Lost TV Series News and Theories

Find815.com – Chapter 5 Conclusion Video

2 years, 7 months ago by Will

After successfully completing the last activity, this is the video you get:

It is quite interesting, for a couple reasons:

1) This helps us understand the comment Naomi made when she reached the Island in Season 3 – namely that Oceanic 815 (or what was thought to be it) was found

2) It is pretty clear at this point that the Maxwell Group is a function of Widmore and that some elaborate cover up was hatched

Overall, I think the ARG definitely helped make this last month go by much faster and hopefully we will continue to see more initiatives like this over the next 3 years.

Excitement surrounding Tonight’s Lost Season 4 Premiere

2 years, 7 months ago by Nick

There’s no shortage of media coverage surrounding tonight’s premiere. You would have to being living under the Black Rock to not know that Lost Season 4 debuts tonight. To tide us over for the rest of the day, since we are obviously too excited to focus on anything else, here’s a list of links to keep us busy while we wait. We thank all of our fellow Lost fans who sent some of these in.

Potential Spoiler Warning

  • USA TODAY gives tonight’s episode 4 out of 4 stars in their review: ‘Lost’ rescues a TV season that’s adrift.

Returning with a heart-stopping, perfectly pitched episode that fulfills all the promise of last season’s stunner of a finale, Lost is an oasis in a strike-parched TV desert.

  • AOL Television did a “‘Lost’ A to Z Guide” – 26 reasons why season 4 will be pretty interesting. Thanks Andie
  • ToeKnee found a few preview articles that are worth repeating here: ‘Lost’ finds new ways to intrigue from the Boston Globe and one from nj.com here: Sepinwall on TV: ‘Lost’ season four review
  • Here’s a video interview with Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet) on redlasso.com from this morning on the CW 11 New York Morning Show
  • This interview with Michael Emerson (Ben) is a good one. He describes the character of Ben here:

He’s certainly an antagonist. He certainly makes things happen. He provokes behavior in the part of others and his methods are mysterious and frightening. We fear Ben because we fear the unknown. If his agenda were more clear, we might feel differently about him. I think a day will come, and maybe I flatter myself here, when we see more clearly what his sight is, who his enemies are, and we may decide he’s a more heroic character than we thought previously

  • Finally, you can listen to a podcast interview Matthew Fox from Australian radio station Triple M. It’s broken into 3 parts. Thanks Jason

Enjoy, see you all in the comments tonight!

The Beginning of the End

Jack - Lost Season 4 premiere

Eight agonizing months later and Lost finally premieres with Season 4 – Episode 1, most appropriately titled “The Beginning of the End”. This episode marks the turning point for the entire series; we will now be counting down from 48 to the conclusion of the show (hence the title of this episode). We will get answers to the myriad questions that are still out there, and I am positive a few more questions will come up along the way. ABC’s official show description:

Warning, possible spoilers!

“Feeling that their rescue is close at hand, the survivors don’t know whether to believe Charlie’s final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets…”

It is difficult to tell based on the information that is out there how the series will play itself out moving forward. My basic understanding is that there will be few episodes where only one character is the central figure, flash forward vs. flash back, etc. I think it is safe to say that Jack will play a fairly large role in this initial episode. Further, I believe you can expect the show to build immediate steam this year, as opposed to dragging along in any capacity or introducing pointless new characters. We know our beloved characters get off the Island – now we get to see how.

Find815.com Update – Chapter 5 – January 30th, 2008

2 years, 7 months ago by Will

Since the last update we now have access to a new website (OceanForecasts.com), a few emails, a clue hunt (which reveals that Sonya is somehow trying to communicate with Sam), and finally Sam’s diary where he lets us know that they’ve found the Black Rock, but that the weather is preventing further exploration:

One activity left, updates tomorrow prior to the premiere!

Find815.com Update – Chapter 5

Tonight’s update included two new videos, one of which is made available after the completion of the first of two activities in this chapter (the second of which is not yet available), where you have to navigate the ship through some reef (basically a maze) to reach the proper coordinates, utilizing the arrow keys on your keyboard.

The videos lead us to believe that Sam and Ockham have found Black Rock, despite Talbot trying to intervene:

Lost Missing Pieces: “So It Begins”

2 years, 7 months ago by Will

Obviously most of my attention has been diverted to Find815.com, but what better way to conclude the Missing Pieces mobisodes just how they started, featuring Christian Shepherd. Only one problem – this time he is having a conversation… with Vincent (yes, the dog)… on the Island, just after the initial crash of Flight 815 and prior to Jack awakening.

Given the various comments Lindelof and Cuse have made related to Jack’s father, I am not 100% sure what to take from this. It either reinforces the Island’s ability to severely distort reality or perhaps is intended as a misdirection for us leading into Season 4. I am interested in getting your thoughts.

*ABC Ties Up with Marvel Comics to Push “Lost”:

In a bid to create further excitement showfor Lost, ABC has announced a mash-up with Marvel Comics. You can discover elements from the show in a number of Marvel Comics titles. ABC marketing has strategically placed images and references from the show in various comic books, including Uncanny X-Men, Incredible Hercules, Thunderbolts and Wolverine Origins. It is interesting to note that some of them promote Find815.com, while others give reference to Jack and the other characters being found.

*Season Premiere Official ABC.com Description:

We will drop this again on Thursday, with the preview post for the Season 4 Premiere, but thought some of you might find it interesting -

Feeling that their rescue is close at hand, the survivors don’t know whether to believe Charlie’s final message that the people claiming to liberate them are not who they seem to be. The band of friends, family, enemies and strangers must continue to work together against the cruel weather and harsh terrain if they want to stay alive. But as they have discovered during their 70-plus days on the island, danger and mystery loom behind every corner, and those they thought could be trusted may turn against them. Even heroes have secrets…

Less than 100 hours until “The Beginning of the End”…

Find815.com Update – Conclusion of Chapter 4

2 years, 7 months ago by Will

Sam’s Video Diary wraps Chapter 4 up nicely, setting us up for Chapter 5 and finally, the Season 4 Premiere of Lost:

There were a number of clues that gave reference to the natural phenomena known as the Aurora Australis (the green lights that Sam sees on the horizon from the ship deck), which Sam noticed prior to the Clue Hunt:

Given that this is caused by the collision of plasma particles and magnetic forces, I would say that Sam is close to his final destination. I am anxious to see how Find815.com wraps into the premiere, as it has been rumored at least one of the characters from this ARG will appear in Season 4… Chapter 5 should be interesting.

Lost featured in USA Today

Claire and other Losties

Yesterday, USA Today’s Life section had a large feature on Lost and the upcoming season. There’s a pretty cool “Where are we?” section at the top of the page that outlines the 12 key characters on the show.

The are a few quotes from cast members in the article including this one from Sun (Yunjin Kim):

“We’re all going to be disappointed that there are only eight instead of 16, but the eight episodes are amazing, and I think fans will be very satisfied.” She continues, “I feel like this season all the episodes are self-contained. The speed of the story is faster. Each episode contains a question and an answer, finally. So there’s a lot of satisfaction.”

Find815.com Update – Chapter 4 – January 22nd

2 years, 7 months ago by Will

The initial game posted for Chapter 4 (the plotter hack) was somewhat difficult, as most of you know, but I was able to get through it in about 3 tries… The video is below, and there was also a new voicemail and a couple of emails:

Find 815 is definitely starting to heat up, as the dialogue between Talbot and Sam grows increasingly contentious. It will be interesting to see how this plays out moving into the Season premiere.
