I always imagined that the symbols were more important than their translation. Maybe they're a failsafe code of some sort to be activated in an emergency, as in no one pushes the button, up pops "bird reed squiggle" on the counter and the experimenters have to enter it to rest the experiment/turn off the monster/what have you.

If it's true, then there's another entry pad or a numerical code book we haven't seen yet that translates the symbols. I'm curious whether henry (if he was telling the truth at all) saw the same set of symbols. This is, of course, way out there.

What I'm wondering is why the message "prepare to die" is written in hieroglyphics if it is meant to be read and understood by the person/s in the hatch. I really don't think egyptians built the island so the logical thing would be for the message to be written in english if it was meant to communicate with the persons in the hatch.

The TV Guide checked out the hieroglyphics with museums and found the meaning to be "Prepare to die".

Reading the posts in the 'Do you belive in Fate" thread has crystalized some of my own thoughts about the meaning of the pre-crash connections of our main characters… specifically, what if this interconnectedness is not part of any human “master plan,” but truly a manifestation of Fate?
The Hanso Foundation and its DHARMA Initiative may (almost certainly DOES) have a long range plan or goal, and may have caused the crash of Flight 815 to further these plans/goals, but it’s the designs of Fate that have brought this specific group together. It’s this group, and thier specific connections/strengths/weakenesses/whatever that will lead to the downfall of the DHARMA Initiative (or maybe to its fullfillment). Fate is the wild card, the X-factor, that the humans of the D.I. can’t control.

“Man proposes, God disposes.”

On a related note, I just can’t believe any human agency could cause the kind of plane wreck we witnessed (and we did witness the plane breaking up) and be able to control who, if anyone, survived. If that’s what turns out to have happened, then we’ve moved into the realm of the supernatural. So far, nothing that’s happened can’t be explained in a rational, scientific way (although the black smoke of the presumed Cerberus system skirts it, perhaps).

Waouh, I've just seen the Dave episode, I really think it's the best one in season two for now.
Actually, I think this is the most frightening episode in season 2. I totally thought Dave was real (crasy sleeper !!!!) until the doctor shwos the picture ... this was really really scary !

There was also a lot of suspense cause I really believed that Hurley could have committed suicide, you know this would have been mindblowing !

I totally agree with the personn who said Henri told the truth when he said nothing happenned with the hatch : this looks too obvious that we are expected to think he's lying !
I am guessing Henri could become an ally soon, thanks to Locke. Anyway I am sure the whole cliffhanger will be about Henri, and the hatch exploding, and the others incoming.

I am really hooked to this show, this is my favorite show ever (after 24 and Friends of course ...), but it's definitely better than X-files.

See u !

Wolvy: Someone else brought up the "nurse is Alex" idea elsewhere, and I agree with you, they look nothing alike (and it wouldn't make sense for the storyline, since in the flashback, Alex's age would be 5 or less, most likely). Confirmed with actress credits (though I'm not sure why it needed to be... the two just are very dissimilar). IMHO, "Dave" was an episode with few Easter Eggs, and people are stretching a bit to find stuff that may not be there.
