Last week we were left with the thought that one of the survivors of Flight 815, specifically those that Jacob had been in contact with, was recruited to replace Jacob as “protector” of the Island. Evil Locke advised Sawyer of three options:
1) Do nothing, seemingly at the risk of being killed and having your name crossed off the wall
2) Take Jacob’s place as Island protector
3) Leave the Island for good (the Evil one is keen on this, probably not indicative of the best choice)
So, who do we think is the chosen one? Tonight’s episode is Jack-centric, which means it will be great, but Jack is probably too convenient of an option for the Island protector. What are your thoughts?
Episode Description:
“Hurley must convince Jack to accompany him on an unspecified mission, and Jin stumbles across an old friend”
Last week ended with the re-emergence of Claire, and at this point it’s difficult to determine what direction/role her character may take. Jack was told that she experienced some type of infection, comparable to what Sayid is now said to be suffering from.
Tonight’s episode will be Locke-centric, which means we should get a good dose of “evil” Locke, as well as some additional backstory on what is happening with Locke in the alternate timeline. Clearly the first episode of this season set-up the liklihood that Locke will seek out Jack to potentially evaluate his spinal condition to determine if there is a way he can walk again.
Episode Description:
“Locke goes in search of help to further his cause”
The premiere from last week proved to perpetuate the same theme that most Lost season-starters have done in years past – provide half-answers to a few questions and create a ton of new ones. It would seem this season will lead us on two distinct paths – the path where detonating the hydrogen bomb “worked” in that it prevented Flight 815 from crashing. Path two will be back on the Island, where all of our favorite characters are now in the same timeline and some type of huge conflict is looming. It will be interesting to see how the paths converge and which reality represents a better existence for all involved.
Tonight’s episode will be Kate-centric, as indicated by the description and preview below:
Official Description:
“Kate finds herself on the run; Jack must do something that may endanger a friend’s life”
The premiere of Lost tonight, in its 6th and final season, includes three hours of entertainment beginning at 8 PM EST. Hour 1 will effectively be a recap, the kind that we have grown accustomed to over the years, to refresh our memories on the peril in which our favorite characters will find themselves in at the beginning of Episode 1, which starts at 9 PM. Due to the WGA strike from two years ago, we’ll get two additional hours this season, in the form of a two hour premiere and what I presume will be a two hour finale. So, given we’ll get two full hours of new material tonight and Lost’s tendency to start of each season with a “bang”, tonight should prove to be fantastic even if the official show description does not give us much insight:
Episode 1 Official Show Description: LA X – Parts 1 & 2
“The aftermath from Juliet’s detonation of the hydrogen bomb is revealed.”
So, circling back from the finale last year, we know that Juliet detonated Jughead (the H bomb) and that as a result of that event something cataclysmic will happen. Further, “evil” Locke has emerged as an even more formidable force after seemingly murdering Jacob. Clearly, there are a lot of different places the show could take us tonight, but if the title has any meaning, it is quite obvious that at least a portion of tonight’s premiere will take place on, or surrounding, Flight 815.
Did the detonation of the Jughead change the past? Given what we know from the show that is unlikely, but not impossible. More likely is that the detonation of the bomb pushes our characters back into their most appropriate timeline where things should get interesting given Locke’s current state of being.
Tons of spoilers are already circulating – the entire first hour of the premiere was leaked to YouTube yesterday. You can view some episode previews below, but please keep the spoiler discussion to a minimum. Enjoy!
