HansoFoundation MFI Page & SubLYMONal Updates

3 years, 9 months ago by Cecilia

Possible Spoilers

New updates, webmazer fans! Well, quite a few, actually.

On www.thehansofoundation.org, the MFI page has now changed. Now if you click the logo, an interactive map pops up. These have facts about the countries they are pointing to. There are 3 which have blanks which ask you to fill in information.

For those who would like to play around with this a little more on their own and find the answers themselves, I’ll leave the answers to the blanks in the comments section.

Additionally, there is an unlabeled clickie on China’s Northern border. I’m from China, and I don’t know of anything in that desolate area except the Gobi desert! Unless it’s a very small landmark, that is. There are no huge rivers that go exactly there. Let me know what you think. The label to the pointer says: “She was a former employee of the foundation” backwards.

Also, subLYMONal.com has changed (this is a little older; it was over the weekend). Courtesy of the nice guys at The Lost Experience Clues Blog, here are the passwords:

Persephone
108
Also: tongue, spray, embed, listen & pulse, bentley, scan, whatthe?, chill, defib, belly, gulp

Most of the latter ones seem to go to ads that are not that interesting. Password Persephone goes to more Greek mythology info, where the voiceover answer to the question on Hesiod’s Theogony is “Demeter and Zeus” (don’t know what the meaning is yet – pertaining to its use in the webmaze, that is). 108 has DJ Dan’s latest podcast, which is interesting, as it talks about a university student who feels like he was building a giant weapon for Widmore Corp (one that could move the moon??).

What do you miss on The Lost Blog?

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

During the summer I will be tweaking, redesigning and adding content to The Lost Blog to make the site look and feel even better when season 3 starts. This is your chance to change things.

What features are you missing on The Lost Blog? Do you have a great idea for how the site could be improved?
Write down your ideas in the comments and if I see something I like, I might implement your ideas on the site.

This is not to say that we will take a break from reporting on all things Lost just because we are waiting for next season. The Lost Experience is still going strong and we are not even near finished discussing the Lost season 2 finale, so keep checking in, we’re here all week!

Lost Producers Talk About Season 3

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

According to Sci Fi Wire, Lost producers Carlton Cuse and Bryan Burk recently talked a bit about the next season of Lost.

“The Others are an important part of season three, and there’s a lot of mysteries and a lot of questions about the Others that the audience is going to be curious about going into season three.”

Said executive producer Carlton Cuse, who continued:

“There will definitely be some new characters on the show next year. … Obviously, Michael Emerson, who plays Henry Gale, he’s someone who’s going to be very prominent in the show next year.”

According to executive producer Bryan Burk, love will play a larger role in the next season of Lost:

“I’m excited about love in season three. Don’t forget now the people have been on the island for 60-plus days. They’re now obviously more familiar with each other. … The concept of love [is there], and … it weaves its way through all of our characters. It’s going to be much more prevalent in season three.”

Video of Hugh McIntyre Interview

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

Like we reported yesterday, Hugh McIntyre, the “fictional” Director of Communications of The Hanso Foundation was interviewed on Jimmy Kimmel Live after the Lost season finale yesterday. If you missed the interview or want to take a second look, i’ve posted the video bellow:

Live Together, Die Alone

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

There is not much time left now, the season finale of Lost season 2 airs in about 3 hours.

This is the official description of the Lost episode “Live Together, Die Alone”:

After discovering something odd just offshore, Jack and Sayid come up with a plan to confront “The Others” and hopefully get Walt back. Meanwhile, Eko and Locke come to blows as Locke makes a potentially cataclysmic decision regarding the “button” and the hatch, on the two-hour season finale.

Will they manage to save Walt? Are Jack and Sayid going to stop Michael from taking them to The Others? What’s up with the boat that approached the island at the end of last weeks Lost episode? What made Oceanic flight 815 crash? What happens when they don’t push the button in the hatch?

There are a lot of unanswered questions, but hopefully the two hour Lost season finale will answer many of them.

Feel free to discuss the episode in the comments of this post!

And for those who are wondering, yes, there will be a third season of Lost.

Hansocareers

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

A new site related to the Lost experience has surfaced – hansocareers.com
The link appeared to the left of the RSS button on the Hanso Foundation site today so it is officially part of the experience.

Several openings at Hanso Foundation projects are listed on the site. These are the requirements for an Organ Courier…

The successful applicant will combine not only a working knowledge of tissue-transplantation procedures and the latest pharmaceutical agents involved in this growing field, but also an ability for high-speed travel, diplomacy and an extensive knowledge of transit restrictions and regulations as well as traffic laws around the world. Fluency in at least five languages including French, German, Russian and Chinese is crucial – as is a willingness to achieve fluency in sub-saharan regional and tribal dialects. Knowledge of martial arts, self-defense and extensive weapons training is essential, but applicants willing to receive training in these areas will receive due consideration.

I just watched “The Island” so it felt a bit weird to read that The Hanso Foundation are looking for Organ Couriers. I wonder if there is any connection to the stuff going on in that movie.

Anyway, check out the site and let us know if you find any clues or passwords.

Spoiler if you want to investigate on your own

Update: The password for the board of directors page was found through hansocareers.com. Make sure that you have logged in through the newsletter page on thehansofoundation.org, go to the executive bios page and then board of directors and input “Inmate Asylum” as the password.

The Electromagnetic Radiation Theory

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

In last weeks Lost episode “Three Minutes” we where once again reminded of the magnetic properties of the Swan station. Eko was walking around, exploring the hatch and suddenly the cross around his neck started to float in the air, sort of like it was dragged towards a magnet.

We’ve seen this before, the key Jack has in a strap around his neck started floating in the exact same way when he was walking around in the hatch in the Lost episode “Everybody Hates Hugo”. To me this clearly points to a fairly large magnet, or at least something with very strong magnetic properties behind the concrete in the hatch.

When Jack and Sayid where exploring that part of the hatch, Sayid believed that there might be a geothermal generator behind the concrete. He also stated:

The last time I heard of concrete being poured over everything in this way was Chernobyl.

Chernobyl was covered in concrete to try to contain the dangerous radiation but how is this related to Lost? Enter electromagnetic radiation and The Hanso Foundation Electromagnetic Research Initiative.

I believe that the Swan station might contain a large electromagnet powered by a thermal generator. Before the losties crashed on the island something happened to the electromagnet, making it release large amounts of ionizing radiation, much like what happened at Chernobyl. This could be what is referred to as “the incident” and would be a very good reason to cover the magnet in concrete.

Ionizing Radiation could also explain what “cured” Rose’s cancer since low levels of ionizing radiation have been claimed to lower the risk of cancer. On the other hand, ionizing radiation could also cause the losties to get cancer through radiation poisoning.

Another idea that just occurred to me is that the “vaccine” Desmond used might have stopped him from being poisoned by the radiation, if this theory turns out to be true.

The initial purpose of the kind of magnet described above could have been to generate a large electromagnetic pulse used to protect the island. A large enough electromagnetic pulse would for example be able to disable the electronics of any approaching vehicle, like flight 815, and make it crash.

I’m guessing that the computer was originally used to fire of an electromagnetic pulse. This occurred after inputing the security code (the numbers) and hitting execute. Now what if the “incident” somehow reversed the process and made the electromagnetic pulse fire if the button wasn’t pushed?

It wouldn’t surprise me if it took 108 minutes for the electromagnet to get charged again after unleashing a pulse, so maybe the countdown was originally an indicator of how many minutes from full charge the magnet was?

Also, in the episodes where they almost didn’t manage to push the button in time, a loud “humming” sound increased in volume the closer to 0 the countdown came. Could that be how a large electromagnet sounds as it charges up to unleash a electromagnetic pulse?

I haven’t had much time to research this as the idea just occurred to me and it contradicts the theory that The Swan is just a big Skinner box so I’m not entirely sure here. I’m also not 100% certain that ionizing radiation works like stated above, but this is the idea I got while researching it. Either way, I’d say that this theory is a possibility. What do you think?

In about 4 hours we will hopefully find out the true nature of The Swan, stay tuned!

McFarlane Announces Lost Toys

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

Yahoo Finance writes:

McFarlane Toys’ Lost Series 1 captures six compelling characters from the series’ first season: Jack, Kate, Hurley, Locke, Charlie and Shannon. Each 6-inch Lost action figure will come complete with a detailed base and photographic backdrop, capturing an episode-specific moment in the character’s story. In addition, each package will include a detailed prop reproduction, central to the character’s story, enabling fans to “own” a piece of the show’s mythology.

McFarlane Toys will also release Lost deluxe boxed sets — re-creating key moments between multiple characters, and small-scale dioramas — replicating central locations such as the mysterious island and the famous hatch.

McFarlane Toys CEO Todd McFarlane also explains that they where allowed to scan the faces of the Lost cast to produce as realistic and detailed toys as possible.

The Lost toys will hopefully be in stores late this fall so now you know what to wish for these holidays!

Reader Tip Roundup

3 years, 9 months ago by Andreas

I’ve been getting a lot of mails from our readers the last two weeks but sadly I haven’t had much time to write about all the interesting things they had to say, so here goes:

Jared writes:

I just watched the jeep video. At the end there is a beep and then a quick flash of the Dharma logo with a message. I can’t get a screen cap to enhance it, but there are 4 words at the top, first word looks like echo. Maybe someone can figure it out?

I tried enhancing the images but couldn’t make out what it says either. Anyone with better luck?

Jeff found a site with the scripts for various Lost episodes. Really cool if you are interested in screenwriting like I am.

I haven’t had time to read all the scripts, but I noticed that there are some differences to the pilot script and how the Lost pilot episode ended up looking shot and edited, so it might be possible to find some interesting information in the screenplays.

Both Sebastien and Heather discovered that after doing some of the Lost experience stuff on thehansofoundation.org, if you look at the Joop webcam, he will morph into a dark image that resembles a human. I’ve seen this being discussed in the comments too, but has anyone managed to capture a good picture of the “human” and what significance if any do you believe this has?

Rachel Cunliffe of cre8d-design.com spotted some fun/interesting things related to Lost and Alias in Mission:Impossible 3.

Sophie found the Buddhist Dhamma concept to have some parallels to Lost. Quite interesting reading.

Joe pointed out that Mittelwerk (as in Dr.Thomas Mittelwerk of The Hanso Foundation) was the name of a secret underground Nazi base during the second World War that produced the V1 and V2 rockets, using slave labor. Also very interesting reading.

We get new tips every day, but the tips above should keep us all entertained for some hours so more reader tips will be discussed in a future post. If you have interesting information related to Lost (no spoilers) that you want to share with us, send us a mail!
