because he is still grieving over what happened to Claire on the island. Maybe he wasn’t able to save her or it was his fault she died. Remember that Jack has a rescuer complex. He took it personally when he was told he couldn’t fix his future ex-wife’s back (Sarah?) Maybe Jack just can’t bring himself to face the reality that there was someone he couldn’t save.
I’m not convinced that the scenes with Daniel and the pilot in the REAL WORLD were flash forwards. The show has a tendency to give flashbacks on new characters. Plus with Charlotte’s flashback to Tunisia, it gives her reason to do research on the island. Also, I think it is asking alot to believe that none of the four tot’s are going to die on the island. We’ve seen that it is a pretty violent/dangerous place.
Does anyone know what the Temple is that the other’s have been sent to? I am so curious to see them again. Ok that’s it for now. –justin
Comment 137, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Firstly, someone earlier left a comment on how old Aaron could be. He couldn’t be 4 or why would he still be in a crib. I believe when Jack came to her rescue at the courthouse, this took place before the first time we saw them together at the airport where he was a raving lunatic and insisted they had to go back to the island. She said she wouldn’t but was going home to her husband. No husband showed up at the trial. Only Aaron was asked to be a character witness? at two? at four? I think Kate needed that boy for whatever reason, whether it was Claire’s Aaron or her own, that’s what gave her purpose and a chance to get out of trouble.
Comment 138, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
A few observations, mostly already pointed out, but interesting, at least to me.
- Aaron is Claire’s Aaron. What happens to have it come about that Aaron is with Kate?
- If the world at large has been told 8 survived the crash, then we have the Oceanic 6 plus 2 dead people from the manifest as well. One of the questions of interest could be the identities of those two people. Was Locke the person in the coffin? Is Claire one of the dead?
- In order to be rescued, the 6 (or 8) have to been found somewhere other than the Island.
- What makes Kate, et al, so sure that anyone is back on the island, if it still “exists,” to go back to?
- The reason Kate has to stay in the state is so the “powers that be” can track Aaron. Aaron is extraordinary.
Comment 139, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Kate’s house IS nice, but I believe that cash came from Oceanic Air’s settlement with the victims who survived… Speaking of which, there is either (A) incentive for Jack/Kate to lie about what really happened or (B) some folks wanted to stay on the island and be left alone. Not sure how either could pan out if there’s a legitimate rescue mission that previously ocurred and/or NONE of the Oceanic 6 will come out with the truth… I agree with somebody above, that Aaron is waaaay to important to both Kate AND particularly, her mom! The kid must have been ‘born on the island’ or some other lie, because her mom says she never saw the kid once in her 4 years of being ‘6 months from death,’ so something is fishy and I don’t think that boy was born outside the island, though they must have been missing long enough for the public to believe the kid is Kate’s and was born there. Hmmm, LOL.

i’m left confused. i thought with a name like eggtown there would be eastereggs all through this thing. i thought they were having some fun! i’ve combed blogs and haven’t found anything really interesting. it was a fine story and fairly neat ending but did kate really need to go through all of that (conning locke and getting miles and ben in the same room) to realize that as a wanted person she might be found out as a wanted person? if she had been on the lam for that long can she really be this naive? did she think something may have happened that people would not recognize her as a murderer–like ben changing the past?
Comment 143, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Well, so far we know that 2 of the Oceanic 6 are people who did not want to leave the island. It could be that they were just in the wrong place at the wrong time when the “rescuers” showed up. They are obviously all trying to protect some secret, lying about the number of people who survived the crash, and Hurley asking if Jack was visiting to see if he was going to tell.
Maybe Kate was simply watching Aaron when they were discovered and lied to protect Claire, saying she died in childbirth or something of the sort. Claire could very well be still living on the island.
Does anyone else think that Ben or Widmore or someone else may be after Aaron and that was why Kate was so quick to agree to 10 years probation?

At the end of season three, doesn’t Jack see that someone died when he reads the newspaper? Maybe that is all coming full circle now with the coffin (?)
Also, if Kate goes to Tunisia as we saw in a previous episode does that mean that some if not all of these flash forwards are 10 yrs ahead (since she isnt even allowed to leave the state for 10 yrs as part of her probation, let alone leave the country.) Just a couple thoughts…

Why is it such a big deal for people to bring up their questions or theories on past episodes, including who is in the coffin? I don’t mind reading people’s opinions or theories on anything to do with LOST.

Kate said she wasn’t good with babies, then we see her in the end with, what we were led to believe was Clair’s child. It is clear that there are lots of holes.
I think everyone is dead, and the six are somehow being hidden in the public eye.
They been given lots of money that’s for sure. Oceanic Airlines is hiding something and is a big part of it.
I believe that Sawyer is number 6 and it’s Sayeed in the coffin.

What Kate literally said to Jack at the end of the season opener was:
JACK: No, I’m sick of lying. We made a mistake.
KATE: I have to go. He’s gonna be wondering where I am…
So, the “he” turned out to be Aaron, in most likelihood a normal, health boy about age 5 by that time. I’ll admit, I thought he looked like he had down’s syndrome in the first few seconds of that scene. I don’t think he was in a crib as someone said earlier. Didn’t Kate sit down at the foot of his bed?
As for all the ’significance’ of Xanadu…that might have meant something if the DocH hadn’t gotten Xanadu confused with Shan-gri-la. Xanadu was a real Mongolian city, north of Beijing, noted for its opulence…not so much for mystical properties. It inspired the poem Kubla Kahn. Shangri-la was a fictional Himalayan city in the book Lost Horizon that legends say may have existed. Or maybe the book inspired the stories?

I was waiting for Kate to say “Aaron” to the child and at the end she did it. So it was very predictable. But still very very interesting.
1) It could be Kate’s and Sawyer’s son and she just named him after Claire’s Aaron.
2) It’s Claire’s Aaron and Claire is not one of the Oceanic 6.
There are not enough hints to decide it now for sure.
But I think, it’s the second theory.
So the question would be, what happened to Claire that she gave up Aaron?
1) Claire is dead. Would be really sad and dramatic but I just don’t want to believe it.
2) Claire somehow didn’t make it to get rescued (for which reason?). This would fit Charlies visit to Hurley in Santa Rosa. Charlie cared a lot for Claire and Aaron. The only reason he went on his suicide mission was to save Claire and Aaron. And when he want’s Hurley to go back, it’s perhaps because of Claire’s and Aaron’s seperation (and Hurley knows about all of this and that’s why he has visions of Charlie visiting him).
If “Aaron” is Sawyers and Kates kid, Jack doesn’t want to see him, because this would remind him of the time Kate and Sawyer spent together.
If it’s Claire’s Aaron, Jack wouldn’t want to see him because this would remind him of Claire who had to be left on the island with the others who weren’t rescued. I bet he would feel guilty that he made it and Claire didn’t (especially if he gets to know that him and Claire are siblings).
And this all leads to the big questions: Why there are only 6 people rescued. And why they are lying?
Comment 152, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
The freighter tots had flashbacks. Each of them learned of 815 being found during their flashbacks. Naomi had told Charlie and Des that 815 had been found and there were no survivors. This happened before the other 4 landed on the island. Their reactions to the news was part of the reasoning for them being chosen for the mission.

I’m guessing that they are counting Aaron as one of the 6. That Jack was going to say, in court, that Claire died in childbirth and Kate took care of Aaron from delivery. Kate didn’t want to hear that lie again which is why she stopped Jack. Jack dosn’t want to see Aaron because he feels guilty over Claires death.
However Claire dies, and I’m sure she did, Hurley also feels guilt over it. Perhaps it is part of how Ben controlls Sayed also.

I doubt if the “him” Kate is referring to is Aaron. It looks like Kate is out there pretty late, wouldn’t Aaron be asleep? It sounds like she had to make up a reason to be going out so late i.e “I’m running to the store” & that’s why she said “I have to go. He’s gonna be wondering where I am.” I could be wrong, maybe it was a Friday & Kate & Aaron were up late watching Letterman. For all we know right now, she could have Locke waiting at home for her.
OK I think that’s it for now. I wish I was this involved with my papers for class.

Kate took aaron as her own it was a further explanation to why she is a hero and would have helped her case, jack claims that 8 survived, so the world knows that 8 people survived the crash but only six get home, meaning that they tell the outside world that claire survived, died on the island and kate took care of the baby, also Jack might not want to see the baby because it reminds him of his soon to be dead half sister that he finds out about before she dies?

I think what we are seeing is the middle of the story. (I think the end is they all go back to the island.) Unsure why Claire did not leave the island, whether she is dead or whether at some point only a certain number are rescued. Or perhaps she dies on the freighter, that would confirm Desmond’s vision. It appears that Ben is backed by a powerful group with the island’s safety in mind and the other side is led by Widmore/Paik. I am guessing the money was not necessarily a settlement but more of a payment for everyone’s silence. (Why wasn’t Hurley well off?? Remember Abbaddon’s offer?) Did the payoff come from Oceanic or Ben!? Someone above mentioned that Kate seemed to be telling everyone she had a child as if the general public did not know. So how did they get rescued and Aaron remained hidden? Great episode although I agree by the end we did see it coming. Chilling just the same!
Comment 164, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Aaron looks to be about 2 1/2- 3 (based on chubby cheeks, hand size, youth bed, not crib) HOWEVER, many times kid actors are not the correct age…)
Kate goes to see her sick mom in the hospital and THEN goes to australia, works for a while and then gets caught, taken to island, etc. Therefore, g’ma’s four years is not the same as the age of Aaron.
I agree with the short-term memory loss of Daniel except that people truly with that disorder can hardly function….can’t remember what they are about to do, people’s names, etc. He obviously has suffered some type of disability…maybe it has to do with his experiments (like he got hit by his own rocket or something).
So we know that Jack loves Kate, she loves him…
the “last eggs” has got to be significant
YES, I believe it is Sun and Jin who get off…(so if claire dies, who else “dies”)? I think the six go to a different island where they are rescued and brought back…otherwise the rescuers would have found lots of buried bodies on their island. We know that Sayid has to regroup with jack and kate….I bet the helo takes them somewhere else and THEN they are found.
Any clues about the trailer? It was way too fast and my DVR cut off about half of it…

Also, thinking a little more about the FF’s from the season 3 finale, all during the episode, Jack was calling Kate, and Kate never answered. Perhaps she was avoiding Jack. Then when she does agree to meet him, she wants to keep it short and sweet, doesn’t want to discuss going back to the island, and finally just wants to leave Jack. Bit not wanting to hurt Jack’s feelings, she uses Aaron as the excuse.

Is anyone else wondering when Desmond is going to give Claire the list that Charlie stuck in his pocket during the season finale last year?
I also think that the “freighter tots” are definitely connected with Dharma. I think that Penelope’s father is also associated with Dharma because when Desmond went to visit him at his office there was a Dharma-type picture behind him. And also, wasn’t Des racing in a boat race that Penny’s father sponsored? Maybe he had something to do with Des crashing on the island - after all, he didn’t want Desmond to be with Penny. This could be how Naomi had Desmond and Penny’s picture and why Frank and Daniel gave that look when Desmond asked if they knew Penelope.
I think that this week’s episode answered a lot of my questions that I had. I think this was a great episode. I think that the reason why kate didn’t want to go back to the island is because she has the 10-year probation sentence. Maybe she is finally happy with her life now that she has Aaron and wants to settle down and is tired of running. Maybe Ben or the others want Aaron because he is “special” and she feels she needs to protect him.
The Oceanic Six probably lied about there not being other survivors because they want to protect them. Or they came up with that plan to protect Kate because they knew she was going to be in trouble with the law when she returned. Maybe they made up that story to make her look like a hero to help her defense. They might possibly realize that the island is indeed special, so they need to protect their friends on the island. I really don’t think that Ben is a good guy - but he is probably right on most accounts. Maybe they realize that they should have trusted Ben - and now just want to protect their friends who stayed on the island. I don’t think that Claire is dead. I just think that at the moment they had to be rescued she wasn’t there and Kate just took Aaron. I can’t imagine Claire dying.
This episode also made be kind of not like Kate. I thought it was selfish of her to take Miles to Ben just so that he would tell her what he knew about her. Obviously the plane crash would be all over the news and I’m sure there would be mention to a convicted felon being on the plane. So of course he knew who she was!
One last thing, I still think that Miles looks like the guy from the Dharma videos and could be his son! (Could be far-fetched - but you never know!)

I think the only point of Kate saying she wasn’t good with babies was to draw a parallel between her and Claire. After Kate said that, she pointed out how Claire was so good with Aaron. Claire laughed at that notion - she never expected to be a good mother. I think she said that several times in season 1 as well. But, once a woman has a baby, instinct takes over, and most of the time the mother knows just what to do, and she ends up feeling a love for that baby that she never thought she’d be capable of feeling.
Somehow, the same evolution happened to Kate. For whatever reason, Kate has become Aaron’s caretaker, and she developed feelings for Aaron she never thought she could have, and has learned how to be a good, loving mother.
Comment 178, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Thoughts on “Aaron”:
Recall the beachside breakfast Kate had with Ben. Perhaps part of the conversation we the audience weren’t privy to had to do with WHY Ethan kidnapped Claire. Maybe what the psychic said about Claire needing to raise the baby herself and not give him up is significant in this regard. There must be some connection to what happened to her (Claire) while she was with the Others and the way in which Kate ended up with the baby. If there is something up with Aaron becuase he isn’t being raised by Claire, that would explain why Kate says to Jack in his flash forward “You know how he gets.”
We need to go back to the cannon and put all of these new clues into the bigger picture. This episode what just as much about Claire & Aaron as it was about Kate and if we think about it like that, makes a heck of lot more “big deal” sense.
Comment 179, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
I think that Miles is Ben’s “man on the boat”. I think that when Miles was talking to Ben and telling him that he would report back that Ben had died, and then was talking about how much money he wanted from Ben…I think that it was a secret code. Miles was the one who talked about using a secret code with Naomi when we first saw him…the whole “tell my sister I love her” thing. I think when Ben said “why $3.2 million, why not $3.3 or $3.4?”, that he was confirming whatever message Miles was trying to tell him. Mile also said that Ben had 3 days and Ben said that he needed a week, which Miles agreed to. I think this was more code talk.
They also have the fellow ghost whisperers connection. Did anyone else get that feeling about their conversation?

I doubt very much D&C would introduce a second baby and name it Aaron to deliberately mislead the audience. Yes I know we’ve been misled many times (Mikhail’s “deaths”, Henry turning out to be Ben the leader of the Others, etc etc). But to me, having this be a second Aaron would be a more direct lie to the audience, if you know what I mean.
Part of the reason I think this is the comments D&C made in that Doc Jensen interview, when they discussed the two bracelets in “The Economist”. The message boards were flooded with speculation that Sayid took Naomi’s bracelet and gave it to Else. D&C pretty much laughed at that, saying that they had each woman wear a bracelet to draw parallels between Sayid’s island life and post-island life.
Also, in the podcast from earlier this week, D&C said the last line in “Eggtown” is “a killer”. I don’t think you’d consider it a killer if the baby wasn’t Claire’s Aaron.

I’m wondering why no one has suggested that Locke may be the man in the coffin. He’s the obvious choice: no family, not a friend! Jack looked like he was repentant at the funeral home, and he said to Kate that he wanted to go back. Maybe he’s repentant because he knows he was ultimately wrong about getting off the island and Locke was right?! I have a sense that Locke FOLLOWED THROUGH with suicide, where Jack failed in the first episode this season. And Jack is the kind of man to pay homage to his greatest competitor.
The baby is Aaron. Claire is obviously dead if that is the case, since no mother would give up her child for any cause (even though she was a reluctant mother before she reached the island). It really annoys me to hear people talk about “maybe she named him in honor…” when the story obviously directs us otherwise. I know this show is full of twists, but this is obviously a plot twist to keep us squirming. (Notice: this was revealed at the very end of the episode, much like other plot twists)
I feel that if there was a severe time difference from the island to the real world, it would be more obvious. Yes, Aaron is a few years old, but we don’t know how long they stay on the island, either. The rest of the world accepts them as some sort of heroic icon, not an item that defies space/time. If the time difference was a big deal, they would all be employed by science to explain how, not wandering the free world attempting to regain their old lives.
The freighter tots are a motley bunch too. People have speculated about whether their back stories are flashforwards or flashbacks. It’s very unclear, because Charlotte was reading a newspaper about the crash when she finds polar bear remains in the desert, but then, how would she know to look in the desert for polar bears? Miles works extorting money from the superstitious, and then asks Ben for cash… but couldn’t it be the other way around where Miles NEEDS to extort people because Ben cheated him somehow? And Danny? He’s just plain weird… Don’t think he’ll be much of a character other than to reveal “secret” information that propells the story.
This is quite enough for a first time blogging here.

I bet that she isn’t hiding the fact that she adopted Aaron and I’m certain Calire is going to die in some terribly tragic way. I also suspect that Ben & the others know why Claire needed to raise him herself and whatever Aaron’s “powers” are, the others wanted to harness for themselves despite warnings.

Okay so I haven’t posted in FOREVER… since like TLE… but I have been reading. Here is my two cents for what it’s worth. If I hit on some stuff that someone else hit on, my apologies. I’m at work and can’t read all 170+ posts.
SO………
I had to TiVo last night because I went to a hockey game so when I got home at midnight I sat down to watch.
Obviously the ‘he’ Kate is referring to in last seasons finale is Aaron and not Sawyer like we all thought.
I think that its possible that this FF (flash forward) is actually before the FF from the season finale. Something happens that causes Jack to ‘want to go back’ and I dont think that he can go from what he was in the SF to what he was last night.
I spent the last couple of weeks trying to guesstimate who the Oceanic 6 are. Well.. last night Jack when on the stand talks about 8 survivors… but two had perished.
We know that Sayid left with Desmond. We know that Sayid (now) works for Ben. We know that these ‘people’ want Ben. So, my thinking is that (and looking at next weeks teaser) Sayid and Desmond kind of become prisoners in a way. These ‘people’ then also take Ben as a prisoner. Ben convinces Sayid to help him escape. (I mean comeon if you needed to escape from something wouldn’t YOU want Sayid there??)Ben tells Sayid that the others are in danger and he is the only person that can help save them. So… sayid being Sayid goes for it. (Now) Sayid is knocking off all these people for Ben who he thinks will harm the Oceanic 6… but in fact I believe the list is a compilation of people who know of the islands existance. Ben wants to go back and by killing off all those who know something about it… it would be alot safer to go back.
Also, something else struck me. We (I) assumed last week that Sayid was part of the 6 when he told the man on the golf course that he was. However the man did not know this prior to Sayid telling him. BUT last night Kates lawyer said “but she has one of the most recognizable faces on the planet. everyone knows who she is.” SO…. is Sayid was one of the 6, why was mr. shot in the head while on the green not able to recognize him?
On to my last observation.
Obviously something happens to Claire… which sucks because I like her. Shes alot like me. Anywho… as of right now Jack still has no idea that Claire is his sister. So why wouldn’t he want to see Aaron? Obviously he figures it out sometime between then..and now.. or now.. and then.. agh… timelines!.. Anywho.. I’m thinking that Claire dying might have something to do with Jack. We all know Lost is about making decisions. Everyone thinks the big decision is Kate:Sawyer or Kate:Jack. Turns out.. she doesn’t have to decide. Sawyer stays on the island and Jack doesn’t want her. SO… the big decision? I’m thinking it comes down to Kate or Claire. I know that it wont be this dramatic but for an example bare with me. Lets say Kate Jack Claire and Aaron are on a helicopter. It starts spinning out of control. Aaron and Jack are fine but Clarie and Kate are hanging on by one arm ala Sylvester Stallone. Jack can only save one… he chooses kate. He gets home… finds out that Claire was his sister and he didn’t choose to save her…… he’s just killed (or let die) his sister and his nephews mother. That seems a good reason to not want to see him…
Aaron was born on the island so there is no birth record. Kate just tells everyone she was pregnant and had him on the island.
Comment 192, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Quick observation…How could Kate claim that Aaron is hers? Wasn’t Claire pregnant on the plane? I mean like showing and everything? The timeline for that would be too easy to debunk.
Also I used to like Locke, but I’m having second thoughts…

Here’s a few things that popped out last night,
I agree, that the flashforwards are the middle for sure. They will go back by the end of the show.
I find it interesting, on the island all the losties have new idenities, new life, pretty good so far , Sawyer made a great point last week about playing house.
Now that we have seen some of the Oceanic 6, life sucks for them, the island was the better place to be. In some ways, the experience didn’t change them and make them “better” people, if you want to get philosophical about the “magic” of the island.
Jack is still a Doctor
Kate is still a Fugitive
Hurley is still in mental care
Sayed is still killing/taking orders
**Ben is still callling all the shots…hum…
I thought the Xanadu thing was very interesting, I recently read Lost Horizon and now that the mention Xanadu in the story, there is a Shangrala/Xanadu world going on for sure. Leave it all behind.

Kate could have been pregnant on the plane. The only people that would know for sure that she wasn’t are the people that were on the plane. Hurley, Jack, well thats all we really know.. but they are going to give her up. Why would they?
Kate was a fugitive on the run. It’s not like she was having Sunday tea parties with her picture in the society section. No one would have known if she were pregnant or not.

I don’t think this is true at all. Names on the manifest are going to be the O6. Aaron is probably not going to get a part of the settlement dollars like the rest do, unless there’s some story line about Claire dying in childbirth and he surviving her blah blah blah. 8 survived the initial crash and of those 8 survivors (aaron’s not born yet remember) 6 got off the island which means 2 die (again aaron may not be born yet according to this fictitious storyline). The two ideas aren’t mutually exclusive. Aaron may be an O6er or may not be. There is nothing absolute about your opinion.

If we believe that the Aaron from Eggtown IS Claire’s Aaron (which I do), the possible time differential (that 31 minutes being the most significant clue thus far) between Island Time and ROTW (Rest of the World) could be the way Kate can pretened Aaron is hers.
Going on the assumption that Claire was 8 months pregnant when the plane crashed, that puts her 8 months “ahead” of the possibility that Kate got pregnant on the island, or perhaps 5 months “ahead” of the possibility that Kate was pregnant, but not showing when on the plane.
Given the rampant variants of ideas about time passing on Island, versus ROTW, why couldn’t Kate make the world think Aaron is hers?
I am not saying she is going to, but it IS a possibility.

Did anyone catch what that fat guy yelled at Kate when she got out of the car to the courtroom with all of the paparazzi? I replayed it back and forth and it sounded like, “where’s john locke?” but can’t confirm…don’t know if closed caption caught it or not.

i couldn’t agree more with toeknee…this is the weakest of the 4 episodes so far…but it had it’s moments, i just think it was kind of slow and with little information, at least from what i wanted to know :)
So i think Kate has Claire’s son, but then maybe she lost hers at some point of the pregnancy.
Kate’s not my favorite character, she’s always fishy about things and living lies all the time, making wrong decisions.
What about the house where she lives! wow, nice house, maybe Claire’s?
I miss sayid, i was hoping to see more about where they went.
So this episode focused on Kate…mmm…. not my favorite, the 3rd one was amazing! hopefully the 5th will be better….
Comment 201, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Damn, my head’s spinnin’ now!
I’ll go along with ‘Aaron’ (in lieu of Eric) based on at least 2 previous posts claiming Closed Caption verification, which Was one of my
‘middle of the night’ thoughts (but haven’t verified myself yet).
Makes more sense anyway in terms of “shock value”.
Besides, Kate told Sawyer she was SURE she wasn’t preggers.
Only thing that bothers me is, she was definitely not that interested in holding Aaron back in New Otherton and at the end she sure
looked like that was HER baby with extreme caring. A HUGE change!
AND, since there has been lots of speculation already I’ll try NOT to reiterate.
Briefly, my ‘guess’ is Des & Sayid eventually landed somewhere else, NOT the Freighter and the complete O6 (or O8) set of ’survivors’
joined them in a future Ep, including Claire & Aaron, Jack, Kate, Hurley. That’s 7, but I’m NOT counting Aaron (not on 815), giving us
the O6. That fulfills Des’ “vision” and If you want to count Aaron & Ben, that’s 8.
Then somewhere in their transport back to the “Real World”, something ELSE goes wrong (as if these folks haven’t had enough drama
already) and Claire (unfortunately) doesn’t make it through this second catastrophy. (Not only that but) Jack has the opportunity to
save her and for some reason fails and is devastated by his failure, thereby making it painful for him to visit Aaron. All this happens
WITHOUT him ever finding out they are 1/2 siblings.
Since Claire doesn’t make it, we still need one more to survive as the O6 who “make it home”.
Perhaps Jacks’ testimony was NOT that much lying and MOSTLY true.
Maybe Kate was heroic is saving all 6 from the second catastrophy and in the last seconds of Claires life she handed Aaron off to Kate,
bringing about Kates’ sudden “attitude adjustment”.
The ‘Big Coverup’?
All the lies?
WHY would Jack testify there were 8 who survived the crash and 6 that made it back home?
Could he be referring to a second crash?
WHY does he feel compelled to conceal the real truth about Island survivors?
A jigsaw puzzle with missing pieces!
A note on Flash Forwards: We’re being fed all these F/F’s (and F/b’s) but they are certainly NOT in chronological order.
Part of the puzzle is to figure out that order in our theories to solve this mystery.
I HATE these 7 day waits. The Season Box Sets would be the only way to watch this series IF we could wait! I almost wish I was on the
Island and could “make it home”, buy all 6 seasons and watch every Ep bang . . . bang . . . bang.

Note on Daniel’s memory game: I don’t think he has lost ALL of his short term memory, but it may have been affected by something which would explain why in his earlier flashes we met his home health aide. It would also explain why he didn’t “know” why he was upset by the plane crash.
Perhaps as he remains on the island, we’ll see and distinct change in his ability to recall information (healing powers of the island much?).

Just catching up this morning. I’ve been reaading this for awhile but never posted so here goes..
I’ll get the coffin out of the way. I was under the impression that this was a flashback and it was his father in the coffin. This coffin thing has opened a new can of worms for me. Oh well. I guess I really wasn’t paying attention.
Few theories on Aaron. My first thought was that this is Claire’s Aaron. I don’t think Claire is dead. She is still on the island. Somehow, they had to leave her and took Aaron. Remember, copters have a weight limit. It would make sense they could take a child and not a full grown adult. Kate/Jack/whoever else took Aaron, either knowing they could not come back for Claire or something happened that they could not come back for her. Hero’s decision… sacrificing a few for the good of the whole. Kate needed to claim Aaron as her own because they could not say that there were people still on the island. Hence, Jack’s guilt (he keeps saying they need to go back) and Kate’s feirce potectiveness. But then something else occured to me…this is a reach. Kate got pregnant on the island. You know how they are with pregnant women. She kept it a secret to protect her child from ‘them’ coming to get the kid for research or whatever the deal is with that. She passed him off as Aaron to protect him from ‘them’.
I liked the Xanadu reference. However, I do not think it has any relevance. This incredible show is full of figurative references, just like good literature, to make it interesting and make people think.
I was surprised at Kate getting Miles and Ben together. Really, really surprised. Just to find out if they know about her past? Is she considering staying on the island if they do? It doesn’t really matter if they know if she is dead set on leaving. Obviously, the feds will find her when she returns. I think there was more to that… or will be more. And then spending a snuggly night with Sawyer after he betrays her to Locke? Plain weird.
Did anyone else notice Sayid gaze at Naomi when he put her body in the copter, almost wistfully, if not knowingly? There have been a few weird moments with him. I’m almost starting to think he’s a plant and has been working with Ben all along. Granted, if that’s true he’s made it look good. The ‘friends’ he’s protecting are not the suriviors at all but others from his past or something like that. Just a thought.
Comment 204, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
This episode was kind of a let down for me. There was so much that was wrong with the whole Kate on trial thing..it really bothered me.
If Kate is/wasn’t pregnant….then why is she so rabid about going back? Like Sawyer asked her. She is wanted for murder and her own mother turned her in. Even if in my opinion the girl deserved a medal for killing that no good s.o.b. who was abusing her mother.
even though I had thought earlier that Kate somehow ends up with Aaron….I can’t believe that Claire’s family and the boyfriend would not have fought for custody giving the settlement the Oceanic 6 seems to have received.
I still believe that Ben is actually the good guy in all of this…he is protecting the island. Perhaps due to Aaron’s special powers (as well as Walt’s) they are being groomed to be the next generation of protectors for the island. Kate has been given custody of Aaron thanks to Ben and she is now working with Ben.
Like Sayid is to help the others and to protect the island.
If we take the writers at their word…there are initially 8 people who leave the island. Somehow 2 of them die in the attempt. The others choose to stay on the island…like Rose and Bernard, Sawyer…Locke would never leave the island voluntarily…he does not want to go back to being paralyzed. However, I think the island is starting to reject Locke and he will go mad…end up like Jacob in the cabin.
I don’t get the whole Sun and Jin thing. I thought she was the reason they could not have children and that the island made it possible for her to get pregnant. Even though she and Michael had a nice friendship…I don’t think it ever turned physical. But I could be wrong.
I personally am tired of Jack. I wish he would just do something…anything. He spends all of his time second guessing every decision he makes. Someone earlier said maybe Jack feels guilty because he had to choose between saving Kate and Claire and now Claire is dead. I don’t think Jack would be able to make any decision…and both Kate and Claire would be dead if it was left to him.
It still really (really) bugs me why everyone trusts Desmond. I don’t like Desmond…never have. I think he wanted Charlie gone because he liked Claire. And did anyone else notice how happy both he and Juliet were when they came back together?

Comment to 119 (and new to Lost blogging)
My friend and I think that Aaron might be Kate’s son from the rape by her step-father. That explains Kate’s attitude toward her mom seeing the baby. It also explains why she doesn’t want her son brought into the court room situation. She would have to testify to the fact the she became pregnant by her step-father. That would be another reason to want to kill him. We’re not sure if this fits in the the time line of the story, but thought it was an interesting storyline. Jack not wanting to see the child could be because she lied to him on the island by never telling him about the child and he resents her lack of trust.

Great posts by many of you. Not so great from other posters. To anyone posting about the coffin: It has been documented that the coffin has a MAN in it, so no more guessing a woman in the coffin.
If the O6 all got a big cash settlement, why is Jack always driving that piece of crap 4 wheel drive rust bucket?? Does he feel guilty for taking the money? Why did he lie so severely about Kate saving all of the 815 survivors that made it. Why couldn’t she just have been instrumental in the survival? It seems like he really went over the top and I don’t understand why.
Earlier there was a post stating maybe Ben was Penny’s dad; no chance of that. Desmond knows Penny’s father and he knows Ben so he would have known if they were the same person.
I feel bad for Daniel, he seems to have memory issues along with his timidness. I wonder if we’ll get to find out about all of his shortcomings.

Comment 208, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
Apart from Aaron conversations, i thought there were some other important things:
- people who sent Miles and Co have different agendas or are potentially loyal to different groups. Regina did not know about helicopter, and this could not have been a miscommunication between her and Malinowski, you just don’t miscommunicate when it comes to an important mission. So i think they may be seemingly working for the ’same boss’ but have different agendas and loyalties
- dharma/Widmore/abaddon people are very complex. We don’t know yet how they are all connected, but i think they have different agendas. Some clearly want Ben out, however some (potentially from the above mentioned groups) are sponsoring and protecting Ben and his mission. This explains the food drops, resources available to Ben after Dharma were killed, Ben knowing who Charlotte was etc. But it is not all black and white either: some want Ben out and some don’t as you have people inatraing other group’s camps to get inside information. There are a lot of shifting loyalties there - Miles is the prime example of that. These shifting/questionable loyalties is the reason why Ben does not trust people and give away information even to the ’seemingly good’ people because even these ‘good people’ can be manipulted by others and therefore cannot be trusted. Ben is confident only in his true allies, he refers to ‘my people’ etc. Ben also made a comment along the lines; what friends are for if you cannot trust them (refering to Hurley’s actions) highlighting the importance of true friends and true allies.
- I think that starting with the next episode we will be finding out more who is who in the dharma/widmore/abaddon/melinowski etc mix. What are their agendas (and hopefully why) as i belive they are differnet agendas with the most simplistic breakdown i can currently offer is those who want Ben out and those who support/sponsor him
- I also have a question for people who have a good understanding of the time differential theory. Did the last night’s episode support it? I thought that Kate’s mother didn’t age much (what would question the time difference theory i my mind)… What do you think?
- Dan playing cards: i thought they were tryign to see if the island had healing powers on Dan
- someone asked if Locke is a new Ben. yes! He is new Ben on the island and Ben has more things to handle outside the island in future so Locke is gradually taking the leading role among Losties while Richard is leading the ‘Others’; and both Richard and Locke and Ben have a relationship with Jacob

Have we been told that O6ers are only O6ers because they got settlements? Maybe they are called O6ers because the part of the lore.
Are you suggesting that the outside world doesn’t know where the adopted baby came from? Are you suggesting that the outside world thinks Kate birthed Aaron?
I’m just keeping with my old habits here that it IS still plausible that Kate had a baby an named him Aaron until it either confirmed otherwise in the show or by the producers.

Ben couldn’t be the sixth survivor, because he was never on the flight. And if he’s this rich, powerful man of mystery, he can come and go from the island as he pleases.
As to him having millions, it makes sense. Look at the houses on the island. How do they manage to have electricity, running water, the latest in kitchen appliances and things…it would take someone incredibly wealthy. We’re not done with Ben’s flashbacks, so something must have happened while he grew up that would explain it all.
I believe the baby is Aron. Kate is a criminal at heart, and my first thought was that she took him. But maybe something happens to Claire, or taking him off the island is the best thing for him.

they wanted character witnesses for kate. well…. taking over the mothering responsibilities for another place crash victim would be a GREAT character trait. if kate had made it known that she had ‘adopted’ aaron from claire she would have gotten major brownie points.
this was obviously NOT said… so i still think that she just claimed aaron as her own.

I pretty much read everything on this week’s blog but wonder why nobody brings up why Kate would want to leave the island if she’s “wanted”… unless this came up on other episodes. My thoughts are that she lied to Sawyer about not being pregnant and had to leave to save her life. Don’t women who get pregnant on the island die? The fact that baby’s name is Aaron is confusing though. Either it’s Claire’s or she named her baby after Aaron.

Kate’s post-island custody of Aaron raises some really interesting possibilities about the circumstances of their “rescue.” Was Aaron removed from the island because he is special? Was he “chosen” to leave the island by whoever orchestrated this huge lie? Did Claire choose to send him away from the island to keep him safe? Did Kate hide Aaron and smuggle him out to free him from the fate of those left behind?
What we do know is that the people left on the island are not there living a Utopian life. Charlie tells Hurley, “They need you,” and Ben refers to Sayid “helping his friends.” Jack’s desire to go back and Abbadon’s question, “Are they still alive?” may also refer to the other Losties being left to an unpleasant fate.
Comment 225, posted 1 year, 4 months ago - Quote and reply
I’m surprised that no one seems to talking about Jack’s testimony at Kate’s trial (and their related discussion while she was getting in the cab). Didn’t he say that only 8 people survived the plane crash onto the island? That has be the false story that he agreed to say as part of the settlement with Oceanic Airlines. The airline must want to cover up the death of the other passengers, or maybe the island’s existence.
So, is Oceanic Airlines the primary “bad guys”? Or, are just part of a much larger conspiracy?
If so, who is in charge? Penny’s father? Jack’s father?
Is Sayid, under Ben’s instruction, killing off the board of Oceanic Airlines?
How is the airline related to the Dharma initiative? The team of scientists and psychics obviously are related to Dharma.
There seems to be 2 warring factions: the Airline/ Dharma vs. Ben. Is one group led by by Penny’s father and the other by Jack’s father (in Jacob’s cabin)?
Questions, questions, and more questions!!!!

One of the things that I kept wondering about was why the DA insisted on Kate staying in the state for 10 years. Is this normal with probation? Kate’s lawyer seemed okay with the probation, but not with the 10 year in state restriction. Maybe the DA was working with Naomi & Else’s boss and by requiring Kate to stay in the state she ensures that Kate cannot help Ben and cannot return to the island??? Thoughts?

Wow, what an episode! I know some of you were unimpressed but not me. I’m in it for all I can get! Some thoughts:
*Jack told the court that they crashed in the south pacific: the location of the “found plane”, not necessarily where they really crashed. They wouldn’t go looking for bodies (someone suggested they would “dig up the beach”) because they would believe they already HAVE the bodies.
*Kate is/was pregnant. She is desperate to find out what is known about her (what is still in the news) so she would know if it was safe for her to leave (and not die as all preg women seem to do). That’s why she went to the trouble of getting Miles and Ben together, so she could get the info from Miles.
*Clair is alive. Charlie told Hurley “They need you”, I believe meaning Clair and Aaron, because that was who he died to try to save.
*Aaron is Clair’s baby, but not an O6er. Jack described the crash scene (even if he meant a second crash, the people would believe he meant the first) by saying that Kate saved the first 6 (which would be 5 others and herself) and tried to save the other two but….(he shook his head no). If Aaron had been born at that time, he would have been on the manifest. He wasn’t. He wasn’t one of the ones who needed to be saved at that time.
*Kate’s mom said some version of “It’s been 4 years since I thought you were dead”, meaning since the crash.
*If Aaron’s age looks wrong for being Kate’s born on the island, maybe because he was born on “island time”, his growth is affected. Kate wants to protect him from the inevitable research etc. that would follow.
*Kate couldn’t just keep Aaron/adopt him. If it is known that he was “adopted”, Clair’s family would want to claim him. Yes her mom was in a coma last we saw, but her aunt would want him for sure, especially if she thought he was all that was left of Clair.
*Kate is desperate to “stay put”, as evidenced by her jumping on the offer of 10 years probation and an inability to leave the state, even though her lawyer seemed likely to get a better deal. She may not want to have to give Aaron back to Clair now that she feels all maternal and is happy at the thought of being unable to go ANYWHERE let alone back to the island.
*Ben told Locke way back when that he is special because he was born on the island - he implied that that was why the others followed him (of course, he lied), but Aaron REALLY WAS born on the island and would therefore, REALLY BE “special”. We’ll have to wait and see how.
Whew! That was a lot. Any thoughts?

Many posters are lumping in Oceanic Airlines with Dharma or other groups. I don’t think Oceanic had anything to do with the island or any other groups, certainly not until after 815 crashed-the crash was clearly an ACCIDENT caused by the magnetic field being released due to the late pushing of the buttons by Kelvin/Desmond. After the crash, one of the powerful groups may have manipulated Oceanic into going along with whatever lies are being told to cover up the island. But originally, Oceanic seemed to be a company on the up and up.

I tend to agree with that, I really don’t think she would be able to adopt a baby while she’s a fugitive.
So it’s either she took the baby and it’s they lied that the baby is hers or it’s Kate’s baby then …right?
Yes, and though I still believe Kate is/was pregnant, this is Claire’s baby.

Clearly Kate’s Aaron (I heard Eric, but I’ll go with Aaron) was either Kate’s child or she pretended he was her biological child. No court would uphold a person of Kate’s background as a guardian/parent of the child. And since if he was born to a survivor of the crash, he would presumably have a settlement in his own right; many people would contend to become his guardian. His biological father would have first rights, then his and Claire’s relatives.

or, claire is part of the O6 and something happens to her OFF THE ISLAND that leads her to legally have kate adopt her baby

I noticed a possible contradiction. When on the stand, Jack said the plan crashed landed on an island in the South Pacific. But the news reports we saw said the plane was intact in a trench on the ocean floor. What’s up?

OR…Kate did if fact “take” Claire’s baby and claim it as her own, which is what I believe.

Will (I think this is the owner of the blog),
I have a thought regarding the various theories that keep surfacing (coffin, “man on the boat,” Aaron’s biology, who is part of the O6): perhaps you could put up a series of POLLS, so that people can CLICK on their theories rather than continue to post about them?
Except for posts responding to questions about events that took place on the air, in front of the cameras, all of the posts are THEORIES, right? (And if they are not - if someone is getting spoilers from somewhere, they ought not be here, right?) I love the discussions about why THIS theory makes sense, or the reasons behind THAT theory, but when in less than fifteen hours after the east coast airing of the episode, there are already 240+ comments, we all KNOW that most people (who didn’t start reading as soon as the show was over) aren’t going to even TRY to read all the posts before they comment! A series of polls might give those who just want to share that they agree with one of the theories already provided, a chance to do so without clogging up the boards.
Just a suggestion, do with it as you please *g*.

first time poster - long time watcher
question - in one of the previous “review” episodes, I thought there were forty-some survivors of Oceanic Flt 815. Why is everyone saying 8 survivors?
I think that’s what Jack said on the stand - and it’s a lie.
so the real question is - what happened to the other 40-some survivors?

PJSander: I read EVERY SINGLE POST before posting myself (and ended up with a first post of #232) and I believe that most people do read them all. Some obviously don’t, but the whole thing is suppose to be fun. Rule number one instructs posters to read everything first and to avoid repeats, but sometimes a second/third/fourth discussion HAS TO take place. If a comment sounds like someone didn’t read first, lets try to ignore it and remember that that blogger is trying to have fun with this too.

Not only that, but the “Sunda Trench” is technically in the Indian Ocean, I believe, not the Pacific. How does that get explained?

One thing has been bothering me: During cross examination, the prosecutor asks Jack, “Do you love the defendant?” Jack says, “No, not anymore,” almost as though the public had a reason to believe that he DID love her at some point. Maybe part of the cover story is that Jack got Kate pregnant on the island? This would have been a way to further conceal Aaron’s identity, and it would explain why Kate wants Jack to visit Aaron–to keep up the charade.
Here’s a thought: What if Claire IS one of the Oceanic 6, but she wants to conceal Aaron’s identity to keep him safe? Maybe Claire and Aaron both escaped, but she has asked Kate to pretend he is her biological son. The O6 may have been stranded on the island for months (or even years, depending on the time discrepancy) before being rescued, so there may have been plenty of time for Kate to get pregnant and give birth. If Claire pretends she lost her baby, maybe nobody will come looking for Aaron.

This is an excellent suggestion and would perhaps cut down on a lot of the repitiveness. Everyone is entitled to post but I think there is so much of the same thing, b/c ppl DON’T have time to go through 200+ comments in less than 24 hrs, but next Thurs, there will be over 500 for sure. Just support on the suggestion.

Maybe when Etahn kidnapped Claire and took samples he use those samples to impregnate Kate. Remember when Kate was at breakfast with Ben he siad “the next few days are going to be very unpleasant”. He needed Kate to preform fertility tests and need someone who got pregnant off the island(Claire) to get the samples. And then when Kate saw Jack in the Hydra she broke down when he asked what they did to her. So a piece of Kate’s baby, (who got pregnant on the island by injection from samples from Claire but apparantly gave birth off the island, is actually Aaron.

So now that we know about the time differential (31 minutes from the rocket, Dharma polar bear fossil, the Orchid video with rabbit #15, etc), this brings up some interesting new theories. When Desmond turned the fail-safe key, he traveled back in time to the point when he was meeting with Penny’s dad, right? So maybe Widmore somehow knew at that point what was going on and could tell that Desmond was having memories from the island. He could’ve then set everything in motion with the boat race.
This could explain why Naomi has Desmond’s picture of Penny and also why Naomi asked Abbadon about finding 815 survivors. Somehow they all know some of the secrets of the island. Penny has discovered some of these things through her father and/or her father’s employees and now has her own team looking for the same things. How else would she know what frequency to be on when Charlie broke through?
