Hi, I'm french and I just finished the 2x20, when Mickaël kill Ana and Libby. How is the 2x21? Is it true, the last episode during 2 hours? Sorry for my english ;-)

For french people, I found a blog where everything is in french with pictures...

Hi Cedric,

I like this blog and I'm French too : why do we invade Americans on their websites ... ?! Yeah probably the last episode will last two hours but this is just like season one : you probably watched it on French TV that's why you didn't notice there were 25 episodes instead on 24 like it should have been.

Take care not to connect tonight because from midnight (Paris time), people here will know everything about next episode, broadcasted on wednesday, whereas we will have to wait for three days before seing it.

cheers.

Did anyone catch Jack crying over the treefrog in last week's ep? So sad...

...and I read somewhere that it was the pilot reincarnated too. That frog might have been the survivors' only way off the island.

*sniff, sniff* Tragic!

Holy Crap!! (note: if you haven't seen the episode don't read this, I just finished watching it)
It really does seem like the writers are looking at these sites and taking our ideas, we were right about the hatch just being an experiment, and we were right that Libby wasn't dead yet. Drives me nuts that they gave her the chance to say that Micheal shot her and then killed her two seconds before it got out! Michael's name has now, in my mind, changed to 'Stupid Micheal', he no longer looks guilty, did you see the look he had at the very end of the episode?
Yet another character connection, with Libby, and did anyone else notice that the "Miriacle Girl's" father was the phsycic that Claire went to?
So glad that they finally gave us some answers instead of just opening up question after question like they've been doing for the past weeks or months.
Great episode.

site was: www.sublymonal.com

It is mentioned on the NEWS page of this site... shows rotating flashing boxes... you have to click each one a zillion times until it turns solid, then eventually you will go to a page that tells you the code is Heir Apparent.

At the sublymonal website, there is a pattern to clicking on the boxes...

You can start with anyone...but before you can move to the next one you have to click each one a certain number of times.

First one is 4...next is 8...15, 16, 23, 42, of course.

Their servers are getting SLAMMED right now, so everything is slow and some things aren't even loading. After getting through the boxes, you get to a screen that shows a box that flashes: "code: Heir Apparent".
Clicking down below takes you to the bios page at hansofoundation.org and you can use that Heir Apparent code on one of the profiles... that's as far as I got before their site stopped working for me.

I hate to be a pain...but if anyone can give any more details about the last minute, it would be great (TiVo cut off too). The last thing I saw was Hurley saying, "Can I talk to her?" and Jack shooting in the heroin? Are we sure she's dead, or might she have just been knocked out by the drugs? What did Hurley say to her? What was the look Michael gave, referred to above?

And, I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing the previews. I mean, that's what this site is for, right? They're already been on TV, so it's not a spoiler...so, please share! :-)

Hurley goes to Libby. She opens her eyes, utters “Michael” and dies. Surprisingly, we don’t see Jack cry ;-)

I’d tell you previews, but I believe that’s verbotten around here.

I hate to be a pain…but if anyone can give any more details about the last minute, it would be great (TiVo cut off too). The last thing I saw was Hurley saying, “Can I talk to her?” and Jack shooting in the heroin? Are we sure she’s dead, or might she have just been knocked out by the drugs? What did Hurley say to her? What was the look Michael gave, referred to above?

And, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with discussing the previews. I mean, that’s what this site is for, right? They’re already been on TV, so it’s not a spoiler…so, please share! :-)

She's dead Jim

Jack closed her vacant, staring eyes. Kate cried, Sawyer held onto her. Final shot was Michael by himself in "Henry's old room" looking a might bit menacing (Thud...LOST)

I don't think we've learned that the hatch/button is just an experiment. The Others are deceivers. The Pearl orientation video also implied that the button is not what Locke believed it to be - but did we ever really think that pushing the button was 'saving the world' (Desmond)? Nope.
I was kind of disappointed with this ep, honestly.

I mean yes, they found the new hatch. And yes, we found out that they are (were?) being watched from the Pearl. There were some interesting dream sequences. Ana and Libby are officially dead.

Overall I am just... not impressed. I like what they tried to do with this episode, but they didn't win me over with this one. At this point of the season I expect everything to be kind of WOW and this just wasn't to me.

Although, I did particularly like the sequence with Hurley and Michael... Hurley talks about how they were going to go on their first date, and Michael honestly looks upset/sorry about what he is done... this show of remorse, to me, says that he is acting against his will and doing something he thinks will protect Walt. He is, obviously, not to be trusted, but I'm really interested to know what his motive is.

And I'm already missing Not Henry and the element he brought into the hatch... I really hope we haven't seen the last of him.

Who knows, maybe I'll change my mind about this one after I watch it again, I usually like the episdoes more the second time around.

OK first time posting because I thought this would be important.
After getting the password from the Sublymonal "Heir Apparent" I went to the hanso site. I first checked the bios could not find anything but then I checked the newsletter. Persephone (or however you spell it) came back and said to call the call center in the tv add. Could this be a hint that the next commercial is going to be a phone number? I think it might.

Libby, I must say I felt similiar. But we must keep in mind that the previous epi was so big on the WOW factor that it would be very hard for them to live up to that every week. If every epi was a WOW we'd be laying on the floor having a conversation with our own brain, which was lying there next to us. HA. The season closer is coming soon. If they wow'd us last week, imagine what the closer will be like.

I am also missing Henry already.By far the most interesting character (and actor) on the show.

As for thoughts, I think the significance to the epi was that the Pearl was abandoned and appeared to be for some time. This took me back to the med hatch, when the girls returned and found it also abandoned. This has led me to believe that either Claire's memory flashback can't be trusted or that her flashback was from a much earlier time, and not a flashback to when she was kidnapped on the island. I am having trouble reconciling that with Alex saving her and Claire scratching Danielle, but the med hatch, like the Pearl, seemed like it had been abandoned for years, not just a few weeks.

This leads me to think that the fake beard and clothes were also old. Claire saw a younger Zeke, sans beard, when he was a Dharma worker. Now he is the bearded Zeke (ie a real beard), b/c the experiment has long ended and he and his people have had to turn to the island to survive. The Swan stills gets food drops b/c it is still "operating" but the rest of the hatches don't. This could play into an alternate timelines theory that some have suggested, but I don't know how.

SmileyMe: I don't know what questions they answered, but they certainly opened up more: 1. why were the hatches abandoned? 2. where did Locke's map end up when he put it in the shoot? 3. are the ferries still around? 4. why two different names for the doctor? 5. will they find Henry? 6. and where's Desmond? obviously not at the "?"

I was somewhat disappointed by what the "?" turned out to be. Kind of a let down after all the hype and excitement generated by the map discovery. All that work by the mapmaker summed up by the enigmatic "?" in the middle and it turns out: they're watching us. Kind of blah.

My favorite part (the part when I went "hey, something's wrong") was in the dream sequence when Eko was following his brother up the cliff. Anyone elso notice he was limping as he was walking? Of course, it only took a few minutes for us to find out why.

Oh and Libby, uh sorry you like ah died and stuff ... dude. (ok that was crass. Hurley's pain was one of the most touching parts of the episode. Please forgive me, I'm a good person.)

I thought this episode was sad but I liked it. It would be hard to do something to match last week so there is that let down too.

Again we see what looks like an abandoned hatch. Are the Losties going in and out of some time warp? (And Michael does look older.) The monitors sure would explain how the Others seem to know what is going on with everyone. There were 9 screens and there are 6 hatches so perhaps there observation points everywhere outside on the island. And If the Others are watching what is going on from the past that is really creepy!

I loved the differences between Locke and Eko (both "men of faith"). John was more cynical this time around although he did get some of the old excitement back while they were opening the hatch. And Eko seems to be in a state of wonder. Me too! Cannot wait for next week!

Great episode!! I'm going to be posting some thoughts about the Pearl station, and the new Orientation film... but I just wanted to mention something here first.

In the film, the narrator introduces himself as Dr. Mark Wickman (not Whitman). This leads me to believe that Candle and Wickman are both aliases, and we do not know the true identity of this person.

Another interesting connection is this: Wickman (wick being the part of a candle that is lit), Candle, and Chandler are all similar names. Chandler means "candle maker" in Middle English. Whose last name is Chandler, you ask? Why, Cindy, of course. Cindy, the missing F.A.

Here's TheBigCat's theory thread for more on this: http://www.losttv-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19150

Also, who noticed that "Dr. Wickman" has the use of both arms... Dr. Candle supposedly had one prosthetic arm.

Keep the comments coming, everyone!

After seeing first hand what was up in the "Pearl" hatch, I dont get how Eckko could still believe this is all a religious "faith" thing. Isnt it obvious that they are all being manipulated and studied on so many levels- by mortals? I would think that what John and Eckko witnessed in the Pearl is a great reason for our survivors to never have to push that button again! It's a behavioral experiment that has more to do with being gullible, than having faith!
ANyone agree?

I was trying to gently lead folks over there, hehe... but this is not the right article to be discussing the webmaze stuff in; we have other articles on it further down where you can post your comments, and yes, it goes into SubLYMONal ads, etc etc.

EDIT: Job, after some research, I agree and am changing the name to Wickman (wrote my reasons for why in the caption). Thank you, and the connection to "Chandler" is definitely interesting.

BTW, I was not impressed by "Two for the Road".. just thought it was too gimmicky (2 major characters shot and eventually died, 1 major character turned evil), and the "bodyguard" angle was just hard to swallow. I personally liked this episode a lot better, though my favorite thus far is still "Lockdown".

Guys, I only have time for a quick post, but there are three points that nobody has raised yet:

1. Does "Sublymonal" sound like a drug name to anyone else. One geared towards controling behavior perhaps? Who knows what Desmond et al. have been injecting into their arms...

2. Perhaps pressing the button in the Swan was originally a Skinner-type experiment, yes. But perhaps it became more important after "the incident" and after the computer problems. Also, if it's connected to food and supply drops, that pretty important too.

3. Did anyone notice that the footage of Ana that was shown in the preview after Two for the Road was missing. The footage showed her prone, on her back and I believe someone was folding her arms across her chest. Am I imagining this?

Later all...keep ruminating...

I was a little disappointed in the whole "It came to me in a dream" angle.
A few questions were answered but, as always, more questions opened up. This show is killing me. I'm dying for answers!

I think the real subjects of the observation experiment are the people who were in Pearl. If you look at the map, it is the only section that doesn't have a line connecting it to any other section, implying it is isolated. My feeling is that the subjects in Pearl are actually being watched AS watchers, as they are basically doing the same crap everyone else is doing. They are being told to write down EVERYTHING they observe, which is it's own kind of "obey." And we did see a camera mounted in Pearl pointed to the chairs. What I'm curious and boggled about is the giant magnifying glasses mounted to each viewing chair, as well as the stuff on that tray. It appears to be a cigarette butt, some small rocks, and some kind of crystal powder (salt?). But who knows ...

Near the end, as Eckko is telling Locke about his brother, what I thought of was a priest/penitent relationship. Locke, being the first to identify with the "faith" aspects of the Island, is really taking Eckko's confession. So we have had Fake Henry trying to convince Locke the whole thing is a joke, and we have some dead people trying to pull him back to the faith, as it were. So perhaps the Others (or at least Henry's group) are operating in opposition to whatever the more spiritual properties of the Island are.

Dave, Ana Lucia was shown on her back with Jack folding her arms over her. I don't have TIvo so I don't recall exactly where this scene came, but it was there. Or it might have been Eko doing the arm folding, since there was also a scene of him doing some sort of "rest in peace" ritual. I can't recall who the arm-folder was.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but the Swan orientation film said the "incident" led to the entering of the numbers at the Swan. There was a time when whatever happened or was occuring at the Swan did not involve the entering of the numbers. Could the Pearl have been built after the other hatches, post-"incident"? Both copyrights on the films are 1980. So if the Swan film was made in 1980 and they now had to enter the number, it suggests the Pearl film was also redone. The Pearl hatch could have served a different purpose pre-incident. Someone had to start watching everybody, although they only had to do it for 3 weeks! What kind of tour of duty is that? Perhaps, if the Pearl observers are watching ALL the hatches, if they watched too long they would start to put 2 and 2 together?

ok. on the sublymonal website, click the obey, then click each screen the number of times in the code (4,8,15,16,23,42) the screens turn lime when you do it. Then it gives you the code "heir apparent". click that, and it brings you to the bios page on hanso. click on the date beneath the pic of alvar, oct 28th 2001, and it says "Notice the grainy picture?" and then, "Could this be anyone else?", then it brings you to a map of europe. click on all the dates the map has and then persephone writes you saying that the last time alvar was seen was in 2002. Then there is a voice and big bold print saying "Where is alvar hanso" "Does he exist" and "Who is running this thing?" Then it brings you back to the bios page. click on the bio of the doctor. then enter the "heir apparent" password in the box. It brings you to a creepy room with a wheelchair and the creepiest of girls. she is in a hospital gown. she turns around and faces you (she looks like the dead/alive girl from last nights episode!) and then she shows you a document. The document if a Cal Tech one, the school the Dr. went to (it says in his bio) but when you click on it, hand writing say, "Cal tech has no record of this guy. Does he even have a degree? Why does he call himself a doctor? of what? Who is this clown?" and then it brings you back to the bio page...that's where it ended for me? Anyone get anything different or further?

My theory on the button after watching the "?" episode is that I believe entering the code and pushing the "Execute" button keeps the video recorder in each of the hatches activated. It also tells the "Foundation" conducting the "experiment" that someone was still occupying the Swan hatch. All the other hatches have been found by the survivors and looked abandoned for some time except the Swan hatch because Desmond kept pushing the button.

Perhaps the "Others" occupied the other hatches and have simply tired of the experiment and gone off to live/survive on their own. As long as Desmond pushed the button, and now the Oceanic Flight crash survivors push the button, the "experiment" continues, the Swan hatch activities continue to be recorded and supplies keep coming to the island from the "Foundation" keeping everyone alive.

As you will recall from the Pearl Orientation film, all activities are being recorded, and because the Swan hatch has had someone continuously pushing the button, the video cameras have kept recording. SO, somewhere there is a video recording of Michael shooting Ana, Libby and himself and telling "not Henry" to escape.

As soon as Locke and Eko report back about the Pearl hatch they found and about all the hatch activities being recorded on video tape, the survivors will realize that somewhere they can find the tape of what happened when "not Henry" escaped. That somewhere may be the "barracks" mentioned in the Orientation Film and the "barracks" is the place where the "Others" have been living since they gave up on the experiment.

Whether or not Michael will lead them to the "Others" as a trap or to fight for Walt's return remains to be seen.

Whether or not Michael will lead them to the “Others” as a trap or to fight for Walt’s return remains to be seen.

[quote comment="2054"]My theory on the button after watching the "?" episode is that I believe entering the code and pushing the "Execute" button keeps the video recorder in each of the hatches activated.

Some good ideas there. Did I miss something that said the cameras were recording though? I took them as live feeds. Plus if they are being recorded, there is no point in having observers record everything they saw b/c, well, it's being recorded.

As for Locke and Eko telling anybody anything, I don't know that that will happen. There is no precedence for that. And even if they did tell, it would take the Losties months to even think about going back and checking the recordings. Not to mention, Locke and Jack would have to fight about it for at least 3 episodes.

Oh, at least next time Jack can cry on Sawyer's shoulder.

Nothing said the button didnt serve a purpose.

I wonder if those who have been drugged by food/injections are the ones getting the subliminal messages in dreams/visions?

I think the Psychic is a fake but his daughter really can see into the future. via some Darhma vitamins?

Where oh were did desmond go? and how is he after not taking any more shots?

Was the Boat the others used mentioned in the video?

Last but not least could the doctors in the videos be CLONES? or the same man who has come back after traveling through time?

Dr. Wickman said in the Orientation Film that everything was being recorded. My guess would be that they were told to write down what they saw so that their comments could be compared to see how each interpreted the events they were viewing. All part of the big "experiment" on human behavior.

Locke seems to be getting back his "faith" so maybe he'll be more willing to share their discovery with the other Losties rather than jockeying for power with Jack. Although you raise a good point about Eko and Locke keeping it to themselves, they all have had their secret discoveries in the past that they didn't share until they HAD no other choice.

How convenient for the "Others" though; now they've got the Losties killing eachother rather than having to do it themselves.

Hmm Donyab. I usually rewatch on Thursday. I'll pay real close attention to the Pearl video.

I thought the conversation between Locke and Eko in the Pearl was a real eye-opener when it came to Locke's opinion of himself. He is constantly back and forth and now appears to be shrugging off the idea that he is anything important.

V, the pearl is listed on the map, with a question mark behind it, as if to indicate the mapmaker was guessing that the pearl would be located in that area. The corresponding hatch is also drawn with broken lines and not solid lines like the swan and the flame.

Which brings us to the "?" in the middle. Does anyone else feel as dumb as I do? I always interpreted the big ? in the circle as the mapmaker saying "what is this or what is here?" When actually, it was just a big question mark on the ground.

There are some good posts on the abc plot boards about the numbers sequence, if you can get on there that is. Just don't lead anyone back here!! We must keep Andreas blog clean, clutter free, and "good".

I'll quote myself b/c I'm just adding things I forgot the first time.

Note there is no drug plane on the hatch map. That has always been curious to me and more so since whoever made the map should have realized that there was a crashed plane laying very near the "?". That could mean that that part of the map was made long before the drug plane crashed.

I also don't buy Eko's reasoning that the "?" was a landing site for the plane. A balloon maybe, or a parachute drop. But a plane needs a runway, not a little clearing in the trees.

If the Pearl denizens ARE being recorded, then that could validate the theory that someone is watching the watchmen.

The orientation films strike me as nothing more than playing a role. Setting a stage. Much like the MC at a Murder Mystery dinner event, or something like that. "You are here to do this thing, and you MUST NEVER let this other thing happen." Maybe "the incident" is nothing more than the "shared event" (a la The Island with the installation of clones being raised). The film/videos must look genuine to be believable and cause the subjects to continue as the experiment requires.

I see some people talking about time travel... man, if that's the case, I'm done. They might as well have Robert Zemeckis guest-direct an episode and have cameos by Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. They could call Sawyer "butt-head" and stuff.

I'm genuinely afraid that the show is going to jump over that shark with the Dharma tattoo we saw last season. I'm ok with getting answers, but I really prefer the questions.

Hangin' in there...

Jimseas- i think the plane was just there so eko could find the hatch. the plane was right on top of it, so it still would form the dot at the bottom of the ?.
I think it would've been a little more interesting if they went exploring in the hatch or it showed the others inside a different hatch.

Nothing really new here, probably... It seems like the "Pearl" orientation film shows an earlier version of Candle, having both arms, and without one side of his face being jacked up. I don't doubt that the original purpose of the "Swan" was some sort of psychological experiment with no outer purpose. However, since the "incident" referenced in the Swan video, the button now has an actual purpose. Don't know what. The only consequence we've seen, maybe, is that if the button isn't pushed, food gets airdropped. Both things have only happened once so far on the show. Is pushing the button some manner of ensuring that the island remains cut off? It would be consistent with the admonition in the Swan film regarding use of the computer.

Along with Candle's name being changed at some point, and the Others' repeatedly stated fear of "him" (Hanso? too easy), it all looks like someone has taken over the experiment and everyone involved in the Dharma initiative, and is using it and them for his own purposes.

On a side note, I think the "subLYMONal" thing is a waste of time. "Obey" probably refers to "obey your thirst", the Sprite motto. "Heir apparent" often refers to Lebron James, total badass/Sprite salesman.

The numbers on the log Locke printed out are NOT "the" numbers. Take a look (screen grab from the show via abc.com):

Maybe these numbers are from a previous iteration of the experiment?

Did anyone mention that the Pearl video was made in 1980???? This means that the island "experiments" were started not that long ago - at least not pre WWII.

If you look at the numbers on thelog, they're going up.

ex: 41602081:05 accepted 41602082:53 accepted

but it's not a regular progression. Could it be some kind of time or date stamp of the numbers being successfully entered into the Swan computer?

Could the numbers on the print out represent the number of times the button has been pushed, with the last two numbers stamping the seconds remaining on the clock?

Did it seem like the wallpaper in the Pearl was the same as the wallpaper in the coroner's office?

Our friendly Lost castmembers, each with his or her particular side-story issue, are in Purgatory. The Island, the "monsters" in the jungle, the hatches, Dharma...these create an environment in which each cast member is shaken out of their old lives and stripped down to the basic instints, and creates a platform for each of them to work out their unresolved issue. If they successfully work out their issue, their time on the Island is done and they pass on (to Heaven? Hell?) The rest of the twists and turns are all static. Fun statick though. Just my opinion.

[quote comment="2051"]ok. on the sublymonal website, click the obey, then click each screen the number of times in the code (4,8,15,16,23,42) the screens turn lime when you do it. Anyone get anything different or further?[/quote]

the producers already said that they are not dead.

Also I have to agree with the earlier post about the pearl not being the ? Ecko said that Locks map was not in correct proportion or scale, and John knew it was just from memory.

I don't see a ? on the ground, I just see a circle, again confirming to me that this is not the ?, in addition to the fact that they never said it was.

The psychic is not telling the truth. I think he knew that his daughter really did die but he must keep the truth a secret for some reason. He claims to be a fraud... kinda odd considering he didn't have to... and then puting that together with Clair's experience with him, which must have been around the same time. Either that or after his daughter came back to life, she told him about Clair, or somehow passed her power on.

yeah, can we please finally rule out purgatory and the dead theory? the producers have made it clear that's not what's going on.

what if the people in the hatches know a fair bit about their previous lives as well? as in, the castaways lives prior to the island. for instance, des was in a hatch (relating to jack), that creepy painting (very similar to thomas, relating to claire), and i agree about the wallpaper in the pearl. if the others know about the people's history, it makes sense that they can judge them as either "good" or "bad".

OOOOOOOOOOOH MY GOD! This confirms my theory, well only in one experiment, the sociological experiment, the study of 2 people living together, the confinement, the seclusion, the quarantine... All of this just to take an answer from the way we as human interact with each other on determined situations... This was a slow episode but quite good revealing goooooooooood info about what the hell is happening on the island...

I think that eko will bring jack back to the hatch and the others will be on a different screen. they will have a control panel to remotely move the monster and mr smokey.

maybe the real question mark is the hole that mr smokey tried to drag locke into in the first season

well ive been looking through the numbers printed... this is what i found
they are intervals of 108 minutes
they increase every 10 hours 10*108 = 1080 = 10 hours
accourding to my calculations they have been running these tests for more then 47 years

if you dont understand what i mean , ill give you an example:

"ex: 41602081:05 accepted 41602082:53 accepted"
take out the last 3 digits
1:05 - 2:53 = 108 minutes (time required to press the button)
the other digits get increased every 10 hours so 4160208 will be 4160209 after 10 hours , so this will give you the number of times that the button has been pressed and the numbers (4,8,15) entered ,and will also give you the amount of time spent.
At the time the printed papper is shown the count is up to 48 years

hope i helped with my post :)

Responding to the comments about the producers stating the castaways are not dead......It is a good guess. However, I think a better one is that they are all in a mental hospital and being experimented on as some kind of group hallucination experiment. Think about the characters-----every one of them has some serious mental issues. I bet Jack's Dad, in fact, is "Puppetmaster" of this charade.

Secondly, for being so smart, these characters are unbelievably dumb. If I were in a hatch in which I could see everything happening somewhere else, and was told it was all being recorded, you bet I would rewind the tape just a bit to see what actually happened when 2 of my friends were shot to death......

Ok, since there isn't a link here yet and I can't find one in cyberspace, I'm going to record (pun) the Pearl film here for all interested parties:

[opens with music. there are two title screens]

[first]
The Dharma Initiative
5 of 6
Orientation

[second]
(the Pearl symbol)
Orientation - Station 5 - The Pearl

[music ends]

"Hello, I'm Dr. Mark Wickman and this is the orientation film for station 5 of Dharma Initiative. Station 5, or The Pearl, is a monitoring station, where the activities of participants in Dharma Initiative projects can be observed and recorded, not only for posterity but for the ongoing refinement of the Initiative as a whole. As Karen DeGroot herself has written [both DeGroots shown watching a group of people doing jumping jacks, she is writing in a book] 'Careful observation is the only key to true and complete awareness.'

Your tour of duty in The Pearl will last three weeks and during this
