I am reposting this video because I think there is enough here to merit comments. This could be a self-parody, or it may appear in Season 4 at some point (thanks Hammer), but I think it’s more legit than not given that ABC.com has also posted it. Mentions of cloning, time-shifting, Jacob and a gorilla on a bicycle… I am getting excited for Season 4!
-Lost Video Game trailer was released; you can view the video here:
-The game looks pretty cool, and there should be additional in-game footage released soon.
“The sense of adventure and suspense that we strive for in the show is also captured in the Lost video game,” said Lindelof and Cuse. “Ubisoft has done a fantastic job and come up with a game that is visually amazing and imaginative both on its own and as an extension of the world of the show.”
Players will assume the role of a passenger on the ill-fated Oceanic flight 815 who survives the crash and is stranded on the uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean. As the player begins to unravel mysteries of the island, new secrets about your character are revealed. Players will have to understand their character’s past mistakes in order to survive and find their way home.
The game will incorporate familiar locations and will feature main characters from the show. Gameplay will involve solving puzzles, outsmarting enemies, battling the smoke monster, and overcoming many other challenges to survive the island and ultimately come out alive.
-ABC launches Lost online in High Definition:
But the improvement we’re most excited about is the addition of the new HD channel! It’s currently a beta release and there are some minimum computer requirements you’ll need to satisfy to get the best experience (those requirements are listed in the player). But, if you do, the quality is really superb and hopefully it’s a big enough sampling of your favorite shows to keep you excited as we wait for the new Fall season (there are some really cool new shows on the way).
After numerous jokes and a few poor questions from the audience, here is the note-worthy stuff:
*Confirmed Michael’s return (duh!) but would not elaborate any further on how or when that would be in Season 4
*We will be seeing more flash-forwards and flashbacks
*Jack and Claire will realize they are siblings in Season 4
*Ben was accidentally captured by Rousseau and we will find out why/how soon
*What we saw with Jack and Kate was not the end of the show, says Lindelof “The show has never really been about getting off the Island. There is this whole chapter of the story that takes place off the Island”
*Harold Perrineau shows up and discusses his character, acknowledges that he will again be a “regular” on the show, confirms that we will be seeing him earlier in Season 4
*We could potentially get another TLE during the hiatus between Season 4 & Season 5
*It is confirmed that the Richard Alpert character may not appear at all next season, or if so, probably in a limited fashion. Makes sense given the actor has committed to another show at this point
*We will get Libby’s story this year, it will not be disappointing, and it was hinted at that she may have worked for DHARMA
*Panel was concluded with a DHARMA video that is posted below.
According to ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson, and after a lot of pressure from the critics in the audience, Harold Perrineau is returning to the show as Michael. According to this article, the news was supposed to be saved for ComiCon, but fanboy pressure prevailed.
ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson didn’t offer any details Wednesday of what’s in store for Michael. He also didn’t say whether Walt, the son played by Malcolm David Kelley, will be seen again.
So for everyone who’s been suffering separation anxiety from missing Michael and Walt, cheers to you. Although we don’t know when we will find out what happened to them, or if Walt will be back also, I’m ready to hear the story. So, according to Lost time, it’s been roughly 4-6 weeks since Michael and Walt left in the boat, I think.

The next obvious question is not if Lost got the shaft again, but really what was the severity of it this year? Glaringly obvious to me is that Heroes got the nod for Outstanding Dramatic Series over Lost. What are your thoughts?
I am using this post to list a few books you may want to read during the hiatus (if you have not already). Please feel free to contribute your thoughts about previous readings and make your own recommendations:
Flashforward
A science experiment that unwittingly shuts down all human consciousness for two minutes is the catalyst for a creative exploration of fate, free will and the nature of the universe in Sawyer’s soul-searching new work (after Factoring Humanity). In April 2009, Lloyd and Theo, two scientists at the European Organization for Particle Physics (CERN), run an experiment that accidentally transports the world’s consciousness 20 years into the future. When humanity reawakens a moment later, chaos rules. Vehicles whose drivers passed out plow into one another; people fall or maim themselves. But that’s just the beginning. After the horror is sorted out, each character tries desperately to ensure or avoid his or her future. Trapped by his guilt for causing so much destruction and driven by a need to rationalize, Lloyd tries to prove that free will is a myth. Theo discovers that he will be murdered and begins to hunt down his killerAtempting fate as in the Greek dramas of his ancestors. Some people start on their appointed roads early, others give up on life because of what they’ve seen. Using a third-person omniscient narrator, Sawyer shifts seamlessly among the perspectives of his many characters, anchoring the story in small details. This first-rate, philosophical journey, a terrific example of idea-driven SF, should have wide appeal.
Set on the island of Ponape, full of ruins from ancient civilizations, the novel chronicles the adventures of a party of explorers who discover a previously unknown underground world full of strange peoples and super-scientific wonders. From the depths of this world, the party unwittingly unleashes the Dweller, a monstrous terror that threatens the islands of the South Pacific. Although Merritt did not invent the lost world novel, following in the footsteps of Jules Verne, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Burroughs and others, he greatly elaborated upon that tradition.
Miracles, viruses, plane crashes and acts of terror perpetrated by a group of Others. This is the perplexing and radical world created by J.J. Abrams in his hit television show, LOST. Joley Wood, with wit and insight, explores the show’ss quirky details, and argues for an idea as weird as the show itself: That we’re all stuck on the island.
This book is a little dated, but if you have read J Wood’s blog then you know this book is definitely full of insight.
Here is a link to another great resource related to all of the books that have been alluded to or specifically referenced in Lost. What other books would you recommend? Thoughts about those you have read already because of the show?
Comic-Con 2007 - Things are picking up a little moving into the final announcement of the Emmy nominations later this month, and more specifically, Comic-Con where Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse will discuss the Season 3 finale of Lost and how that will impact the story-telling moving forward, Season 4, preview the Lost Video game and give more specifics on the Season 3 DVD!
Lost Season 4—If the Lost finale was any indication of things to come, you will not want to miss this panel! Co-creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse will discuss the exciting new season of ABC’s Lost, all leading up to the ultimate series finale. They’ll spotlight bonus features from the 3rd season DVD box set, preview the new Lost video game, take questions from the audience, and perhaps serve up more surprises.
Over here at the TV show “Lost,” we’ve announced our grand finale 48 short episodes from now. Shockingly, the pundits have already announced that they pre-hate it. The prevailing sentiment seems to be that our ending will be either too wacky to make sense or too anticlimactic to have justified the six seasons preceding it.
Ultimate Wolverine vs. Hulk - And when Damon isn’t busy writing about killing off Harry Potter, he is finishing up some heavily anticipated comic book scripts
William Mapother Interview - Buddy TV scored an interview with none Other than Ethan. Seems like a pretty good guy, Notre Dame grad, decent story about getting the Lost gig at the last minute, but ultimately reinforces the mushroom strategy employed by the Lost producers with most of the bit characters (Keep them in the dark and feed them a lot of…)
In an effort to keep some of you Lost Bloggers engaged over the long haul of our “Lost” wait, J.J Abrams is at it again with his new Cloverfield Project movie. If you have seen Transformers, there was a special trailer attached to it and you can find it on YouTube and Google Video, but Paramount has been pretty big on preventing the rips from staying up too long.
Nevertheless, this is what I get from what I have been able to see:
*The movie is going to be in a “Blair Witch Project” type format, but much larger budget… Meaning, taken from a first-person camcorder perspective, but the special effects look pretty cool
*A number of people are deeming it “Godzilla” meets the BWP, but it is difficult to tell from the trailer what exactly is going on other than mass terror and destruction
and then this site, which seems to be the first viral site for the movie in a TLE sort of vain
http://www.ethanhaaswasright.com/ - This is a flash-based, puzzle-filled site and I’m already somewhat addicted to trying to find the hidden videos. Basically, you figure out a puzzle and get another video, but I’ve only gotten one video deep at this point.
I know this is the Lost Blog, but this is a Abrams project and it is pretty cool, so let’s use this post to add any knowledge about the movie.
-Kristin from E! Online is reporting that there will be at least one new character cast for Season 4 and that no official word has been released yet about Harold Perrineau coming back.
And finally, have a happy and safe July 4th to those Lost Blog readers in the US!
