A new edition of the official Lost podcast with executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse has been released.

No actor interviews in this one, but the producers discuss last week’s episode D.O.C. Highlights include:

  • Sun’s deal with her father
  • Parachute Woman – Although her name was revealed in the abc.com episode guide, D&C confirmed that it is Naomi Doret. Not sure about that spelling, it’s pronounced “Door – it”
  • Purgatory Theory. Did D&C lie? They say no and discuss a few other theories.

There also some discussion about next week’s episode “The Brig”.

Possible spoilers in the podcast

Here’s some news surrounding the world of Lost this week.

Lost Ratings Climb

As Season 3 is approaching the finale, viewers and ratings are climbing. The traffic on this site soared Thursday morning causing an outage. We are actively working on preventing that again.

At 10 p.m., CBS’ “CSI: NY” led in households with a 7.7/13, but a new “Lost,” 7.2/12, had about 450,000 more total viewers. “Medium” posted a 4.8/8 for NBC

Even the 9pm repeat took 4th place (via Zap2it)

Reuters is reporting the DVR recordings of Lost are adding 2.5 million viewers.

Actor News

In other ratings jumps, Evangeline Lilly saw a jump in FHM from last year’s #73 spot to #35.

It has been confirmed Matthew Fox will play Racer X in the Wachowski brother’s adaptation of Speed Racer. There’s been lots of chatter around the web about this, including this site. He joins Kick Gurry, Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman in the cast.

Finally, a small interview with Henry Ian Cusick regarding his alter ego Desmond, and his life prior to joining Lost.

D.O.C.

3 years, 4 months ago by Nick

Sun on Lost

Tonight’s episode looks to focus on Sun and what effects the island may have on her pregnancy; based on what has already happened to Claire and with Juliet in the picture, things should get interesting in this week’s Lost episode “D.O.C.”

Also, we will find out more about the mysterious parachutist, what her connection to Desmond is, and what her role will be.

Caution, spoilers!

The April 20th podcast told us that we will find out who the real father of Sun’s baby is, and it was revealed that D.O.C. is the acronym for Date of Conception. The last few episodes have spent considerable time making us aware that pregnancy on the island is fatal, with the lone exception being Claire.

Here’s the official description from abc.com for the new Lost episode “D.O.C.”

“D.O.C” – After discovering that all of “The Others’” pregnant women died before giving birth on the island, an extremely reticent Sun allows Juliet to examine her — and uncovers the identity of the unborn child’s father. Meanwhile, Desmond allows an unlikely nemesis to help save the life of a new, mysterious island inhabitant. “Lost” Wednesday, April 25 at 10/9c on the ABC television network.

Here are the latest links related to Lost.

  • Lost Video Game – Damon and Carlton commented about this in the most recent podcast, but it looks like the video game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal (these guys worked on the Splinter Cell series) for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC platforms. A definitive release date has not yet been announced, but it should be this calendar year.
  • Entertainment Weekly – EW recently did a piece on the ratings decline, the decision to off Nikki and Paulo, and what would make for a suitable time to end the show. There are a few spoilers in the article, but it is a good read.

Introduction

3 years, 4 months ago by Will

First and foremost, I would like to apologize for the downtime the site has experienced over the past few days. The primary “goal” in transferring the hosting of the site was to minimize the disruption of service, and hopefully we did not alienate any of you in the process. So, even though the first couple of days have been rocky, we are really excited.

We understand there are big shoes to fill to taking over an effort that Andreas, and the contributors to this site (i.e. YOU), have put a lot of intelligent effort into. My name is Will McIntosh and I have been a fan of Lost since its inception, and in the process have followed this blog for quite sometime. When it became clear that Andreas was looking to sell the website to focus on his future career, I became interested for a couple of reasons:

  • The readership is quite impressive
  • The intelligent conversation that takes place amongst the individuals that participate in the dialogue associated with Andreas’ posts is second to none in the world of Lost websites
  • The format that Andreas has created (site design, providing before and after commentary on episodes, following the tangential paths of the actors and actresses, facilitating conversation, etc.) works quite well

Most Importantly

It would have been disappointing to have seen someone else purchase the blog and take it in a totally different direction. I will not be managing this site alone (hence the “we” references above), and will have the help of a few of my friends that are similarly passionate about Lost and who can positively contribute to the collective effort.

Much like Andreas, we will not use this website to overtly spoil anything that is going to be happening in the coming weeks related to Lost, as there are plenty of those sites out there, and when we do reference any type of “spoiler” information, we will mark it accordingly.

I wish the best of luck to Andreas and hopefully he will contribute when he has time; and I also thank you for your past and (hopefully) future participation.

Will

Farewell my friends

3 years, 4 months ago by Andreas

I started The Lost Blog back in December 2005 to write about one of the best shows in television history. Over 400 posts later, it is time for me to move on to new adventures.

It is amazing to look back and see how much the site has grown in both size, popularity and quality during the last year and a half.

A big part of what makes the site so great is the intelligent discussions in the comments. The site wouldn’t be the same without you guys, and neither would I. This site and the discussions we have had will forever be a part of me.

I would also like to thank those of you who have contributed with posts, and in particular Cecilia who not only wrote over 120 posts during her time as a regular contributor, but also helped out in a lot of other ways and was of great support.

The site has been sold to a bunch of great guys who I’m very confident will do a great job running the site. I would like to welcome the new owners, The Widmore Corporation! Haha, just kidding. The new owners will introduce themselves in the next post.

Last minute predictions

I couldn’t possibly leave without a few last minute predictions about the future of Lost so here we go:

  • Locke’s father, Anthony Cooper, is the real Sawyer.
  • Desmond is the most important character of them all.
  • Adam and Eve will turn out to be Jack and Kate, or possibly Desmond and Penny.
  • Jacob will turn out to be someone we have seen before.
  • Juliet won’t be able to go through with whatever plans Ben had when he sent her to the beach.
  • The island is or was protected by a sphere-like electromagnetic shield and is either hidden in Antarctica or is constantly moving.

So what should I do now? Whatever comes next

I’m still a big Lost fan, but I realized that if I want to reach my goal of becoming a movie director, I need to focus 110% on that goal and work very, very hard. However, it is not without at least a little regret that I leave. I will miss running this site and I will miss you guys.

Look for the title “Directed by Andreas Climent” on movie posters in about 5-10 years.

If you want to get in touch with me, I can be found at my personal site.

The Lost Blog has now officially been sold and it’s time for me to bid you all a very fond farewell. At least for now.

Server move

3 years, 4 months ago by Andreas

There is no need to worry, we haven’t been hacked, abducted by aliens or anything like that. The site was just moved to a new server and unfortunately we couldn’t avoid a little downtime.

A few comments might have been lost during the move, and if that is the case, we apologize. Other than that everything should be back to normal.

Oh, and the permalinks don’t work yet, but we’re working on it!

Matthew Fox to star in Speed Racer?

3 years, 4 months ago by Andreas

Matthew Fox

Is Lost’s captain Jack going to star in the next project from Matrix creators Larry and Andy Wachowski? It is being reported that Matthew Fox is in final negotiations to play the role of the mysterious villain “Racer X” in “Speed Racer”.

The movie, which is a live action adaptation of an animated series from the 60s will be shot in Berlin this summer.

As a pretty big fan of both The Matrix and V for Vendetta, I’m really looking forward to see the Wachowski vision of “Speed Racer”. I don’t know much about the character Matthew would be playing, but it will be cool to see him portraying a villain.

Update: Apparently Racer X isn’t a villain, but either way I think it can be an interesting character to see Matthew portray.

Catch 22

3 years, 4 months ago by Andreas

Desmond Hume on Lost

It’s the best day of the week again and personally I couldn’t be happier – tonight’s new Lost episode “Catch 22″ focuses on Desmond and one of his “flashes” from the future.

The last Desmond-centric episode “Flashes before your eyes” really played with the concept of non-linear time and free will versus determinism so it will be interesting to see if this episode reveals more about Desmond’s strange ability, or “lame super-power” as Hurley would put it.

Someone else with extraordinary abilities is the new manipulator in the beach camp. With Juliet around, things are bound to get interesting…

This is the official description of “Catch 22″:

Warning, spoilers!

“Catch-22″ – Desmond coaxes Charlie, Hurley and Jin on a trek across the jungle after experiencing one of his future-prophesizing “flashes” — but is he purposely placing Charlie’s life in harm’s way? Meanwhile, Kate turns to an unwitting Sawyer after seeing Jack alone with Juliet, on “Lost,” WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18 (10:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.
