There is a pretty nice interview with Damon Lindelof over at Wizard Universe.
In the interview, Damon talks about the first part of Season 3, explains a bit about Nikki and Paulo as well as The Others and hints at what we can expect from the second half of the season.
WIZARD: The first six-episode mini-season is over. Did you guys accomplish what you set out to accomplish with it?
LINDELOF: I think that in many ways, yes, and in many ways we wish that we could’ve done more. Our über-goal in the first six episodes was to really begin to set up the mega-story of the season, which is who the Others are and what they want and why they took Kate [Evangeline Lilly], Jack [Matthew Fox] and Sawyer [Josh Holloway]. I think that we at least answered the third question. We feel that we told that story fairly compellingly and well.
The interview is a bit revealing, but I don’t think Damon would reveal anything crucial so don’t worry about major spoilers.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas everyone!
I want to thank you for all the support and all the interesting Lost discussions we’ve had this year. I hope to keep seeing everyone on the site as we start discussing the second part of Lost Season 3.
Merry Christmas to the cast and crew of Lost. Hope Evangeline and her roommates have found a new place to stay and that they are able to enjoy the holidays.
I want to thank Cecilia for everything she has done for The Lost Blog throughout the year, from covering for me during the summer to writing posts and helping to organize competitions.
I will take a short break from the site, but if there is anything important related to Lost, count on us to write about it. Now I’m going to eat rice pudding, watch Donald Duck on TV, eat too much food and open presents, because that’s what we do for Christmas in Sweden.
Happy Holidays everyone!

While The Lost Blog is fairly popular and has a great bunch of regular readers, when it comes to visitor amounts we are still quite a bit behind sites like Lost-media and The Tailsection.
I’ve been thinking about it, but I really feel that we are as good, if not even better in some areas than the larger sites, but then again, since this is my site, I am a probably a bit biased.
Be honest with me. If you visit one or both of the above sites, do you prefer them to The Lost Blog? And if you do, what do they have that you miss on The Lost Blog? Any thoughts or ideas about things that you would like to see on this site, or comments about my writing style or the kind of things we write about are also welcome.
I’m not going to sell my soul and change things just for the sake of being popular, but maybe there is something that I’m overlooking.
It should maybe be clarified that I have nothing against Lost-media or The Tailsection, they are both great sites. But there is clearly potential for The Lost Blog to grow and it would be very interesting to know in which way you guys think we should grow.

Brian K. Vaughan, the writer of comic books such as Runaways, Y:The Last Man and Ex Machina just announced that he will be joining the Lost writing staff:
I’ve been hired as an Executive Story Editor by the fantastic television show LOST. As I’m neither an executive nor an editor, this is really just a fancy Hollywood way of saying that I’ve joined the writing staff.
I can’t talk about much more than that, so I implore you to please stop asking me what the island is, who the Others are, how Matthew Fox smells, etc. Still, I will say that I’m insanely honored to join such an amazing group of writers (some of their new scripts I’ve been lucky enough to read are destined to become the best episodes of the series), and I’m very grateful to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse for having so much faith in me.
I’m a bit embarrassed to say that I’ve never read any of Brian’s comic books, but it’s always fun to see new writers added to the team, hopefully he will be able to help make Lost even better.
Welcome to the community Brian!

Evangeline Lilly’s rental home in Kailua, Hawaii burned down early this morning.
Fortunately, neither Evangeline or her two roommates were home at the time and no injuries were reported.

Photo courtesy of Morgan Janus and The Honolulu Advertiser
The Honolulu Advertiser writes:
Five fire trucks responded to the call around 6:45 a.m. Neighbors said the fire started at least by 6:30 and quickly spread. There was nobody home at the time. “Lost” was filming at a Waialua Beach this morning and one of Lilly’s roommates who works on the set returned home after the fire was out.
This is really sad. I’m glad Evangeline and her roommates are alright and I hope they didn’t lose anything too valuable in the fire.

Fangasm reports that according to their sources, the second half of Lost Season 3 might return sooner than we were expecting.
Apparently, amid fears that the ongoing string of critically challenged replacements will bury ABC’s chances of regaining its Wednesday footing, execs at the alphabet network have dropped in on the LOST crew with the following proposition: how much money do you need to get LOST on the air early….
According to the site, if the Lost producers agree to the proposition the show could start airing new episodes as early as January 10 or 17, three or four weeks earlier than the currently scheduled February 7 return date.
It should be noted that Fangasm are the only ones reporting about this. There is no official source yet.
I’m not sure what to make of this. On one hand it would be fun to get new Lost episodes sooner, but on the other hand I don’t really mind waiting until February, and I certainly am prepared to wait to get high quality episodes instead of sloppy episodes rushed through production.
What are your thoughts?

According to Lost-Media, “Day Break”, the show that was supposed to fill the void during the Lost hiatus, has been pulled by the network.
The entire story-arch of “Day Break” was planned for a single season, so it’s sad to see that ABC doesn’t have the balls to stick with it until the end. Even though the show only attracted around 4.5 million viewers, canceling a show that was going to end pretty soon is both cowardly and unfair to the 4.5 million who watch it and were looking forward to the conclusion.
ABC has said that fans will be able to follow “Day Break” online at ABC.com, but couldn’t promise that all the remaining episodes would be available on the website.
Repeats of comedies “George Lopez” and “According to Jim” will take Day Break’s previous timeslot until January 3 when sitcoms “Knights of Prosperity” and “In Case of Emergency” will debut.
There is no news on how this will affect the “Lost Moment” clips that were airing with “Day Break”. I consider the clips to be spoilers which do more harm than good, so we don’t write about them. If the “Lost Moments” have been canceled too, there is at least something good coming out of this.

I have a fairly exciting little piece of code for those of our fans who have their own websites.
It is now possible to show the headlines and summaries of our three latest posts on your own website, and best of all, it’s really easy!
Simply copy and paste the following code to your website:
<script src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/lostblogfeed?format=sigpro" type="text/javascript"></script>
You could place our news in your sidebar, on your front page, or wherever you think it would enhance your website. The list will adapt to your site’s current stylesheet and can also be styled separately.
This is how the list looks when inserted right here:
If you need any help inserting the code in your site, post a comment and I will do my best to help out!

Naveen Andrews, best known from his role as Sayid on Lost is starring in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez & Quentin Tarantino double-feature “Grindhouse“. The director duo say that the movie is a tribute to the kind of films they grew up watching.
Naveen is playing a yet to be named character in the segment “Planet Terror” written and directed by Sin City director Robert Rodriguez. Not much is known about the story of Rodriguez’s part of the movie, but Naveen’s character is some form of zombie slayer. Sounds fun.
A trailer for the film has been seen floating around on the Internet. But it’s probably not the final trailer and you didn’t hear it from me.
I’m a fan of both Rodriguez and Tarantino’s movies, and while Grindhouse may look a bit extreme, it will certainly be very interesting to see the final result!

It’s nomination time, and once again Lost is on a roll.
The nominees for the 64th Golden Globe Awards were announced this morning. Lost was nominated for the “Best TV Series – Drama” award and Evangeline Lilly was nominated for the “Best Performance by an Actress In A Television Series – Drama” award for her role as Kate.
I know some of you guys haven’t really liked Evangeline’s acting this season, but I think she is doing a great job, so congrats to both Evangeline and the rest of the cast and crew. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
